Thank you, Gibson, for finally acknowledging that you still make mandolins.

For $20,000 USD, yeah it should sound the way it does.

True, but is it $15k better than a Northfield? I'm not sure....

      @@GaragebandandBeyond probably not.

Right! At what point is one just paying for the name? I recently got an upgrade and bought a Bourgeois mandolin and will likely be my
last purchase. Northfields are great too, but too rich for me.@@GaragebandandBeyond

There's a fella in Warren, Ohio about an hour drive for me that can build mandolin like that for 3500.00. And the sound is as bluegrass as it gets.

Awesome players, and great sounding mandolins! I just wish they weren't so darn expensive. But, just beautiful!

What a great story about being given your first mandolin. From the early footage of you playing, I'd say you truly deserved it and went on to surpass all expectations!

I would dearly love to have such an instrument, but like most musicians on this planet... I don't have the $20,000. It's a shame that so many instruments made with such precision and craftsmanship will sit in some collectors vault and never really be played... like it should be.

It would be great if Gibson would bring back the Bill Monroe Signature mandolin strings.
That chopped off, wider, and radiused fretboard on the F5-G kills any desire for me to own one. I find it totally bizarre that they would go to such lengths to make the Master Model as close to the original Loar, and then screw up the F5-G like this. The sunburst back is nice, but why not keep it like it was. I loved my “07” F5-G!

They actually mention that on their website now (finally), and they also acknowledge the rich history of the company at the Gibson Garage.
Truthfully, I’m shocked they even have information about these mandolins on their website and more so that they actually made a UA-cam video acknowledging that they still make mandolins. It has been years since mandolins have even been listed on their website even though they were still making them.

You get what you pay for there is a everyman's version for 5000 there's gotta be a bench mark or there's nothing to reach for good on gibson

More of Gibson capitalizing on its past with a "reissue" that cost 5 times what an original F-5 would cost in today's dollars. This isn't even priced at a point where an aspiring player could scrimp and save and attain one. Like the $50K Greeny Les Paul - destined for a display case.

There is so much EQ on the Mic.... I would have liked to hear a raw tone. It looks amazing and I'm sure it's fantastic, but it's obvious that there is a lot of EQ and Compression on the 414

What happened to the $6399 mando that was a player/professional that didn’t cost $20,000. Gibson is selling a stripped down F5 that looks like crap. Period. Buy an Eastman, a Tone-Gard & save yourself about $4,000 🙄

Why does Gibson roast their guitar / necks? I mean if one by products is reduced weight, why not do it? Or did they try and it was no good.
