- One of the most iconic guitars in history is Jimmy Page’s Gibson EDS-1275 doubleneck. The images of him playing it on stage with Led Zeppelin are indelible to rock ’n’ roll history. Gibson has made doubleneck electric guitars since 1958, but Jimmy defined the model from the moment his EDS-1275 was delivered to him, allowing him to play the acoustic and electric 6-string and 12-string parts of Stairway to Heaven at live performances and later using it for The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Celebration Day, Tangerine, and more recently at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2023.

Made in close collaboration and with significant input from Jimmy Page, this very special Collector’s Edition replication uses new 3D scanning technology and ultra-precise Murphy Lab aging techniques to aid in hand-crafting an effective clone of Jimmy Page’s original guitar. Every single detail has been thoughtfully replicated, from the exact playing wear to the sonic character.
Only 50 Collector’s Edition replications have been created by the expert luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, and artfully aged to match the original by the Murphy Lab as part of this extraordinary Collector’s Edition run honoring both the guitar and the legendary guitarist who first made it famous, Jimmy Page.

i always come in being cynical about the obvious $$$ of the guitars but Gibson wins me over anyway. Jimmy Page is truly a legend, the way he talks about guitar, the composition of songs using the doubleneck and even the planning of Houses of the Holy album using the doubleneck to play the sequence of songs live without changing guitars... wonderful to hear as a big Zeppelin fan. thank you Gibson

Most people would be horrified to buy a new Gibson and get a big ding in it the first week. Now they’re willing to pay a premium for a nice ding recreated to be identical to the ding Jimmy Page got. I mean, come on. That’s just crazy. All the Murphy aged stuff is lunacy. I mean, you’re paying a premium for that. I still love Gibson guitars but their current pricing is insane. I’m glad I got mine when they were reasonable.

For the Gibson folk on the production floor it was very much a 'Knock, knock...who's there?' day.
Mr. Page's perma-smile plus all the hand shaking and embracing really communicated a level of sincere enjoyment and respect from him to them. And they were so obviously thrilled. What a fine video in every sense.
The janitors had to mop the floor from the employees drool just seeing the MAN inside the factory. I know I would.
He is beyond a legend!!!

The first time I saw a 1275 for real was at RUSH’s “Farewell To Kings” tour at the Glasgow Apollo in 1977. Alex Lifeson’s white Gibson was an instant lust! The week after I went round all the music shops looking for one, and the only one I could find was a red Epiphone version, which, after much cajoling, the guy let me try out!
The reality was WAY different than the fantasy! The main obstacle (apart from the fact that I couldn’t play for sh*t!) was the weight….that thing almost broke my spine!
Amazing!!! That’s an understatement!!!!!
Jimmy Page, I think you are something special! A legend and probably one of the coolest cats to ever walk this earth!

The thing that impressed me was that Jimmy can actually still carry that thing at his age. Quite impressive because that guitar is heavy.
It’s only like 12 pounds. It’d be different expecting him to carry/play it for a couple hours 😂
@@zombieparrot2606 I have a Gibson LP with swiss cheese relief and thats 9lb so 12lb isnt a breeze block or anything.
My EDS-1275 weighs about 12.5 pounds. Had to get a 4” padded strap and it definitely helps but after one hour sets you feel it for sure.
There was something so special about Led Zeppelin.
It wasnt just the incredible music, it’s the imagery of the band also.
They just look and define the meaning of rock stars.
It was the absolute perfect band.

I was thinking how cool it is the Jimmy plays each one and then the plectrum is taped to the neck. A very personal touch.

I feel so lucky that I am able to watch an interview with the GREAT Jimmy Page speaking about one the most important Rock anthems of all time.
We are blessed to have the internet. I am blessed to have lived while Mr Page was in his prime. Its cool that he plays each one and includes the pick too! HE signs the back of the headstock the way Johnny Smith signed the back of the GBJS.
One thing though, if you are watching.. Gibson, please make a REAL tribute guitar for Joe Pass. The 175 should never have been cancelled. The L5 should not have been shelved either.
With all due respect, Buy a guitar and relic it the right way. Play it.

What a value to the world.
Gibson, please do the right thing and make this lineup available for the average blue collar worker and family provider by extending this to Gibson USA and Epiphone.
It’s discouraging seeing videos like this when we know this is catered to an elite wealthy group that will either sell for profit, or keep in a case collecting dust.
Majority of players want to do the one thing your guitars were meant for, and that is to actually play them.
I know it’s a long shot, but hopefully someone working for Gibson can see this and understand that majority of players cannot afford even a fraction of these limited quantity models but at the same time celebrate and play something similar to that of an Icon like Jimmy and continue to support a great brand and company like Gibson.
Do the right thing, Gibson.
Amen.....BTW the first guy in Great Britain to have a double neck was Sheffield blues guitar local legend and unsung guitar hero...Frank White....in the 1980s he played every friday night a Sheffield Chapeltown pub the Pheasant...where you could witness a world class player...up there with Clapton...actually arguably a better more interesting player...the only guy who'd give frank a run for his money would be the Late Great Rory gallagher.....any Frank bought the 1st one and jimi the 2nd one...Frank's was white I believe
Just to let you know Cozart guitars makes one that looks pretty damn close to the Gibson. Granted it's made in china so you're not quite getting the quality but it's a double neck and you could always make believe! Hell you do with an Epiphone so why not?

Jimmy is the reason I started playing guitar, Eddie is the reason I kept playing. And to this day, Guthrie is the reason I keep striving to get better. Long live the electric guitar
Jimmy was my main guitar influence. Iommi and Angus Young were a close second and Angus was actually my first, but I told my guitar teacher that I wanted to be Jimmy Page.
So watching this video a couple things ran through my head:
1) Jimmy going around that factory getting the production tour was epic. Meeting all those workers, if I was working at Gibson making guitars and Jimmy Page came around and I got to speak with him and shake his hand.....CAREER HIGHLIGHT. I would get a picture of me shaking his hand, frame it and hang it in my guitar room 'til the day I died.
2) Jimmy signing every guitar, playing it and INCLUDING the pick he used on each one. OH MY GOD. What a great idea. These guitars are going to fly off the shelves.
3) I'm so happy for Mark Agnesi. He's doing a fantastic job at Gibson and just getting the opportunity to serve Gibson the way he is and as part of it getting to meet and interact with people like Jimmy Page. CAREER HIGHLIGHT. Great job Mark. Very proud of you.
4) The fact that Gibson is doing this and offering these guitars to the guitar player community is awesome. These guitars will be "Red Violins" in the coming decades long after you and I are gone, so Gibson producing these guitars with Jimmy is an opportunity for people in the future to get close to Jimmy as they pass into the hands of history.

Jimmy Page is one of those legends who even now continue to make history. He's my main inspiration to become a guitarist and form a band, and the main reason why I want a Gibson Les Paul. Let's hope he continues to have many more years of life, and that someday Rock will shine again in this new era, with the new generations continuing the Rock legacy.
