The old Loars usually have a woody, chimey bell tone across the strings whether the e string or the g string. It seemed like the notes just had a glow in them when picked. It can be heard in Monroes, Grismans, Skaggs, Joe Val, the one that Don Brown had. It can be heard on the recordings they have made. I had the good fortune to play the one Jim Orchard had and the Don Brown one. They have a treble cutting tone without losing their woody bass overtones. one word.....Awesome! Good to see the treble tone coming back somewhat in the new builds.

I don't know guys, based on everything you said about this Mandolin and the sound, playability and research done I would give this a 5 /5 across the board!

It's the most authentic copy of a Lloyd Loar you can get, it's a Gibson.
As far as the price, I'm an amateur Eastman 515 player, but somebody has to make the most expensive instrument, it may as well be Gibson.
I compare it to cars, the average new car is somewhere around $40k I'm not positive but there are cars in the million dollar range. Not for everyone but there's a market.
I'm sure they'll sell every one, I'm happy to see it. I've owned a mandolin for 45 years but only got into it 3 years ago. I've been wondering and asking about Gibson for three years.

I enjoy your channel, so please take this as constructive criticism. Please get the facts right and prepare for this type review better (after all you are the professionals), more than 3 times you referred to the previous model to which you compare this one to as a "Fern", that's not the case. The previous model was a Master Model with no fern associated with it, it was a flowerpot if you're referring to the headstock inlay. They did make a fern, but it was not what this instrument is replacing.

Doesn't really sound like you "enjoy the channel" -- what would you write if you didn't enjoy it???

@dennismoore7935 You must have an over active imagination. FYI, the boys at the Acoustic Shop -- in this video -- are not Gibson -- they just sell'em. In fact who do you mean by "Gibson is acting". It a company not a person and why wouldn't the mandolin builders at Gibson be proud of the fact that they have re-created the mandolin they first created in 1922 and that is a pretty damn big feat BTW.
