I never could have accomplished this without my Mane girl Mel! Much love to you - You are an absolute gem 💎 💖

Ahhh I wish every hair stylist was like you! I’ve gone to sooo many stylists and most of them do NOT listen to my input and none of them know how to work with textured hair. I tell them what I want and they just give me a generic cut that looks completely different from what I want and from my photo inspo. I’m in a country where most people’s hair is just super straight or really mildly wavy, so I guess it’s understandable. But it’s really frustrating. I wish stylists in my country learned more about textured hair!
Whenever I go for a haircut they always style it straight, since my waves can easily be brushed out. I haven’t gotten a haircut since discovering I’m wavy... interested to see how that’ll go
Sarah U i’m debating whether cutting my own hair or going to the hairdresser i’ve been going to for 6 years now, because i am transitioning idk what to do

It's usually the longest part of your hair, the heaviest and with the looser curl pattern than the front. I want to figure out how to tell my stylist what I need in the back. I love my front curls but hate seeing the back of my head looking a lot less curly and sort of heavy. I see layers being cut in the back, but how much layering is possible to make the back look more integrated with the front?

I was literally going to tell her to do whatever she wanted with my hair lmao, now i know how to ask her what i really want, than you so much!
Thank you SO much for recognizing that wavy hair is different from straight. My hair is 2b with a bit of 2c on top and 2a underneath my hair, and when my hair gets cut as if it was straight it just doesnt do anything good for my curls, but when i get it cut like a wavy hairstyle it just makes my hair look SO MUCH better.

Ladies, you did it!!!! Thx! Amber looks fantastic! Mel, thank you for the pointers on how to communicate with my hairdresser. I move between cities a lot, and learning how to communicate with a new hairdresser is KEY. So far, the two best hairdressers I've ever had are Giancarlo when I lived in Italy, and Paula my childhood friend who's actually a dentist, but knows my hair better anyone (it ranges from 1 to 2b). People even stop me in the street and ask who is my hairdresser, when I say it's my dentist, they ask if she takes hair appointments LOL! The best thing about having someone in healthcare do your hair: She calls me a couple of days later to ask me how I feel about the haircut, and asks if I've had any issues after washing and styling it myself. Ha!
I would love to see more wavy hair tutorials! I've been working on repairing 2c/3a curls from over 10 years of heat damage so I really appreciate the wavy tutorials! Thanks Mell :))
Thank you so much for these videos. I have fine wavy hair, and most curly hair tutorials only talk about hair types that are nothing like mine. I love that you can discuss all different hair types and help all of us. I also love watching your videos because they’re professional, fun, and I always learn something.
I would love to see videos on dealing with varying curl patterns on the same head, and also finger coiling-like a really slooooowed down and closeup video.
Hey I won’t say anything if it works for you!! Sounds like you need a lot of hair thinned, but the tighter the texture, the bigger the nighmare! I would never use them on curlier hair, but to each their own!
@@ManesByMell Thanks for responding😍. Im more of a 3A curly hair at the front and the back is more wavy🤦🏻♀️. Underneath my hair is 3A and sometimes there is a 3B curl under there🤗
I have 2B/C curls underneath and more of a 3A on my top layers and fringe. absolutely go for it! I cut my fringe myself during quarantine and have been loving it. now I had it cut better by a hairstylist and I love it even more. I really do think 3A curls look absolutely amazing as a little fringe/framing pieces.
My daughter had a really cute cut when she was younger. She stopped letting me brush her hair so I got tired of chasing her around house with a brush so the hairstylist did a great job but in the computer only put a bob for the type of cut. No details because it was short like a bob but the sides feathered back. So it wouldn’t hang in front of her face and get in the way.So when we went back the stylist no longer worked there anymore and no one knew where she went. So I tried explaining the cut and only had a few pics of my daughter side view. No back view of cut. So the hairstylist gave her a regular bob cut. No feathered sides going towards back. So the sides always flopped forward in her face. Instead of sweeping away from face. Ever since then I can’t find a stylist to do the cut my daughter once had.
I HATEEE that. I found my favourite hair stylist after many years.. went back the month later and she was gone as well. Tried getting the same cut with others but it was never the same :(
Same😂 I’m tired of chasing my daughter. So I figured the best way to do her (very soft curly hair) in the shower while she chills and play. After the shower it’s impossible to catch her. Even if she’s sitting and I go do her hair she runs away😂😂😂
Oh Mell I wish you lived closer to me. Recently went to hairdressers after they reopened. Told her how my hair is falling out BIG TIME and told her I wanted a cut that would restore the curls but not expose any bald patches. It was only after she finished that I realised that she must have lost her eyesight during lockdown. Sweet mother of god! Talk about brutal. Up one side and down the other. All crooked. THE MOST BRUTAL HAIRCUT I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I'm 50 - I've had a LOT of haircuts. And NOTHING off the layers. She literally spent 4.5 minutes cutting and walked off to attend to another customer. And charged me €70 for the displeasure. Never again. I'm now trying to find another hairdresser to rectify this frickin mess. Bad enough going bald without that crap.
@@peteto818 I've had all that checked. I take multivitamins and biotin every day so that's fine. My thyroid is underactive. Just found that out recently in blood tests. Amber’s hair looks amazing! I have my first curly hair appointment in two weeks this really helps getting what I want to convey to my stylist all in one coherent thought.
So great that you communicate with the client ahead of time. I stopped in a new place a few days before to discuss, then seen my sis with long hair & changed my mind. I tried to tell my new hairdresser to just trim it but she convinced me to go forward with the layers, and used the textured scissors. I feel it's too short. I can't wait till it grows out. Not having, not really liking either. Her hair looks great!!👍🏼👍🏼
Mell, you inspired me to become myself and let my hair be natural. and now I have started this journey after 23 years. and my hair looks so much healthier than before. however my crown area and most of my roots are so frizzy and hard to maintain. please save me, I am loosing hope but I don't want to go back a straighten my hair. i asked you this before plz do a video on this.
OMG what a transformrion! I have a little bit tighter wave pattern than what Amber has and just got it layered in almost the exact same hair cut! I love it so much
THANK YOU so much for this video, I really needed to see this! I want a very similar haircut (but with a longer fringe) so next time I will show my stylist a picture of Amber's end result and I will bring up all the points you mentioned. I have wavy hair with 3a curls at the ends so I hope it will look even better with some more layering
For someone like me who has always wondered about the actual techniques of cutting hair (I'm basically blind in the chair after I take my glasses off, so it just kept nd of looks like a lot of flailing arm movements 😆), this video is sooooo helpful! Thanks!!!
I'm not sure why, but watching Mel videos always make me happy :3 love the new haircut on Amber! Also, a fellow wavy here, and I'm hugely grateful for styling tips on a wavy hair. TY!
Thanks for this, I won’t dread booking my next haircut now. Have you got time to run curly/wavy but hair stylist school in your spare time 😉😂. I’m not sure if it’s just me or anywhere else is like this but curly cut hairdressers seem to be like gold dust in the U.K.. definitely showing my hair stylist this video. Big loves to you and your family 💜
I’ve been going to the same lady to cut my hair since I was a baby. I’m 19 now and she knows exactly what I want my wavy hair to look like so we don’t need a whole discussion🙈
I have pin straight very fine hair. This is the cut I like, to add volume. Your video will help me describe what I want next time I get a cut. It's been 4 or 5 years, I'm due
Bounce Curl is such a good brand to start off with on your curly hair journey (they are very easy to use). I’ve been on it for about 2 months and my curls form so beautifully with these two products. Air drying works so well (although it takes me about 5-6 hrs LOL) I know there are so many products out there to choose from and it can be quite overwhelming. Thank you Mel I actually learned a lot of application tips and how to coil my hair from your videos 🥰
Yes yES YES! : ) Booked my first curly cut for my wavy hair this morning! THIS MORNING! You are psychic! I will be using ALL these tips! Thank you for the timely video. Yes to all future wavy videos!
Ugh this is so helpful! I’m so sick of my stylists knowing I have 3a curls/waves and never heat style and STILL cut my hair wet and then add “blow dried curls” because it’s easier to take a picture for their Instagram when the hair is heat styled
Thank you SO MUCH for these wavy hair vids! Especially this one, because I haven't reallt known what to ask for or what I need in a haircut to enhance my waves. 😍
She looks darling- you did a great job! The layers frame her face and lightens up the hair so it curls better. Pretty girls with fabulous hair seem to run in your family. :)
I'm in for a non-specialty cut in 2 weeks because there aren't any round where I live, so this is amazing because I was due before March lockdown in the UK. My hair is all the type 2 with some bits of 3A that clump occasionally, but because my hair is not layered at the moment, the top is flat and weighted and only start waving/curling halfway down. I love wavy videos by a trusted specialist because although I love my hairdresser, she tends to style it quite old-fashioned so I need to explain well what I want.
I've got wavy hair underneath then my top layers are ringlets which is a pain atm. I'm due to visit a new hairstylist next week but I don't even know if they can cut and shape my kind of hair! I guess i'll just hope and find out *fingers crossed*

You're so sweet thank you for your comment
Love you Mell !! I love watching you!! I wish I could find a person that could layer long thick curly hair around me!!❤
Mell, you inspired me to become myself and let my hair be natural. and now I have started this journey after 23 years. and my hair looks so much healthier than before. however my crown area and most of my roots are so frizzy and hard to maintain. please save me, I am loosing hope but I don't want to go back a straighten my hair. i asked you this before plz do a video on this.
I’m getting a haircut in a week! This cane out at just the right time! 🥰❤️
Yay to more wavy hair tutorials! I find that my wavy hair is beautiful but tricky since it changes so much from day to day.
Yes, I can’t wait! Love this channel!
jennifer cruz thank you so much we love to hear it!! ❤️
Manes by Mell OMG Just made my day 😄
This couldn’t have been better timing! I’m getting a haircut tomorrow with a similar hair type to hers. Thank you so much you just saved my hair ❤️
I’m so excited for you!! Best of luck💖💖
For someone like me who has always wondered about the actual techniques of cutting hair (I'm basically blind in the chair after I take my glasses off, so it just kept nd of looks like a lot of flailing arm movements 😆), this video is sooooo helpful! Thanks!!!
Love seeing the wavy hair videos. Makes me feel better about my natural texture
I like the layers and the volume that you gave to Amber's hair. Thanks for the questions that we need to ask our hairstylist.
I love it that you are also showing different hair types.. very very helpful..
How is this actually perfect😱😱
The cut gave her so much healthy looking hair. You look great! Violet NYC
I appreciate you making videos for different hair types ! I find myself a blend of wavy and curly so it’s very helpful. You guys rock!
Thank you! I found a wave/curl salon near me and my so excited to make my appearance now!!! 🎉❤
LOVE IT:::: I totally want to get my hair layered now 😃❤️💋 Amber is glowing and she looks so Fabulous 🥰👍🏽
You should! Send this video to your stylist haha
I have wavy hair, and this was really helpful. I need a haircut, and now I know how to describe what I want. Thanks.
Love your videos! Would love to see a tutorial on how to refresh & reset day 2+ curly hair that has gotten stringy.
I have pin straight very fine hair. This is the cut I like, to add volume. Your video will help me describe what I want next time I get a cut. It's been 4 or 5 years, I'm due
texture tuesday is literally my favorite day of the week
Same here 🤣
Bounce Curl is such a good brand to start off with on your curly hair journey (they are very easy to use).
I always thoroughly enjoy your videos. They are so informative yet very entertaining. I just love that beautiful gold clip in your hair.
She looks so pretty with her new cut!
I wish there were more stylist like you
Very informative
Always such a happy moment when your next video is up. Thank you so much. You make it look easy breezy and fun to care for wavy / curly hair.
I love textured tuesday! Thank you for always including the bloopers ❤ Amazing as always
They’re my favourite part 😝
Yes, please! More Wavy hair tutorials!💛✨😄
Unrelated but where is your hair piece from? It’s really cute
Omg thank you for making these wavy hair videos. I have 2b/2c wavy hair and these are super helpful! I love your energy!
Thank you! I have pin-straight hair, but my oldest daughter has waves!
YOU ARE THE BEST MEL! THANKS for speaking up for us WAVIES💜
I've got wavy hair underneath then my top layers are ringlets which is a pain atm. I'm due to visit a new hairstylist next week but I don't even know if they can cut and shape my kind of hair! I guess i'll just hope and find out *fingers crossed*
