- Badminton thumb grip. The thumb grip is the most used grip in badminton when using the backhand, and the grip where you add power to your shots. The thumb grip can also be the ending up point from the bevel grip, meaning that you can start your power shot at the bevel grip, and then rotating the grip inside your hand ending up with a thumb grip, that way you can generate more power.
I will show you where to use it, and how to use it - Let´s GO😃
It is crucial to hold the grip with loose fingers so you can generate the power when using the finger power. Also important to use the rotation in the forehand to generate even more power. Watch the video to learn more...🤩

Very cool. The thumb grip in hammer style is my backhand drive in tennis. I badminton it's logical to hold in a thumb grip pistol style due to the smaller handle and light flexy racquet.
These exercises really work. It is easy to practice. Thanks for helpful video. I hope you will share more and more techniques us.
Thanks a lot, yes we have tons og tutorials on our channel, subscribe to get the latest every week👍🏻
Once again, brilliant video, great camera angles from above and demonstration of technique, many thanks and stay safe👍
Recently ordered a Yonex Voltric 2DG slim, I'm a beginner on the journey to intermediate.
Sounds great, good luck getting to the next level 👌🏻

CoachI have one question that is when to use backhand shots? in most of the pro level rallies the players rarely hits backhand clears, I do not understand how they take the shuttles sooo early so that they can use forehand even in the backhand corner 🤯
Thanks a lot👌🏻 Yes agree not many backhands used at Pro level, they are SO good going away from the center to move to that corner, the footwork really needs to be quick and explosive💪🏻
@@BadmintonFamly Got that, then I need to move away fast to the cornar to take it forehand 👍 will have to do workouts to strengthen my legs 🦾💪 Thanks coach 🧡🤍💚 please visit India someday 🙏
What are the exercises to increase the finger power
You can get hand/finger strengthing machines, guitar/bass players can use it also.
For forearms you can get this hand device with adjustable spring.
Or UA-cam videos on climbers how to increase grip strength.
I hope you will create hammer grip video
I will very soon👌🏻
Sir I am good player but unable to buy good racquets and shuttles for practice what should I do? How can I manage them
i face so many difficulties in using forehand grip
Yes it can be tricky, try using the forearm rotation to hit the shuttle clean on. Or you can join Badminton Famly+ and learn more 😁

When I’m play my biss up very pain why
Would you also advocate using the bevel grip for smash defence? If so, are there any adjustments required to the stroke?
Yes i use the bevel grip (almost a thumb) in the defense. Then when adding power/fingerpower i rotate around inside my hand ending up with the thumb grip.👍🏻
@@BadmintonFamly Thanks for the reply! I thought you were using the thumb grip throughout the defence stroke, but it's hard to tell from the video, so I'm glad I checked!
Hi, it's already an old video, but still, i want to ask something, trying to improve my skill.
.
as compare with, say ,power smash,
.
1. we start with loose grip, then start to swing,
2. adding finger power, and
3. finally......... HOLD THE HANDLE OF YHE RACKET VERY TIGHT and hit the shuttle.
.
for backhand strokes using thumb grip, say,
.
net kill,
push drives , and
defence,
.
as you said,
.
1. we start with loose grip, start the arm motion,
2. adding finger power,then ,
.
3. do we have to "hold the handle of the racket very tight" to hit the shuttle ?
.
Tighten up the grip while hitting the shuttle, the timing is very important 👍🏻
Is it necessary to hold grip tightly when hitting the shuttle does it helps in hitting shutting more accurate and with power please help me sir I am so confused 😢😖
It is important to hold loose and then add the finger power to generate more power. Tight grip = more power and loose grip = more accurate shots
@@BadmintonFamly oh but when I hit smash should I hold tightly does it enhance my power of smash
I wanted this only
Thanks to the badmintion family
Thats amazing to hear, glad you like it👏🏻
Thomas, how is the situation of COVID-19 at your place??
Background score source anyone
Bend the racket yo!
Hi. I have difficulty when I am using thumb grip for smash defence. The opponent hits a couple of smashes to me left and I return it easily, but when the third shot lands towards my right side, I don't have enough power to return the shuttle deeply since it is to my forehand and the opponent kills it after that. Any tips on how to handle this?
Very important to use the forearm rotation in the side. Get the elbow way out and rotate the forearm💪🏻
@@BadmintonFamly Thanks for the input 👍🏽😀
What strings and tension were used?
BG80 at 14kg💪🏻
@@BadmintonFamly Thanks!
Indonesia subtitle please... Thank's

@@BadmintonFamly yea... but... the shuttle keep stuck at net or it became a drive and goes out (help me)
I will try to make a tutorial about that later on👌🏻
@@BadmintonFamly yes thank you
How to smash
We have many smash videos on our channel👌🏻
Try to avoid using this grip. It limits the range of the shots a lot.
