    Thank you very much Tobais. I am a college student in India, and I love badminton. This video of yours has corrected my forehand, and I cannot express in words how good it feels to me, because I'm so passionate about badminton.
    I also saw your smash and clear video, and I have to say that your channel is by far the best UA-cam badminton channel. The patience with which you explain, the clarity, the details and the step-by-step explanation feel like an elder brother teaching the game.
    Can't thank you enough. Looking forward to more of your videos, and wishing the best for you.....

    Tobias, this is the best video on grips I have ever come across. Most people tell only about V grip and Thumb grip. I have seen many players try using Thumb grip for backhand clear which turns into a drop or not using pan handle grip as required in some cases coz of which shuttle goes outside the court. Thanks for this amazing video, brother.

    Really clear explanation on the different grip, perfect for beginner. Its is one of the best i have seen so far on youtube. Just one thing i think u forget to mention: for forehand clear/smash, the neutral grip shld be adjusted ever so slightly so that the racket head hits the shuttle squarely, else the shots will end up to have some slices in them. Coach lee jae bok also talked about this in one of his video. Keep up the good work, will definitely share your video to my friends who are just getting into badminton.

    again, excellent tutorial! It's so easy to take this kind of information for granted, but loosening your grip and shoulders in preparation is so fundamental to reaction it's not even funny.
    Also, pointing small things like relax and tighten just before impact are very useful tips. I've honestly never used the panhandle grip or the front/back in-between grip. I reckon those are slightly more advanced grips. I still find myself too often losing grip on the handle when switching FH and BH.

      Kotkan joulupukki use v grip to hit clear shots. V grip if used correctly generates lot of power. You can send from baseline to base line.
      You have to hold racquet initially loose and slightly tighten it just before hitting bird. You have to hit bird at the highest point.
      For smash also you need to use v grip.
      It’s not easy to understand and implement this grip initially. But when practice you will get it.

    I have watched a lot badminton coaching videos throughout the years and I must say your videos are simply the best! I wish I would have seen your videos years ago because a lot of crucial things are not mentioned by the other coaches and I had to figure them out myself. Many talented players and coaches naturally acquire the correct techniques simply by training a lot and they actually don‘t know why their shots are so powerful and precise. Being a German probably helps you in approaching the game systematically and scientifically ;) I wish you a successful coaching career!

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  5 років тому +2

      Thank you very much! I think you are right that a good technique can come natural especially for motorically gifted players, but knowing how the movements work is in my eyes very important for coaches and a lot of players can also benefit from it. Still it is important to see the whole picture and not always make things to complicated or go into details when it is not nescessary. So there i think "being german" can also be a challenge but i try to find the balance ;)

      @@tobiaswadenka8435 I am not sure about the other players but I personally like everything explained to me thoroughly:) I only have time to play once a week. That's why I always try to learn more about the game offline to further progress. In fact, I managed to improve my game a lot compared to other players who play much more regularly. Although you mentioned in this video that one should have a loose grip and only tighten it at the last moment, you did not explain why. I might be wrong but here how I see it. The force generated by the racket is largely determined by the racket head speed (F=m*v^2). By tightening the grip at the very last moment, you inject more speed to the racket head. Combined with the pronation of the forearm one can generate much more power than a big racket swing alone. Moreover, the angle when the racket contacts the shuttle also affects the force. That's why one has to change the backhand grip almost to a panhandle grip when the shuttle is much far behind, just to keep the angle right. Hopefully I am not talking bullshit and I am happy if you can correct me :) Viele Grüße aus Wien.

    Could you please refer some foot excercises to avoid injury....and if you have had an ankle injury how to recover fast and how much time does it take.........

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  4 роки тому +2

      Best thing i can recommend here is a balance pad. I had 3 ankle injuries and since then i use before every training and many times in the morning and never had any problems again. Here I talk about it in detail: ua-cam.com/video/vWXbewFKVPM/v-deo.html
      The recovery time of course depends on the injury and also on the person. The most common ankle injury in badminton is a ruptured ligament and there you usually need around 3-5 weeks to recover. Very important here: Start already after a few days to move your foot and try to build up mobilty and range of motion in your ankle, so the broken ligament won't become too inflexible after the healing process. But of course only doexercises that do not cause any pain.

      When the grip is loose your index finger shoul be above the thumb. As soon as you really tighten the grip (for example when you want to hit with power) than the index finger moves under the thumb

    Hello, I was always wondering how thick should badminton grip be should I go thin or should I go thick grip? Thank in advance. Love your channel

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  3 роки тому

      It depends a lot on the size of your hand. As a guidline I would say if you hold the racketgrip tight the tip of your middlefinger should slightly touch the inside of your hand. A lot of players tend to have a grip that is too thick and that makes it difficult to quickly change the grip and and it is also harder to feel the different edges with the hand. They help to get a better feeling for your grip position

    Also if you're doing the forehand, backhand exercise in the forehand it's more about the panhandle instead of the v grip right? Because i feel like the v grip is not too optimal for drives and hitting in front and i'm kinda struggling to switch and differentiate between v-grip and panhandle, they feel really similar.

    • @tobiaswadenka8435

    Because this (V grip) felt loose, and I am used to wrap my hand around the handle like a closed fist 🤣 this way, the racket is secured 😂 I am trying to correct this, thanks.

      It depends a little on the situation, sometimes you cannalmost predict what shot you will have to play abd therefore go into the right grip early, but most of the times keep a relaxed v grip, from there you get into the others very quickly
