  • Badminton hammer grip - The panhandle grip is used in many places on court, but still be careful using it too much, as you can get "locked" in that position. The hammer grip is the grip most beginners and kids use, as it is the most natural grip to do, because you think the strings need to be parallel towards the shuttle, but that is wrong. If you hold a 100% hammer/panhandle grip then you can´t rotate the forearm and add power to your shots. I will show you where to use it, and how to use it - Let´s GO😃

    Thank you for making this video! A new weapon to practice! I stayed away from hammer grip because I thought it was 'the beginner thing to do and a taboo,' - thanks for the lesson.

    Other videos on youtube say there is difference between panhandle and hammer grip. In panhandle, the racquet is to be held like a pinch, i.e. thumb on and fingers on the either sides. In hammer grip we wrap our fingers around the handle. Isn't this the case?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  3 роки тому +2

      Im pretty sure the term is the same👍🏻 In Denmark we usually say hammer grip or sometimes frying pan grip🙃

    • @boliusabol822
      @boliusabol822 3 роки тому +1

      +sanchit The term "hammer grip" is ambiguous e.g. I know a coach outside denmark that uses hammer grip to mean the classic forehand V grip(which is not what this video is on). The term panhandle is clearer for the grip demonstrated here, as that is used internationally.

  • @boliusabol822
    @boliusabol822 3 роки тому

    The term panhandle grip is understood internationally. The term "hammer grip" is a funny one 'cos people hold a hammer with a classic forehand v grip. So some people outside denmark use hammer to refer to that rather than panhandle.

    Hi huge fan of your work, I just subscribed to the badminton famly monthly plan.
    @ 2:42 you said that we have to rotate all the way to go to the thumb grip. But isn't "hammer grip" a "thumb grip" with thumb on the sides. This means you won't have to rotate at all. This might be the most versatile grip of all bcz changing to backhand is so easy ??

    Hi Thomas, you said you need to rotate all the way at ua-cam.com/video/wdm7qtjvZbk/v-deo.html but if you play fast drives and you play forehand and then backhand you can just put thumb on a grip from panhandle to get a thumb grip and does not need to rotate racket :) Changing grip and not rotating racket is actually faster than rotating racket WITH changing grip :) Also, when playing with panhandle/thumb backhand, do you do a "follow through" or shortly after hitting shuttle? I saw a video from LYD (ua-cam.com/video/dfEyae_qoHg/v-deo.html) where he says that you should follow through for more power but I guess you cannot do it in a super fast exchanges (or does this apply more with drives with arm rotation?). Thanks!

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, interesting idea to change the thumb around and not the racket, i don´t think the top players do this, and i must try next time a train for sure 😊 Yes the follow through for more power but not if you use small and quick movements of course like you say.

      @BadmintonFamly  4 роки тому +2

      That is fine but you can try changing to the hammer grip just a bit to in most cases get a cleaner hit💪🏻
