- SCP-3034 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Counting Station.
SCP-3034 is a mysterious radio broadcast broadcast from an unknown origin that has been connected to multiple cases of missing children. All SCP 3034 broadcasts follow the same format and contain a musical tone followed by a female voice reading a series of numbers in Russian, much like the Numbers Stations that are known to have been used by both US and Soviet spies during the Cold War. When dealing with SCP3034 a very specific protocol must be followed to stop her countdown, or there is no telling what might happen. Could it be a horrible nuclear disaster? Or something even worse? An apocalyptic event that none of us would survive?

I believe this scp is inspired by an actual radio station called mdzhb which is an abandoned russian radio station that has been broadcasting weird signals since the 1970s

For anyone who actually heard this back in the 70's and 80's these were called numbers stations and the numbers were a coded bordcast by spys transmitting intelligence. We had them to transmitting in English in different parts of the world. If you didn't know what was happening they were creepy as hell.

@@toastitup3482 Uhh, no. It quite literally says she was moved as a D-class "researcher". Theres no need to give her amnestics because she's still going to know about the SCPs anyway. Amnestics are given to the public whenever they find out about SCPs and other SCP foundation secrets they aren't supposed to know. Its the SCP version of the Men in Black forget laser.
And there's good reason why they shouldn't let such a careless and risky person who caused a worldwide event making children disappear free with no memories since they can easily conclude she's now a death row criminal for every country where children has gone missing.
You forgot the best part! After the child disappearances, not only did it start at 199. The distortion in the background also immensely increased!
For those who are unaware, GRU Division "P" ("Psychotronics") was basically a Russian version of The Foundation that ran under The Soviet Union (thank u Stalin👀). When the USSR got dissoluted, so did GRU-P, with several files and anomalies transferred into Foundation Custody. They ran into Sarkics a lot, which is odd as the religion was formed further in Siberia, but time is time. 👁

Any radio transmission can be traced; if it has an origin point you can triangulate the signal based on signal lag to at least two points near enough to the origin to hear it (thus the term _triangulate,_ since you draw lines between three points to form a triangle). Further analysis can determine of the signal is moving in a given direction based on whether the wavelength is growing wider or shorter, depending on the sensitivity of your equipment. The more receivers you have, the more accurate your triangulation. The reason _this_ one is anomalous (besides the consequences for not following the routine) is that it has no apparent source. The caveat is that if the signal is sufficiently far away, you need to move the receivers farther apart to get an accurate triangulation. For example, studying the same star at different times of year, when the earth is at different points in its orbit, gives you a large number of data points to compare against each other and allow you to get a more accurate range and relative location of that star, as well as which direction it's moving in relative to Earth.
The problem is, what if the entire earth acts as a transmitter, so even if it was possible to triangulate it, it would be everywhere.

looked into the original scp post.
After the incident where the signal broadcasted a scream, the next broadcast of the SCP didn't just start at 199. The file noted that the "distortion" in the signal was louder. Now granted that we know that said distortion is children's screams, and now the screams are louder AFTER a sudden surge of child disappearances...
Yeah: It's obvious that interfering caused all those innocent, random children to be taken by whatever entity is behind this SCP, and their tortured screams are added to this agonized chorus.
It reminds me of IT, in a way: All the children it had eaten had their souls stored in its deadlights, tortured for all eternity (the remake movie shows this exceptionally well).
The scariest thing about this is that this was an actual worldwide broadcast a few years ago

There are web pages on which you can listen to recorded real broadcasts. They certainly have an eerie atmosphere, like an old spies film.
Oh, so that's why it sounds like a whole story built around something that already exists. That would explain why it's one of the most vague SCPs.
Since new generations of people lose their connections with old technology it somehow makes sense that secretive groups regardless of their purpose may possibly use this old technology to transmit secret messages to each other.
Plus, Sometimes Simple is good.
And because its old and "no one will use that because there are more new advanced technology" No one will suspect a thing
Modern countries will invest in modern technology to intercept modern messages, so they just leave old technology in the trash. So using old technology in the future might be more efficient.

I didn't think I would ever feel the need to say this, but thank you for having a narrator with a pleasant voice who always speaks in coherent sentences, and for having animators who don't misspell extremely common SCP words like "Keter" and "metal." An often forgotten element of horror is vulnerability. Not only is this vital for the people trying to survive the nightmare, but it's also vital for the monster/killer/ghost/spooky thing. It's why so many of these modern ghost horror movies are so bad, because the ghost can just do whatever the hell they want. It's why slasher movies stop being good after the first or second entry. There is no tension when the audience knows the monster/killer/ghost/spooky thing can't be stopped, and tension is key in horror.
If you want a good example of how this is done well, then watch the original Predator.

MY THEORY IS : Maybe that Russian girl was a young mother at sometime and she may have died when her children were young. Maybe she counts down to wait for someone to tell her that "are the children alright? " When we say "all is well".she stops. But if we say something else, she gets worried and picks up some children at random to " take care of them".Alternatively, she could be a pregnant woman who died while giving birth to her baby (since the doctors suggest women to count during the delivery to distract their mind from the pain and stress , so maybe the counting stuck in her head during her final moments and now she uses it as a way to express her worry about "her children" And we have to tell her that "all is well") .Though she maybe cursed as she must be torturing those little children at her place. You know much like a ghost of a young cursed mother lololol

Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Three Foundation personnel are to remain on-site, with at least one employee monitoring radio frequencies for occurrences of SCP-3034. All personnel are to have at least C1 certifications in Russian. Radio equipment is to receive weekly diagnostic checks to ensure all devices are in working condition. Personnel are rotated off-site on a monthly basis.
If, at any time, an occurrence of SCP-3034 is detected, personnel are to immediately respond on the same frequency with a message in Russian: все хорошо ("All is well"). In any instance where communication is lost with the site, MTF Epsilon-10 ("Santa's Little Helpers") will be mobilized to investigate and secure the area.
Under no circumstances is on-site radio equipment to be used for any other purpose besides transmitting the phrase, "все хорошо" ("All is well"). Under no circumstances should an attempt be made to communicate with SCP-3034 (see attached incident report).
Under no circumstances are children permitted on-site.
Description: SCP-3034 is a reoccurring anomalous radio broadcast of unknown origin. As of this date, the transmission has only been observed within approximately 2 kilometers of Provisional Site-3034. All attempts to triangulate the source of SCP-3034 have failed. Since 1964, there have been over 627 occurrences of this broadcast. They occur at apparently random intervals - the shortest gap being two weeks, and the longest, 6 months.
All occurrences of SCP-3034 follow the same format: A synthesized musical 'tone' plays for approximately 10 seconds, followed by the voice of SCP-3034-A (estimated to be a female adolescent of Russian nationality). SCP-3034-A immediately begins to count backwards from 200 in Russian (UPDATE 2015/05/17: See attached incident report). If, during this countdown, Provisional Site-3034 broadcasts "все хорошо" on the same frequency, SCP-3034-A immediately stops counting. The same tone from the beginning of the broadcast plays again, and the broadcast ends.
A notable audio distortion occurs in the background of SCP-3034 as SCP-3034-A speaks:
Attempts to analyze this distortion are ongoing (see attached audio analysis below).
Testing has shown that SCP-3034 does not respond to recorded occurrences of "все хорошо". It is for this reason that personnel must be present at Provisional Site-3034 at all times.

Almost anomalous
You know a lot of radio stuff can be really intriguing and very mysterious. I worked in the radio industry with high voltage communication for overseas radio calls and my boss would have a few ham radios set up. He also had an extender for Ham radio setup next to it. There would be constantly random Morse code sent out or numbers being called out by a female voice. Come to find out that's just the boosters that are on that broadcast wave. There are different boosters that obviously have different numbers assigned to them so when your ham radio is in range of a booster every 20 or so minutes you typically get either Morse code as your number sequence or someone will just announce it with their voice.
With absolutely zero context it is very creepy. The first time I heard it I was alone at night and that building and it's very old and it feels haunted. So hearing that kind of made me freak out until I asked my boss the next day and he explained what was going on. Come to find out a lot of these weird and creepy numbers stations are literally just announcing tuning frequencies or they're there to essentially help make sure that people are not only tuned into the right station but still have the ability to hear it. Like if you were using a radio to communicate with base camp and it was giving out a tone every 30 minutes but then all the sudden that tone didn't come through for like 40 minutes then you know you're too far away from base camp and need to return.
Still though I love the fact that something like this is an scp.
Reminds me of the real-life story of a broadcast from Russia that is holding a frequency open at all times. You hear a klaxon and a Russian guys voice...then dead air..but the channel stays open.

This is based off a real thing, a random place in Russia is (may have stopped now idk) just broadcasting random numbers with noises accompanying. It’s really interesting.

Takes me back in the day I was listing to the AM and Shortwave bands back in the day. I need to check in it more just to entertain my curiosity since I'm making a crystal set radio on my spare time.
