- SCP 179 is a Thaumiel Class anomaly also known as Sauelsuesor.
SCP-179 is a humanoid entity located at a constant distance of approximately 40,000 km from the South polar region of the solar photosphere.
Through the combined effort of 43 years of continuous surveying, the external appearance of SCP179 has been defined as a human female of undetermined ethnic group of between twenty and forty years of age. Its entire bodily surface is covered in or composed of a matte black material.

179 is one of my personal favorites. She isn’t an unknowable horror bent on pure annihilation, just a super mysterious woman with an interesting story.
I blame Lovecraft for the average person's craving for a cosmic horror.

She said that she aids others, yet foundation reaserchers saw her point only at objects targeting the Earth.
Maybe people on Earth can only observe her reaction to Earth bound objects, and let's say people on Mars can only observe her reaction to Mars bound objects, that way she can help everyone without tipping anyone to the existence of others.
or maybe by others she means serpent's hand, given they also take care of this world without harming anomalies

Maybe her brother isn't the sun, but every star. She could be everywhere an inhabited planet is.
Or, perhaps by helping Earth, she helps other worlds and dimensions by extension. Earth being one of many nexus points of unimaginable cause/effect catalysts.

Some trivia relating to 179 that I found.
1) Her name means "Sister of the Sun" in an ancient Indo European language.
2) Assuming her hair grows at a normal human rate and has not been cut, the length of her hair would indicate she is approximately 22,700 years old.
3) This is both a translation and a rewrite of SCP-ES-026, both written by the same author.
4) This was posted during Series 3, which makes me wonder what SCP-179 originally was. Only thing I could find is an air canister that can spray an endless supply of deadly gas, with the type of gas being random.
You would likely find your answer on the wayback machine.
But considering it was during Series 3 and that was around the time when SCP wiki staff were dealing with a few high profile bans, its likely the original 179 was deleted as part of one of a specific group of high profile users being banned.
I believe the original 179 (assuming what you found was true) was put back up under a different designation, a slight rewrite, and put in Explained and reused in the Dammerung canon.

A very interesting SCP, and also the very first I saw a video about. So this is a go back to the origins, so to speak.
Speaking of origins, I think it can be ascertained that SCP-179 is of human origins, elevated in some fashion to a position of nigh-divinity. Now, it may not be related, but there is an SCP out there that is a set of instructions for a ritual/ceremony that if successful, makes the practitioner ascend to a higher plane of existence. What happens afterward is unknown, but it makes me wonder if Sauelsuesor could have gone through said ritual and eventually found her calling among the stars.

The symbols on her body are not only alchemy symbols but also symbols of the celestial bodies of the Solar System in astrology. For example: the symbol on her forehead being the Sun. The one around her mouth being the symbol for Mercury, the one on her chest being Venus and so on until the last symbol I could see, which was Saturn. I can't see the other symbols for the other planets on her, though, so I don't know if they are there.
Funny how the statue also had the se thing, a golden head and the rest.....it was destroyed by a meteor
I recognised them as planetary symbols as well, and was surprised to hear they had been attributed to elements like gold and copper.
This is because alchemists would use these signs not just to represent metals, but the planetary bodies. Considering old school alchemy is the idea of mixing the sciences and magic teachings together, it makes sense that they would likely have had some solid training in astrology, which is likely where the symbols originated from in terms of usage

I love that in this world SCP-179 casually told the researchers that they are not alone in the solar system. Plus if there were any speculation from other SCP extra terrestrial beings 179 just confirmed it.
According to the list of things doctor bright is not allowed to do, 179 considers him a threat to humanity.

The sun is a medium sized star. Dwarves are blue, white, or brown from Earth. I make that distinction because the sun, unfiltered through the atmosphere, is white.

There’s an instance I read of this SCP where the foundation noticed her looking in another direction, alerting whatever could see her in that area.
If I remember correctly, she watches a comet collide with Jupiter.

I almost feel like one thing the foundation could try doing is later on just having calm conversations with her, for no particular reason, just conversing with an entity of unfathomable greatness and benevolence. I feel like she must be nice to talk with, even if only about the things she's seen in her time as the lookout. I'd like to just sit down and listen to her descriptions of the beauty of whatever celestial happenings she may often witness from the mouth of a being whose life revolves around doing so.

I’m very glad for this one, she’s one of my favorites, (Cassie 085 will always be most beloved). I loved reading the description of what she looked like the first time I read it.
It’s wholesome that SCP-179 talks so fondly of her brother, but I’d like to see what would happen to 179 When Day Breaks. Would she be affected? Would she try to maybe destroy her brother? Would she travel to another galaxy/universe to find a new purpose in life? This is just an interesting idea I’ve had for a while.

Y'know, her speech implies that she's sightly more anomalous than a giant woman being a lookout for Earth. Non-anomalous answer would be that there's a sort of pattern to the chaos of the universe that she can see, so placing herself where she can be seen by all that she helps & her gesticulations are helpful to can be seen as is necessary. The more likely answer is that her anomalous nature makes it so that the observer effectively "registers" the planet that they're on & perceives her as pointing as is valid for the planet they're on for her to "point" for. Might be something that a trip to Area-32 could help for testing

mars is iron, and im assuming that Jupiter and Saturn are tin and lead. Earths symbol doesnt have an association with metal to my knowledge. Mars is definitely iron though
