Subbed because of the "fuck its hot". I was standing in my garage, watching this video, smoking a cigarette, surrounded by my tools, I was thinking the same damn thing.
Nice review Brad! I own the Quinn ones because of you and picked up quite a bit of the Doyle stuff. For the price I think these offer tremendous value no matter who you are and what you do at any level.
As much as I hate to admit it, out of knipex, channellock, Wilde, and various import side cutters that I own....the Doyle pair I have just like those....well, they’re my favorite pair. I just like the way they feel in my hand, the angle, and everything about them. I have no doubt the knipex ones will cut tougher stuff and last longer, and probably the cls too, but I just like the Doyle. Won’t hear me say that about hf stuff much.
Little late to the party here, but how you keep your tools from rusting.. WD-40 or PB Blaster. Just spray a bit on them or on a rag, make sure to wipe down everything that can rust, make sure to get the lubricant into all of the crevices.. when you've gotten it everywhere wipe it off to where it doesnt really feel oily or slick in your hand anymore. There will be a very thin coat that will protect your tool for a very long time. Months and months if you dont use them too often. Just reapply every once in a while. I'd probably do it every month or so if I handled them daily. I spray all my tools regardless of brand. My tools dont rust unless I do something especially stupid like leave them next to some opened vinegar or something. I bought the Quinn Diagonal Cutters and Long Nose Pliers like 3 years ago and they still look great. Think I've applied WD-40 twice in all that time lol.
@@BradsWorkbench not yet only small stuff 2 but the WEN drill press and bandsaw are still on my wish list😎😀😍😎 I think you might have a hoarding problem with the square, but the Kinnex looking really nice!! I've seen the 1,2,3 blocks a few times, they are COOL !!! Are they expensive? So many Dreams, so little funding. I was NOT ready to be forced to retire early. I'm hoping to talk to a surgeon soon to see if he will do my surgery(hip) even though I'm above the BMI level and I can lose weight after when I can move better. Pray for me Brad, I need all the help I can get. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos my Friend 6 Rodney
One step at a time bud. Keep an eye out for the used tools. You have to be patient but u can find some amazing deals out there. I’ve funded probably 80% of my tools/projects by flipping tools. I may do a video on it one day
I just got the Doyle multipliers (multiple electricians pliers) and are great pliers for the money spent plus are good for what they are as well. They are worth the money spent( to me ).
Great video thanks brother. I think you have hit the nail on the head. Get the tool truck tools you have the money. The problem is will you still have the tools if you can't make that payment anymore. That is one reason I have a viriaty of tools. I have the Snap on and Mac tools I also have Crescent and other brands even Pittsburgh. I have been getting OEM TOOLS lately paying for them in full. I thought ahead at the what if and never thought I would have to retire early. The best part my last payment was 13 dollars to Snap on. Harbor fraight is stepping up there game because they have listened to everyone over the years. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
I got the big Doyle pliers, been getting my moneys worth out of them. I have the Doyle side cutters too, just to keep in my snaring kit. I haven't checked on them in months....🤔
NICE Video. I like your opener too, nice touch. I have some of the Doyle pliers and love them, but mine don't see the kind of work that yours have. It's nice to see how they are holding up. I don't have Quinn pliers at all, but if I needed another set for something I'd consider them based on your vid.
Thanks for the 1 year update. I like my Quinn side cutters and long nose pliers, I've had them for about 6 months, I keep them stuck to a bar magnet in my garage. My garage tends to get damp, so I spray WD-40 on the pliers that I keep in the garage which helps keep the rust down. And the nice thing is, you can use a 20% or 25% coupon on Doyle & Quinn stuff at HF.
Are you taking about the rust in the pliers it the rust in your fingers lol, I really like the reviews after the tools are used for some time, I have the Doyle set of pliers, to use every day on the auto shop, and had them for 2 years now
I got a pair of the Quinn dykes that after using for a day decided to throw back in the toolbox. Any of the other pliers I had cut better than them. I got a pair of the 460 equivalent Doyle channel locks though and they work fine as a second pair for running RMC and doing compression couplings. I really like Knipex cobras but its hard to justify buying a second set for each size.
I bought the Doyle Chanel lock because I was in a pinch and hf store was next door. . After 3 They have rusted and Crome is chipping. They don’t grip as well as Chanel lock. I have since replaced them with us made Chanel locks. I also have snap on 8 inch pliers, diagonal cutters, and needle nose. The snap on is insanely expensive but to me they are well worth the price. Another thing to consider is long term cost. The SO pliers cost $55 but even after 10 years, I can easily and quickly sell them for $20. After just a few months the Doyle are worth about eight cents per pound at scrap yard. Even after using Chanel lock needle nose, I was blown away by how much better the Snap on was in grip at tip and they just don’t twist on a side load. I’ve been in the same place financially that you have been in and it’s no fun and a lot of work but do the American thing and pull yourself back up. In last 15 years, financially: I’ve been very well of and I’ve been bankrupt broke. I much prefer being well off. Good luck brother
I'm actually doing quite well but yes I have been in bad spots in life and won't let myself forget it. Keeps a person humble to remember where you started imo. Didnt snap on just rebrand channellocks? I'm not positive but thought i heard that somewhere
@@BradsWorkbench no. The snap on has a vert different tooth design that opposes one another. They grip in both directions. I assume they have a strong pattent or everyone would of copied the design. Machine work on the snap on is buttery smooth and the grips arw typical snap on. Of course, so is the price.
By the way, harbor freight is an AMERICAN company with thousands of AMERICAN employees I helped support by buying these chinese and Taiwanese pliers. But i'm sure you understood that

Lmao! That’s awesome
A review from someone who actually uses the tools. A+ !
Big reason I started my channel 👍
Uses the tools and isn't a cgi bear
A true real life review! Love these types of videos!
Thanks, I definitely try not to review a product until I’ve used it at least a few weeks. Appreciate you swing by 👍🏼

Fully agree on the Doyle side cutters, I’ve abused the hell out of them but they keep on keeping on
Definitely 👍🏼

Def a good technique. Ive also have good luck with paste wax and keeping silica packets in my bags or toolbox drawers
Great video man. Glad to hear your happy with them. Good seeing these after some time in use.
Yea I’d say they’d be perfect for an avid DIYer or good beaters for the professional. Except the Doyle dykes, I absolutely LOVE those
@@BradsWorkbench very nice. That's great to hear!!!
They look like snapon and mac after they been used and the grip has some color out of it lol
I liked this a lot! Great job buddy! Awesome review 👍

Sweet update on the quin tools. Cant complain for the amount that you have invested in them.
My thoughts as well. Plus they’ve always gotten the dirtiest jobs as well

Scott Pearson TOOLS &MORE thanks scott. I’m glad others share the same mentality 👍🏼
I always see those Doyle’s fully stocked at HF...
I think it’s like the icon stuff. People just aren’t sure if it’s worth the extra money yet
The HF by me has been out of several of the plier types at different times. Around me they do seem popular. I like the ones I have.
I got Doyle channel locks 12 in for 7$ you just can't beat that!!!
Hell yea! What u think of them?

Michael I take that as a huge compliment. This is why I try my best to throughly use any tools before I recommend them 👍🏼 thanks for swinging thru
Thank you for the "real world use" review.
Good review Brad!!!
Thanks
Good post Brad
Thanks bud
Nice review Brad! Also nice that it's a time-tested review. Don't see many of these. God bless and take care! 😁
Appreciate that Dave. Thanks for swinging through

It’ll change ur life 😝

Yea, the environment I work in is very acidic as well. I’ve seen some of the really bad site rust stainless steel after only a few weeks
I've beat the hell out of mine, I love my Quinns the steel is pretty nice and hard, I've cut multiple different chains with mine.
Not bad for the price

Lol i try not to give my opinion on any tool until i've used it a few months. They are all still holding up fine too
Nice to see a review after it’s been put to use #TSBOC
I appreciate that
Are your pair of Doyle tongue and groove pliers made in Taiwan? I bought a pair recently and it was made in China
Mi Dori i think the t&g were made in China but the others were Taiwan but I’m not 100% sure. Might say in the videos when I first got them

I probably wouldn't buy them but I do appreciate the long term review.
To each their own 👍🏼
Put some 3 in 1 oil on them keeps them rust free
Yea its a catch 22 because i also dont want my bag i carry to get all oily but i do use wd40 sometimes
Brad, it's all your fault man.
Always
I have extra long needle nose pliers without flex!
Bullshit 😝 send them over to me
