Hi i am mac from korea nice to meet you actually i make ocarinas. So let me show u some. U r so talented best video thanks a lot new friend have a good time lets stay connected I appreciate it again
Sounds much, much better :) Actually, now that I've watched it all the way through, I'd really appreciate your advice on something. I've been using the Dragon's Tooth as my only Ocarina up till now, and while I love it, I do feel its.....idk, I felt it was harder to get to sound right, if that makes sense. Considering that's the Ocarina I started with, I'd like my second to be one that has a good tone, both indoors and out, but that's also slightly "easier" (again if that makes sense!) to play. Are their any in particular you'd recommend?
I have the 12 holes ocarinas but it’s really needs some fine tuning for this instrument because I can’t play it anymore and it’s getting too old and rusty now
I just got this in the mail actually from a friend, and while I'm terrible at playing it, I already love the tone it carries. Hopefully I can learn it in not TOO long. Clearly I know I won't be some master or anything, but at least some general understanding of what I'm doing would be nice. lol
Thank you for this video you have steered me to the Odomi and the Noble Black Alto's. Both are on their way to me. I dont want a Ceramic Ocarina, as I like the idea of indestructible, and easy to clean. I have a LOT of Recorders, I have been looking at the Ocarina, as a More Compact, and One Piece instrument, as a travel Instrument. May have to get a Noble Bass next. or if they offer a Tenor size Option.
Is there a difference between the $26.95 version they offer and the $22.95 version? It looks as though yours was the $22.95 version from the spacing of the holes and the finger grooves where the holes are ($26.95 version doesn't have these grooves)
I bought an OoT replica once and regretted it ever since. I always buy from Focalink (if our financial situation was better, I'd like to try one of Mountain Ocarinas' instruments), and I'd love to get my hands on a Mapram ocarina. However I heard Ocarina Wind wasn't a well trusted brand, though I've never played any of theirs. I wouldn't buy a OoT replica at all- even if they are high quality, they're usually way too expensive, just because of the design.
I know I'm late by two years to reply, but if you do want one, I recommend stlocarina.com they have great quality, especially when compared to ocarinawind and other companies like that. some of them can be a little pricey, but you can find one with nice quality down in the $45 - $60 range
Honestly the focalink aren’t that bad. It was my first and I still like to use it from time to time. My favorite I have is the dragon tooth from songbird
Hi, i bought my ocarina from the ocarinawind page and it didn't came with the "OW" logo, and it sounds pretty similar to the "ocarina of crap" rather than the other one. :/
I checked out Ocarina Wind website and amazon shop and got really confused, they sell same ocarinas (like same color and pictures) but some have the lable and some don't. I don't know how to choose one. I really want ceramic ocarina (12 hole AC) which will sound good (and on the high notes, I know I'm asking for too much) but under 30GBR, maybe up to 40... all websites have high delivery costs to UK as well, so I'm looking at Amazon. not sure what to do :c I think I will end up with plastic noble one, but want ceramic badly :C
hi, what are the differences between this kind of ocarina and the original Budrio's (apart from the number of holes and pitch of course). I mean, what is the difference in the sound?
I ordered a "rythm of the earth" model couple days ago on Amazon claiming to be made by OcarinaWind(I saw the same model on the website). I hope it will have the proper quality. How can I check whether it is in-tune if I'm tone-deaf though? Not sure about that bit, the one I have right now sounds windy like hell.
The OcarinaWind ocs tend to be a bit better than complete no-brand ones. However, like with any company, quality control is not perfect and some models may have issues. I would recommend joining at The Ocarina Network Facebook group, maybe share some images or videos to describe your issues. We can help you there :)
Honestly I'm not impressed with the branded one, it might be better but I'd say they are made in the same factory, it isn't uncommon for makers to sort for quality and a buyer can spend a bit more for the better quality bin.
I can't help you with amazon, but stlocarina.com is where I usually get my ocarinas they have amazing quality. wait, you said under $25? nvm, these are around 45, sorry to waste your time
I bought this Ocarina from OcarinaWind via Amazon, but there wasn't their logo on this Ocarina and it also missed a hole... the little one on the right hand side over your middlefinger :/ is it even the same company?
Hey dude! nice vid, I was looking to buy a Night by Noble ocarina and noticed that the most ones you can buy on Amazon and ebay has the two subholes separated (one on each side) but your's has them on the same side? I tried to find Noble's website but I couldn't, and I was hoping you could help me out so I won't get scammed. Which is the real one?
Hi, there is no scam or fake Noble plastic ocarinas so far. Difference in subhole placement is just a minor difference for different markets. Two subholes on same side is preferred in Japanese market, one subhole each hand is preferred in the Korean, Taiwanese and Western market version. More or less, they are the same ocarina. Mine just says "Noble" and not "Night", but its all the same thing made by the same company. Noble makes the ocarinas - they did a collaboration with "Night" which is a Japanese company
I have never played the STL single chamber OOT but I have seen posts on TON from people who have the single chamber OOT. They said they had trouble covering the subholes at first because the body of the ocarina is very rounded. When they would slide their finger tips forward to cover the subholes, they couldn't get a good seal. This problem tends to resolve with more practice.
+Edwin Gonzalez If you want the cheapest ceramic ocarina that is acceptably playable, then it's not bad for its price. There are much better ocarinas out there of course (eg: Focaink, Songbird), but they also cost more.
@@kissing88 Gotta wonder what sites sell good ones cause most of the ones i see look like cheap plastic or ceramic and personally i want something thats gonna last years even if dropped. Its like a cast iron pan man i wanna be able to take this out camping or surviving im gonna need some entertainment that aint gonna break lol
@@joepoelmans5910 - If you want something durable, you will have to stick to plastic or wooden ocarinas. Ceramic ocarinas are the most common, but they are fragile. Some good plastic and wooden ocarinas are: Night by Noble, Focalink (also sold on Songbird website), Coda EDC flute and Hind ocarinas
@@kissing88 I should clarify durable and doesnt sound like a 3 year old got his first toy harmonica basically which d expext from a plastic or ceramic one from the vibrations allowed
For a decent double ocarina, you may have to get a ceramic one and be careful not to drop it. There are some good ones made by Focalink, Songbird, Noble, Spencer, ICO and Luna Celta. Hind occasionally makes a wooden double, but it is quite expensive. Also look into Coda EDC flute. Its a bit different from normal ocarinas, but it could be what you are looking for :)
I'm so glad I watched this video!! I've been looking everywhere as to why my ocarina sounded like crud, and I didn't know the ocarina I had was a cheepo crapo version >.
+kissing88 XD haha i guess it's been 2 months since i last saw this, but actually I bought myself an ocarina within that time period :p. I got one that costed me about $100 from steinocarina, but I'm pretty happy with my purchase :) it sounds great and it's so beyond better than the faulty zelda duplicate one that was a hunk of junk. thanks for the reply though XD!
+GAMER_BOY_LOLZ 5981 I just ordered one i will let you know later if it is a scam or not Btw. i have prove i bought it from multiple screenshots i made of it so yeah again ill let you know if it is a scam or not i ordered via china post so it can take a while lets say max 8 weeks sorry for my bad english i live in the netherlands :p
+GAMER_BOY_LOLZ 5981 Soo yeah i just got it today but i dont know if it is just me or anything but the high notes just sound like a dog whistle the ocarina feels nice and al but yeah overall its pretty good
+GAMER_BOY_LOLZ 5981 - They're not a scam. Their ocarinas aren't the best, but for something that cheap, they're better than some worse knock-offs out there at the same price.
ok, can I just say that you don't know how to play the "Ocarina of crap"? you played it like it was a different key than it is. when your right hand is only holding thumb and your left hand is holding index finger, little finger, and thumb, you are not playing the right note in the scale. you can fix this by also holding your ring finger on your right hand when playing that note. and before you ask, no I don't play the "Ocarina of crap." I do, however, play 17 other kinds of ocarinas, and have started playing them 11 years ago. I have played many types and styles of ocarinas, and I see one of the most common mistakes in that video: assuming all ocarinas are in the same key. I will say, however, that the main point you tried to prove is true. The "Ocarina of crap" does have low quality.
I will mention though that if you are looking for quality sound, I recommend stlocarina.com They have some nice quality ocarinas. especially the ones from the "professional" section
