I got the AC. Seems tuned fairly well.
I usually wouldn’t choose this instrument as my first choose as a percussionist but as soon I heard this Instrument I fell in love. I mainly play glockenspiels, kalimbas, and drums, also keyboard to a degree 😅, hopefully once I get the instrument I’ll get the hang of it
It's nice to see somebody actually not recommending plastic ones for beginners. I don't have the best musical ear, but even I could tell that ceramic ones sound a lot better. I have an ocarina on it's way from Songbird (Dragon's Tooth). A friend has one and it sounds amazing. They also indicated it would be a good one for me since I have large hands. Not the cheapest, but less than I paid for my computer keyboard and I won't have to upgrade as I learn and get better at it.
I'm getting one I love how flute like they sound, I play the tin whistle but I'm looking to play with this one too for fun ...

I wish I would've seen this video before my first (and only so far) ocarina purchase. Ha ha. I ended up getting an Ocarina Wind Sweet Potato and honestly... it seems like I made a pretty good choice. I did a little research and found out the Zelda-themed ones tend to be out of tune so good to hear your experience has been the same. You're 100% right with your assessment of the Aklot. I too thought some of the high notes sounded questionable. It's not that way on the Ocarina Wind which appears to track much better. Additionally, I've heard nothing but good feedback about STL Ocarina (I believe you introduced me to them in one of your vids), so if I was to get another, I'd probably go there. Thanks for the rundown and sharing your experiences. It's always good to hear people's "hands on" impressions of different brands. Holy cow this was a long comment. I guess that means I liked the video.
Ha, glad you liked it! Yep, if the difference between $20 and $50 doesn't mean a lot to you, I think STL has some of the best options! The Ocarina Wind seem really nice though, I'm glad you like yours 😊
Thank you for making this video! My father gave me the ocarina of time about three years ago because we are both Zelda fans. At the time I wasn't as interested in music as I am now. I play a few instruments now like, piano, guitar, ukulele, and recorder. I finally decided to get the ocarina out and started learning more about and after a bite I felt like it was out of tune. after seeing videos about ocarinas, it doesn't sound the same as the others. I'm glad I found these types of videos so I know I'm not crazy. :')
How exciting that you're learning a new instrument! The ocarina can be so tricky to play in tune, especially if it's not well tuned to begin with. Keep trying and it will get better for sure 😊

I’m so sad that I really didn’t come across this video sooner before viewing recommendations. I was so excited to learn the ocarina and play it for this one girl, but I became disappointed upon hearing the sound of the HuHu Ocarina sold on Amazon. Definitely returning and getting a refund to buy the songbirds. Thank you, Miss!
I'm mainly a guitarist so it's kinda strange to approach an instrument that will be permanently in or out of tune lol

La del mar es fluida (por la manera de sus dedos) logra fluidez..

What's the difference between a wooden and a ceramic one? Does the wooden one requiere special care? Or what's the difference as far as sound is concerned? I've been watching/listening videos of ppl playing both and and can't hear a defining difference

this is an old video so commenting probably does not matter HOWEVER an ocarina that you did not mention is the osawa soprano c
specifically soprano because it's 25 dollars while the alto is 35. they both sound wonderful eventhough they are plastic and cheap.
I've seen the Osawa but haven't tried one yet! I'm honestly not a huge fan of soprano ocarinas, the sound is a little too high for me, but they are usually less expensive which is nice 😊

I do have a small wooden one that I like! I would love to get a larger one someday but they are quite a bit more expensive than clay ocarinas for a nice one.

Oh yes! If you can read music, the most challenging part of ocarina is learning to blow the notes in tune. And you'll have a leg up there as well from playing flute 😊

I just got a Night By Noble Plastic Ocarina. It sounds normal I guess but I just can’t grasp the high notes.
The high notes are tricky on it! They definitely sound a bit airy. I'm sure you will get better with practice 😊
I have the "mountain echo" ocarina from ocarina wind and was wondering if it is actually really good and I'm not playing it properly or if it's bad and out if tune
I haven't tried that one! My ocarina from them is fantastic, but I can't speak for all of them

My first ocarina was an OcarinaWind and it's horrible and out of tune. It's the white one with a crackle finish (forgot the exact name) so definitely not all of them are equal.
