Hi
This car came to me due to the radiator fan not working.
A few checks and tests, revealed that the fan was operational, but for some reason the ECU was reporting open circuits on speed 1, and speed 2.
At start, it was looking like it would be an easy fix, but never is...
Follow me on this video, to find out what the problem was, and how to resolve it.

Quick tip for you. When the scanner says to turn off engine and ignition back on, don't turn the key all the way off because you will lose communication with the scan tool just like you did. Turn the key back one position which will turn off the engine but still keep the ignition feed to the OBD port open, so your scanner doesn't lose communiction with OBD port.
Terminal 30 is always present on OBD regardless of ignition position, Engine ECU will lose T15 once key turned back even to accessory position so will make no difference.

I think that's what's been happening with my programmer I have a lansdor k518s
Not many people would clear out the leaves. Water should drain away better than getting blocked up.
The ECU should have been sealed to be water tight and located in a better place.
I thought the ceramic resistor was very expensive and poorly made. Similar resistors in old radios last decades...the mains droppers.
Quite a repair job on the tracks...another great fix.
Thanks!👍👍👍

Anyone who's been around cars knows that heater plenum is going to flood sooner or later. What were the Vauxhall designers thinking of. Great video I always appreciate how you overcome the circuit problems inside the control units & share your skill. Thank you.
A very poor design indeed...
Specially with all the space around to place the ECU...🤦♂️

Wow, great repair! Few people would have resurrected that ecu.
You spoke what I was thinking when you opened it: it's a miracle that the car was still running!

Excellent in depth video. Just put deposit down on Corsa D 1.3 Cdti, then saw this video 2 days later. When car is mine, will check for water damage around ECU Asap! Didn't test drive or check controls, but the man fired up engine. After 3 seconds of hunting, engine sounded good and smooth. (Was low on fuel). Man has put on new glow plugs, new fuel filter, new back box, 2 new tyres and car will be MOT'd within a few days. ECU must be good or he would not be doing all that to a car with a bad ECU. Plus, he is a mechanic by trade. Fingers crossed!
Good luck...

It's very easy to do a diagnos if you have an electric diagram
When you remove the rele you can test if you have power=12v on nr 30 or nr 87.
If you haven't power then the problem can be a blown fuse

I'm impressed you were able to repair that ECU. Given how damaged it was I'm not sure how long it will last. Opel/Vauxhall really are the bottom of the barrel for design and build quality along with Fiat. They always have terrible electrical problems. Most often due to water.
Hi
If gets no water again, should last...
Indeed this is a awkward design...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
they have all those electrical issues beacuse they use italian parts now.. look its a magnetti marelli ecu....and on this case poor placement of the ecu helped...old opels used mainly bosch parts and they were indestructible....i sell used car parts and i never ever sell pre-year 2000 opel electrical parts...i have boxes and boxes of ecus , shelves full of window regulators etc... up until corsa b astra f and vectra B it was all built to last 500000 km... even mechanical parts...the original 1997 rubber cv joint boots are starting now to fail at 600000km on my combo B. never put suspension arms either..only track rod ends once

Louis, Hi, The resistor or diode across the coil in a relay is purely a snubber or buffer to protect the delicate ecu electronics from the back emf voltage spike when ecu switches it off. The ecu will monitor the battery voltage coming through the actual coil in the relay when the ecu is switching it off IE an open circuit ground. If ecu doesn't see battery voltage then it flags a circuit code..... I think. That's most probably why ecu's switch ground
Hi Steve!
You are probably correct...
I never researched it that deep to find out exactly... makes sense what you say thought...

interesting problem, I am wondering if clearing the drain is part of the normal service, if not it should be, or a driver check throughout the winter, it's easier and cheaper than fixing the ECU etc. good video thank you.
I have done it on mine... and definitely advise to corsa owners to at least once a year check and clean them...
I doubt that is part of the service, but not sure...

@@LMAutoRepairs It's always good to learn from the experience of others, those who go before us do us a great service. In this case the manufacturer knows the drain will block .. so why put the ECU in the drain.

Good question...
🤷♂️
This is a very common and well known issue on these, done many and on petrols they suffer from heat and vibration on most engine models due to placement on engine block. If you go to shop manager and then vehicle history you will not have to keep inputting vin ect to scanner.
Yes... this is a common issue...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
ECU's not on engine block on this model, it's in the skuttle under wipers
Yes I know where it is obviously as I have done many if you read what I said again "and on petrols they suffer from heat and vibration" this is a Diesel and that is why I made a point of saying and on petrols! thanks
Yeh missed that bit, Some diesels doo have them on the engine as well
only 1.7 DI with isuzu block has that, 1.3 cdti never had it on engine block, I think the latest Corsa may have though
fantastic work you are very confident man hats off to you sir,.

nice video, dude 👍👍👍 and very useful. I have the same issue (corsa D 2012, 1.7 CDTI, A17DTS engine code) - same warning on board but on my car it indicates 2 lambda probe faults, I changed the lambda probe with a new one, also verified the circuit connections, everything looks fine, most most likely I have the same problem...😢😢 I'm gonna open it to see wth is going on there down 🧐🧐. Thanks again
Hope you find the problem!
Thank for watching and for your comment!
Most likely ECU fault with my father's Corsa D too, it's a 1.3 diesel and sometimes it runs on three cylinders and sometimes don't. So I'm suspecting same kind of corrosion on the ECU of it instead of something mechanical, as mechanical problems usually are always there, not random.

my 2005 Zafira_A has exactly this problem..speed 3 only works..wiring is ok ..fuse is ok ..the 3 relays are ok ...jumped the fan from relay 3 and it comes on but doesn't come on when I use a clip to jump relay 1 & 2 ...all wiring checks out completely ok ...not an electrician ...but also changed the fans and still no difference...beginning to think it's the ecu ...and my can only came equipped with on cooling fan ...no condenser fan ...and car doesn't over heat ...but fan doesn't come on when ac is on...only comes on when engine temp reaches requirements (220 F) ....any advice please
fantastic video by the way....every detail was looked at....
What happens when you actuate the fan on the speed that does not work?
Do you have signal at the ecu plug?
If not, then I agree that it is probably the ecu...

Very good video, did you ever have a fault P0458 and if yes what to look for. I just cant unterstand why it says low voltage.
That could be just a poor code description...
Check the circuit from the valve to the ecu, load test the circuit, and check that the ecu is commanding the valve... if all good, it is probably a bad valve...

@@LMAutoRepairs Hey, thanks for the reply.
In another video of yours, I saw that you remove the eeprom module and reinstalled it in the used ECU. Isn't that a necessary step? And what's the use of doing it? Sorry for the many questions, but your help is also useful for those who are not experts like me. Thanks again!
@@trishapnk
If you move the eeprom from the damaged ecu into the replacement one, no programming is required...

No... once the immo programmed the car would start...

good morning, great video. My corsa (2007 1.4) started having a/c issues (it would stop cooling randomly), then I noticed the cooling fan started to act, and eventually, the engine management light came on. I took the car to the shop, they say me there is a problem with the ECU and they have to send it to a specialized company to refurbish it. 400 quid. What do you think, does it sound legit to you? Thanks.
You can get an used ecu for way less...
That said, the first thing that comes to my head, is what tests they did to conclude that the ecu is faulty...🤔
It is possible, as those Corsa have the ecu attached to the intake, being subjected to all the engine vibrations...

Wow! Good work! Nice video.
I just made the same discovery, changed a really bad resistor but still no spinning fan! However, I don't get any fault codes. If I bridge the relays, the fan works. But i only get 1 V to the relays when I measure to ground. I will treat to ground the ecu-connector later, I suspect the ECU. But the 1 V to relays confuses me! Suggestions?
Go over the pcb again... you might have missed something...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
@@LMAutoRepairs Thank you fpr your reply.
I went out to the car again and this time I've got 12 V. Must have been sleeping last time. I followed your instructions and grounded pin 7, 8 and 29 in the connector to the ECU, just like you did, and the fan spun.
I removed the ECU for the second time this year, but it was all fine! No broken connections.
So, I have a working fan, a ECU that looks fine and a temp sensor they gets 5 V and goes from 2,1 ohms to 0,8 ohms in hot water. I would be so grateful if you had any suggestion? Can I test the ECU somehow, beside testing the continuity on connectors?

What do you think what could it be
Codes?

If I turn off each cylinder it responds fine, last week it drove fine for 3 weeks fuel went on reserve and as soon as I filled it up I started it , it started same thing, before they fuel Fill up I drive fine, I know it’s to with fuel or air suction even tried genuine suction valve, I noticed one thing if you remove fuel cap it was blowing air like petrol car. It’s done it for few weeks but now it doesn’t do that , I don’t know if it’s electric or mechanical issue

Hello. It is possible to repair fault code P060B Replace ECU?
After repair it's the only fault code.
You can try to flash the ecu, in case is a corrupt software... other than that, impossible to say without checking...
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs I will try and report!
@@LMAutoRepairs Hello.
I made a reading with Kess2 from a good ECU by OBD.
After i wrote the good bin file to the ECU with P060B.Nothing.Still the same error.
@@nicoskazantzis
Could be a bad ecu...
Those ecus have a multilayer PCB...
Again, difficult to say without looking...
Thank you amsvarr

my friend , can you google uActivate from aeswave , it is a very good tool for testing and activating relays, I think it would help you handle relays faster
Are you a seller? Lol
I will have a look...
Thanks!
@@LMAutoRepairs LOL no but I see you spend some time on relays and fuel pumps :)

Hi mate I got the same board similar problems if I get another board from another car but I not got key or anything if I use chips from my old was working before water damage and put on donor board which chips do I need to make it work thanks.
Hi
Yes... move the eprom... and should work...
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs great stuff mate so only the eprom is different from the board from to make it unique from any other board or a salvage board.
@@tjautos
If the ecu is the same hardware part number, yes...
All the info is on the eprom... only the injector codes(in case of being a diesel...)can be stored in the flash... but you can easily check that and change afterwards...
Great stuff can reprogram the injector codes in after on opcom I get a read on opcom with bad board one code is replace ECU so if I get a same code board and swap my eprom do I need to anything else
@@tjautos
As I have explained... no...
The only thing is the injector codes... but you can check that with opcom...
thank you for you✋✋✋✋✋

Hello, Can you share please this diagrama of marelli 6x3?
I don't have any diagrams...
I wish I would...😊
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs Very strange, you record with diagram, see at time 30:02 of this video
That's not the diagram of the ecu...
Is the car wiring diagram...
You can find them with google help...
What a stupid place for the ecu, I can see that becoming a joke for vaxhaull
Agree!
Thank you for watching!
Even some old Volkswagens have the ECU placed in a similar spot... Like the Polo 6N and the golf mk4... With all the space in the engine bay 🤣
