Fair enough! The white worked just fine for me and it was what I had at home, but gray would work just as well.

Thanks Starr! The exterior of the door is a different color - more of a charcoal. They’re both dark so it you can see any imperfections.

pro tip.....paint the molding BEFORE you put it on the wall

We’ve done that for other projects like our kitchen cabinet molding and it works great! But given how much wood putty and caulk needed to be added after installation, it really wouldn’t have saved us any time here.
