It's all about money. Here in quebec, we have Raphael Lessard (2020 talladega truck race winner), who has won in all series he races... but no money, he's stuck to local track. Same for Alex Labbé, a pretty good driver stuck without money. So he race with poor team and can't afford a complete season with a top car.
I've always wanted to race anything and did my whole life, now I don't drive like that on the highway anymore, but I'd love to drive a Nascar. And absolutely in front of scouts.
I'm trying my best to afford a late model stock to go racing in the next few years. Sadly I'd be 25 by then. Still gonna practice like crazy on iracing until then. Hopefully I can make a name for myself and if not I'm glad I tried!
Be honest with people, it's all about the Benjamins. Talent and passion won't get the job done these days. If you got the money orca big sponsor your in
While youre 100% right about the Benjis in NASCAR series specific, it does take a little talent to get those big sponsors if you dont come from money. Stewart Friesen for example. Now he wont be a cup or xfinity driver, but he built up a solid base with sponsors in the North East racing dirt modifieds (ive watched him my whole life). Now, hes in a position to go Truck racing with his current sponsors that hes aquired, one being Ferris Mowers that he landed this or last year. Im bringing that particular sponsor up cause 1) its newer for him 2) they sponsor a cup car as well
It used to be skill based, now its just how much money you or your family has and skill has now become secondary
Skill comes last. Just look at Herbst
That’s mostly F1
What about a guy who doesn’t do any racing but did do 4 wheeling stuff and wants a shot in the trucks then Xfinity then cup
Its all about the money, clearly driving skills are secondary in nascar now.
thank you I race bmx and hope to start go carting
The “pattern of winning” is hardly as important as the pattern of commas & zeros

I ain't a kart racer but I can slam gears in my friends car he drives his other and we race around his farm and he's never beat me lol

Determination and practice and of course money. But hang in there and keep working at it. I hope to see your name on the line up someday!!
