I did a few of his kettlebell videos with dumbbells before, and it can work for the most part. I haven't gone through this video yet so I don't know if these kinds of exercises are in it, but some exercises it's too hard to reach - - Like if you have to switch hands with a dumbbell behind your back or under your leg so I would just make up my own exercise. I eventually bought a set of kettlebells.
