@@KEYSERSOZE1965 I sure had the pleasure in 2007 to see those 2 preform together in a live stage performance I'm so glad I saw them esp before Harvey passed away and seeing Tim in reruns of the carol burnett show and on newer shows the talents they both had are not replaceable and cant be redone again I'm so glad I had the time to see them perform god bless them both
Seeing Carol absolutely speechless shows that this was not a set up. She had no idea and what a way to end the show, bringing on the one person she adored the most and always wanted to have on.From one legend to another showing nothing but respect and unconditional LOVE. Love them both, True screen legends.
Jimmy Stewart 🌟 Gentleman. Great Actor. Great Man. Great Father. Great American. War Hero. The epitome of Class & Grace. They simply don't make them like him anymore. ❤️
I wish I was on her show. But come to think about it. I was. At home singing her songs. When she sings her great profound songs.lol. next to Lucy she is the greatest sexy of away woman ..
Oh my God, Carol's reaction to seeing Jimmy at the piano was priceless! I seriously started crying seeing her cry and listening to Jimmy thanking her for entertaining so many people with her show.
I am so glad I grew up in this era. When comedy was clean, tasteful, honest, sincere and unscripted. When people could let the kids watch TV without fear of what they'd have to explain later. This was REAL COMEDY.
You forget that edgy innuendo comedy has always been around going all the way back to vaudeville to Groucho Marx to Abbott and Costello and more. I don’t care when it is blatant, but when you are able to do it rather slyly tan I respect it.
when my now 25 year old son was a baby, I wrote a fan letter to Mr. Stewart. He wrote back and was the most amazing, kind, thoughtful person. I love you, James Stewart. May God bless you!
Ah, Jimmy Stewart....here was a real actor, a real talent, a real gentleman and wonderful man. RIP Jimmy, you are still one of my most beloved actors. I want to go back and live in these wonderful years when entertainment was quality and times were better, in spite of their flaws. Plus you have to love Carol's reaction when she sees who it is sitting at that piano. Tim really got one over on her with bringing Jimmy on the show.
I know exactly how she feels - I have been in love with Jimmy Stewart since I was a young girl... I have an autographed picture of him that he personally signed and sent me years ago when I sent him a letter telling him how much I admired and respected him in his work and his family life. He was truly one of a kind and will always hold a special place in my heart...
Australian listening 🎧🎧🎧 and watching.we did not have this show . James Stewart a legend down under as well. Have a large number of his movies and watch regularly. Favourite movie 🎥🎥 Glen Miller story And western The Man Who Shoot Liberty Valance because it also had equal favourite actor John Wayne can't seperate them as best thanks to Carol .
Did ya know that Jim Stewart retired as a Brigadier General from the Air Force in 1968 and that he also flew several missions in a B-52 bomber. Hard to imagine his very long legs finding space in that bomber.
A genuine moment of suprise, repect and love.I watched this episode, the night it aired.I have never forgotten it.A rare and special moment between a fan and her idol. lol Love them both,a time long gone.
This was incredible the way they pulled it off and stunned her like that...Carol Burnett is a legend, and to see her completely come apart at the sight of her idol, the great Jimmy Stewart, is priceless.
I was born in 1958 and our family used to watch Carol every week. One of the best TV shows ever! Looked forward to it b/c you never knew what you were going to see but you knew it was gonna be good and you didn’t want to miss it! I only have 6 words to describe this show “When TV was at its best!” Thank you Carol love you!
This is exactly how I felt meting her last night. I couldn't believe I was able to ask her a question and give her my letter. She's so kind and so caring. I was almost speechless.
You can tell Carol was absolutely stymied by this gesture and the tears were genuine. I felt that same excitement when I saw her speak last night and would have fainted dead away had I had the chance to meet her.
this certinaly wasn't rehearsed this has to be the best surprise for anyone and by far the best final episode to a tv show the best way to end 11 years of memorable moments in making everyone in the audience and themselves laugh
There will Never be another like him he was priceless i love Jimmy Stewart he was a Great Man i loved watching him on the Dean Martin shows and Roasts he always had a good relationship with Dino and said he Loved being on his shows and he was on quite a few shows and roasts a true friendship between them Dean said he was Proud to call him a pal and you can see they were by just watching them together there will Never Ever be anyone to match the Great Jimmy Stewart......
2 tears never saw this . And same birthday so hits home in a certain way if I were to cross paths .we all have somebody like that , at least I hope . God bless .and God speed
I love this clip and have seen it before and am so glad I got the chance to see it again. It was great to see Carol's true affection for Jimmy Stewart. I got teary-eyed watching it!
Earlier in the show, during a discussion with Tim and Vicki, Carol said that her biggest regret was the fact that she had never been able to get Jimmy Stewart on the show as a guest. Tim and the staff set it up, and she had NO idea what they had done,as you can tell from her reaction.
Everytime I see this clip and when they embrace after his performance on the piano, especially hearing her just finally cry as hard as she is, makes me lose it too. She had been probably doing as good as she could to hold her emotions in before they lifted up that wall to reveal Jimmy, but it didn't matter, after all her times and hard work on this show, she deserved to get it all out. God Bless You Carol and Jimmy as well❤️❤️❤️
Seeing Carol the stalwart professional turn into the giddy schoolgirl when her lifetime Crush is near is so sweet and you can,t ever suspect a set up cuz that scream of pure joy and amazement can,t be put on. This makes me love her even more and JIMMY RIP , Look forward to being your friend one day in heaven
Saw Jimmy in person in 1989 when he did a rare signing of his book of poems. The line went from Chicago to Milwaukee, I swear. That book is a prized possession.
I met Carol twenty years ago and my wife just met her last year. We were both flabbergasted and star-struck. Difference is, I gibbered like an idiot and that was about it, and my wife got to spend a whole day with her, mostly one-on-one, hanging out and getting to know each other. D’oh!!
I love jimmy Stewart and I love Carol Burnett and this is just like Christmas and New Year's for me, seeing them together. It;s a lovely bit. Thank you.
I started watching the Carol when I was 5 as her show was winding down. The best part was they sucked you into the skits with them so when they broke character which was often, it added to but never diminished the comedy. Carol wanted you to be part of it and it shows. Harvey Korman and Tim Conway were Carol's pillars. I still catch them if I run into a show in rerun.
You gotta love how Carol is trying to figure just what the heck Tim is telling her. You can literally see her saying to herself, "What the hell, this is not wat we rehearsed, what's going on?"
For those of you too young to remember, Carol's reaction is NOT an act. As I recall the story, she had always been a fan of James Stewart and had tried over the years to get him on the show, but it never worked out. Tim was able to sneak him onto the last show, and Carol literally had no idea until the curtain went up. I watched that show faithfully every week, and I was so disappointed when she announced the show was ending. I was 16 when that finale aired. I still miss it. It's one of those special shows that still holds up 40+ years later (like The Dick Van Dyke Show).
This generation needs this back to educate of real humor
The world sure could use more Jimmy Stewart's and Carol Burnett's
And Tim Conway's and Harvey Korman's
Don Rickles, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and the King of Rock and Roll himself Elvis among many others.
Let’s not forget Johnny Carson

Not with people being raised on screens.
Prople used to entertain THEMSELVES ..
If we fast from post 1980s media, it may happen

She talked about this on The Carson Podcast. You're right, this was a complete surprise! She idolized Jimmy from the time she was a little kid.
Jimmy Stewart 🌟 Gentleman. Great Actor. Great Man. Great Father. Great American. War Hero. The epitome of Class & Grace. They simply don't make them like him anymore. ❤️
I concur.
Carol, the way you feel about Jimmy is exactly the way we feel about you!
Lynn Turman true that
Who else keeps replaying that scream of joy when she first sees him? Aweeee it makes me cry! 😭
Me too
GinnieKinz💜 I do! And me too. 😭
Me too
Me! Pure joy!
I wish I was on her show. But come to think about it. I was. At home singing her songs. When she sings her great profound songs.lol. next to Lucy she is the greatest sexy of away woman ..

This wasnt rehearsed u just cant rehearse a special moment like this just simply amazing
Me too. I keep replaying. Crying. When times were special. 💔
You could tell she knew Tim Conway was up to something, but couldn’t figure out what…her reaction to Mr. Stewart was priceless…what a present
You can't fake that type of emotion and respect for each other they had. Two true entertainment giants.
Carol has just turned 90. Happy birthday with many more birthdays to come.

And real acting
I remember watching this live as a kid. This was definitely a landmark moment in television history.
*Jimmy Stewart was the type of Gentleman, Actor and American that is extinct today. He and Carol are absolute Legends. ❤️*

Jimmy is the sweetest thing on this earth. I wish I lived in his era 😭💕
same, the time when in films, the acting was taken so much more seriously back then. Today its mainly about stunts, fighting, explosions and cgi
I was blessed to correspond with Jimmy Stewart 3 times throughout his life.
That guy you saw on TV? That was Jimmy Stewart. I miss him
Did ya know that Jim Stewart retired as a Brigadier General from the Air Force in 1968 and that he also flew several missions in a B-52 bomber. Hard to imagine his very long legs finding space in that bomber.

Todd Christopher It's something that you never really think of, that even big stars have their own idols.
I love them all❤ God bless them.😊
She never took her eyes off of him. What admiration ❤
that reaction says everything you need to ever know about Carol Burnett and how she truly loved Jimmy Stewart.
I don't know anyone who didn't watch Carol Burnett every week.
She had great people and even the people in the audience were fun.
This is so sweet!
He was a wonderful actor, RIP to Jimmy Stewart, Carol Burnett show was great and funny clean comedy. They have NO shows like that anymore.
This was incredible the way they pulled it off and stunned her like that...Carol Burnett is a legend, and to see her completely come apart at the sight of her idol, the great Jimmy Stewart, is priceless.
This is why I had my cable tv shut off. Because there are NO great shows on like this anymore.
Me too no cable
The most joyful scream ever!!
For sure.
Carol burnett has the best sounding screams of allllllll emotions lol

Jimmy Stewart: pure class
People nowadays will never know this happiness and genuine affection unless they stop being so serious and negative
Was I the only one who was crying when she cried???!!
R.I.P To A Great Actor James Stewart, Still Miss You Always 😢😢😢
You can tell Carol was absolutely stymied by this gesture and the tears were genuine. I felt that same excitement when I saw her speak last night and would have fainted dead away had I had the chance to meet her.
Now THIS is reality television!
this certinaly wasn't rehearsed this has to be the best surprise for anyone and by far the best final episode to a tv show the best way to end 11 years of memorable moments in making everyone in the audience and themselves laugh
Now that is how you treat a legend 😅 you emotionally cry on their shoulder and tell them they are the world ahah bless her
I still cry everytime. I hear him say,
Now,now,now Carol.
2021 still a hit today.
I remember this and have looked for it since it first aired.
That's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. I can't thank you enough for sharing it.
awwww she was crying!!!! :))) i love this clip thanks sooo much for posting it!!
Thanks "General Stewart" for the many years of memories and your service to the country in WWII.
Perfection
I love James Stewart!!
Oh I miss Jimmy Stewart!!
Pure love. Legend to legend.
I can't watch that reveal without a huge smile spreading across my face, hearing Carol's ecstatic scream. :)
I'm not crying. You are.
Carol is too precious!! There is no show that is on the air today that will ever be good enough for her sophisticated talent.
Beautiful!
What a wonderful surpise for Carol Burnett and Jimmy Stewart were the greatest. Thanks for posting.

which makes it that much MORE heartwarming.
Would have been fun to see him in some skits.
The perfect reaction when in the presence of Mr Stewart.
These times are long time gone. The world has been ruined by Internet, social media etc.
At least we can enjoy the memories like these on UA-cam ;)
When I’m feeling low I watch this. Because it’s pure joy.

Truly amazing surprise for carol burnett
Jimmy is my favorite actor and has been for many years. Thank you for sharing
There will never be another Carol Burnett Show. Timeless...
He’s always been her hero.
I have loved him way back when I was a child and I love her!! I would have been a bubbling mess!

I can't stop crying. Oh Jimmy, I miss you so much.
Awesome 👏 ! Her favorite actor!
I am SOOOOO in love with Jimmy Stewart! This is one of those perfect moments on television.
WILL WATCH ALWAYS, EVERYONE OF THEM BEAUTIFUL 😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉
The most special moment for Carol was this moment with her idol Jimmy Stewart.
I met Carol twenty years ago and my wife just met her last year. We were both flabbergasted and star-struck. Difference is, I gibbered like an idiot and that was about it, and my wife got to spend a whole day with her, mostly one-on-one, hanging out and getting to know each other. D’oh!!
Happy Birthday, Carol.❤
This was just a beautiful moment. Two of the nicest people in show biz
Awwww. 😊
One of those that made me laugh until I cried....wow. I saw it when it first aired. Thanks.
Wonderful moment!
Makes me emotional!!!!
💖🤣💖🤣💖🤣💖🤣💖
As big a star as she was, I loved how she went full-on fangirl.
Her response to Jimmy was beautiful. I love it.
Love Jimmy, what a great guy and actor!
I love jimmy Stewart and I love Carol Burnett and this is just like Christmas and New Year's for me, seeing them together. It;s a lovely bit. Thank you.
"They call the wind Maria" a piece I sung for Easter, though there were no gimmicks like water.
I LOVE YOU CAROL BURNETT!! GOD BLESS YOU DEAR LADY!
I have nevet seen such a great surprise pulled on someone until this one

Back in the good old days of entertainment. ❤
This has to be the best final episode of any show ever what a great way to end it by bringing on Carol's idol and seeing that reaction
He looked like her dad. Thats why she is so emotional
You gotta love how Carol is trying to figure just what the heck Tim is telling her. You can literally see her saying to herself, "What the hell, this is not wat we rehearsed, what's going on?"
This clip is one of my favorite things. Ever.
This was at a time when married couples on TV couldn't be seen sleeping in the same bed.
Love the look on Carol’s face.
When comedy was funny , not mean , vicious, nasty ,political garbage. ,
You're so right!! Even the political humor back then was good-natured ribbing and not divisive or vitriolic.
Mean , vicious, nasty. Does that remind you of anyone?
Absolutely perfect for any compost bin!
For those of you too young to remember, Carol's reaction is NOT an act. Yes! And I agree about The Dick Van Dyke Show. Some shows are timelessly funny. I think The Odd Couple is #1 on that list but DVD is #2 definitely
Jimmy was a great actor even a gentleman and Patriot but sadly racist.
I can't believe he was never on show before
What a beautiful TV moment
Just beautiful!!!!! Thank you!
