Exit Timing - You Got That Right! Still, "'Understated!!!'" I don't think there are words to describe Karen's "'Incredible!'", "'Awesome!!!'" Voice!!!
      Karen's Voice, Will "'ALWAYS BE!!!!!!'",
      "'IRREPLACEABLE!!!'"
Now, mostly, there's just so much, electronic assisted 'junk', NOT Talent, Non-sense, in comparison! Carpenters, Truly, "R!",
      'Innocent!', "Authentic!", "TRUE!!!" Musical ""'TALENT!!!'""
      😄👍😁👊😁😉👌😅

Aiden, this was 1971 & Karen at age 21. The continuous Touring & Studio demands resulted in her weight reaching over 145lbs & in 1974, Her Wardrobe, Makeup & hair Person made choices that actually accentuated her weight gains. By age 24 (1974) inclusive, Karen was already looking like late 30's. That's when she started her dieting regimes.

Karen looks so wonderful in this video. She has gorgeous long hair, a beautiful smile and a killer voice. Too bad she had such low self-esteem. She was one-of-a-kind. I was lucky to see her and Richard IN PERSON in the mid-1970's. Karen was a tiny little fireball at that time (didn't know she was so sick) and Richard was pretty much a "stiff" behind the piano. Clearly Karen had the personality, Richard knew music inside out!!

Rhianna couldn't light a candle much less hold a candle to Karen and a plethora of other talented female artists from that period. I do think she possesses some talent but like so many young artists today is far too in love with herself for my taste. Many in her generation are what some would refer to as attention whores. Every entertainer seeks and loves attention but some of today's artists have taken attention seeking to a whole new level. This 'It's all about ME' and 'I'm Special' mentality saddens, annoys and bores me to know end.

I remember when this first aired back in '71. I remember thinking Karen was Babara Feldon from 'Get Smart'. And I had 2 Carps albums by this time. Anyway, what's really impressive here is actually how Carol learned this whole complicated musical arrangement and even managed to sprinkle in some comedy bits. We usually don't acknoweldge it, but while Carol Burnett was a great comedianne, she was also a fine singer --even tho' she always seemed to downplay it. Great harmonies; great musical timing.

God, what a thrill this had to be for Carol! The TRIO sounds FAB. Carol blended nicely held her own with one of the world's greatest singers. Carol, "I LOVE IT" bet she really did. Of course, it had to turn into a comedy bit. Good times for all had.

This is my favorite version of the Carpenters' Bacharach/David medley. This up-tempo version is really energetic and displays the talent of the song writers and the Carpenters. Carol Burnett does a stellar performance as well. This is great!!!

I always though of Carol Burnett as an old lady back in the day, now she looks young and even hot. Where has all the time gone?

WOW! I agree with every comment on this page 100%. This was that Golden age of Entertainment in the 1970's where it seemed that there was an embarrassment of riches in the talent department. Karen Carpenter is stunning and clearly having fun.
Carol Burnett was an awesome triple threat comedienne, and Richard was a brilliant musician / composer / singer. This was a blast to watch, and makes me long for Karen to be with us again. Variety shows like this were the greatest. I guess Saturday Night Live is about the only one we have nowadays.

I just now discovered this nugget of a video and it's magic. Thank you, FidlerAve! I often watched her show but I missed this one. (I was in junior high at the time...). Karen's voice is, as always, unmatched. Carol actually looked a bit nervous at times looking at amazement at Karen and knowing she would have to bring her A-game to hang. And she did! This was a pretty long, quite difficult medley of different keys, syncopations and phrasings. I thought Carol could sing quite well back in the day and she was Never afraid to stand up and sing along with the likes of some of the best. Just some of the singers she had as guests on her show back then included: Ella Fitzgerald, Dionne Warwick, Mel Torme, Nancy Wilson, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Cass Elliot, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr., Natalie Cole. And I'm pretty sure she did some sort of duet with all of them. But, of course, Karen was straight from God. She never looked like she had to work at it, just simply open her mouth. What a gem of a video. Thank you - thank you !

Fantastic!!! Why is there no talent left for a variety show of this nature anymore? I know, there are no composers like Bacharach, comediennes like Burnett, and there will never be another Karen and Richard Carpenter. They got the USA through some tough times.

I never seen this before and I love The Carpenters and I love Carol Burnett and her show. I don't know how I missed it after all these years. .... (probably because I have had imbibed a little too many Drugg ohs during that time ......possibly intermittently afterwards, oh my grief). Anyway, I love this and I'm going to add it to my UA-cam music Favorites Playlist!
