NOTE: Please check out my newest and so far best pain remedy extract here: ua-cam.com/video/gm_UN7sTfqg/v-deo.html ALSO: I tend to get to yammering in my videos and then forget to mention a few important details. For example - this extract is for INTERNAL use for various pains including headaches, joint pain, and muscle aches. Also, after allowing the herbs to sit in the solvent for 6-8 weeks, I strain out the herbs and store in a glass jar or bottle in a cool, dark cabinet
One question I have seen other videos where I guess it was in the “tincture “ method rather then extract, they would boil the contents with the alcohol which they used in the video everclear grain alcohol that’s close to 90% alcohol and boil it until it’s about half of the original volume. I like your method better it seems simpler but I do understand that with the alcohol or tincture method rather then the extract method the results would be a stronger product. So two questions, 1) then with the extract method no boiling is necessary, right? You just store for four to 6 weeks then strain it. And then 2) for commercially made extract products that you see in the stores, what is typically used most, vinegar, or alcohol when they make their products? And is it possible to make a extract with alcohol and just strain it after 4 to 6 weeks and not boil it like I have seen in other videos? Thank you great video also can you recommend a good site for medicinal plant seeds? I suffer from chronic pain with fibromyalgia and neuropathy also joint pain, the pharmaceuticals that were prescribed to me were killing me and giving me ulcers and gerd, and many digestive disorders that almost literally killed me, I started taking ginger root, turmeric, and garlic and I feel cured from my digestive disorders but I still am having painful nerve pain that keeps me up at night. Thank you for your videos, eastern medicine the doctors only are paid if the patient stays healthy, western medicine the doctors only get paid if the patient stays sick. 😷 🤷♂️ 🧐🤔 Thanks again God Bless
Also it’s important to note that recently glyphosate has been found in store bought wines, beers and alcohol, with traces to leading back to Monsanto. Glyphosate has links to causing lymphoma cancer, and to fibromyalgia and neurological disorders. If you think you have any condition that maybe a result of pesticides or other chemicals that cause any of your pain related issues, we are supposed to be compensated after the most recent ruling in court over Monsanto. Monsanto is a monster that corporation should be driven out of business, they literally are the devil. No ifs ands or buts about it they make business out of destroying Gods creations, I think that’s the text book definition of the devil. Anyway they really upset me but I thought I would mention that, because it’s good that you make your own wine and vinegar. Thanks again God Bless
@@isaacwillson8617 I take herbs for pains but I realize that praying give me more results. I also speak to the pains like Jesus did speak to the demons and commanded them to leave. He said that what he did we also can do and even more. He gave us all we need to trumph.
@number1hinesfeet It really depends, much of the glass bottles (indluding the brown swing top beer bottles I use for extracts) and jars I use I have obtained from garage sales but my swing top clear 1 liter bottles are Italian made and high quality. I purchased them new. Some bottles are recycled maple syrup bottles.
Very good information. The Lord has put every herb in the ground whether one or a combination with other things to heal all sicknesses and diseases. Thank you for the heart to do this.
Mother Earth grows everything; Mother Earth provides. God and Satan are the same people and is a delusion. You didn't come into the planet from gods world; you came out of the planet, like a wave from the ocean. That's why herbs, plants, roots and natural remedies work, in your biological, organic physiology.
We are in SC have a good friend in Wyoming who has MS and I'm going to tell her about your great channel God bless you, I have been led to many good Christian channels I'm surely aware God is helping me know what and where I need to learn. Proverbs 3:13
I cannot put into words how appreciative I am of your knowledge and abilities in this area!!! And, your willingness to share. I remain in awe. I love learning from you!!! Love & prayers
@@RainCountryHomestead Hello, I have a question. Before You strain the herbs do you simmer in low heat on the stove or is that not a good thing to do? Hope You hear back from You....
I like your information. I am an amateur herbal person. My kids and I used to know the Latin name and properties of over 50 plants here in eastern Washington. I am relearning the info with my grandkids. It is fun. Thank you for sharing your story
@Rain Country What an amazing channel, I am subscribed as of today. Can't wait to watch others. I have quite a few "homemade herbalists " on hand but your channel incorporates God & His love of beautiful things. I've never seen a channel like it. I'm sure there are some but this feels so much more down-to-earth. A great gardening tie in! 😂 Thank you
I like how you show both the ultra-precise way of doing things for those who are unsure of how to get started AND the more "eh, some of this, a little of that, let it sit" way (which appeals to those of use more guided by intuition than teaspoons).
You are such an inspiration! I'm rarely take OTC meds & I'm thankful not to have any prescriptions. I have a headache & I'm really wishing I had some of your tincture. I will be making it asap!
Maybe I missed it but I only saw the 4 to 8 week timeframe and then about straining when it’s ready. I’ll try to find in other videos if you mention this. Your videos are awesome and I appreciate your reminder you’re not licensed to practice, and are just you and the rest of us trying to keep from the medical establishments treating us to death < those are my words from experience and from watching what they have done to other trusting souls. ♥️⭐️♥️
Not sure what you are asking but standard time I use for all extracts is at least two months but I usually leave them until I need them and then I strain so if they sit for 5 or 6 months or more, I am not concerned
Thanks Heidi.. I make all my tinctures out of Everclear.. but the wine is what I make at home, so would be more self sustainable. I will be interested and see what the results are. As far as making the grape wine by fermentation for several day.. It is nice to be able to "capture" the grape skin tannin's on them. Wine like vinegar, can be made with anything.. beet is one of my favorite "earthy" flavor of wine, and is IMO yummy.. but also have the great benefits of the beet root itself.. I also put beets in my fire cider. Isn't this all fun? and so beneficial. I will be staying tunes for the results. Thanks for sharing your process..
I made honey wine (mead) for years, but only tried making the grape wine for the first time this past year and that was more of an after thought later in the year using my homecanned grape juice. I am sure using fresh crushed grapes will be better as that is the more natural way anyway :)
My very first youtube instructional video was how to make grapejuice (which is based off of very simple equipment that most of us already have on hand) so you can do a search or just go back to the very first page of my videos and find it :D
Hi, I use Pure Mountain Botanicals …Nettle 500 mg and I’ll take one as needed, sometimes 2 in a day. Some days not. Also yes Wild Lettuce 🥬 leaf capsules. I go back and forth, pretty random dosing. Also use a comfrey aloe vera salve topically. Hope this helps 💕🙏🏼🌿
Thank you, Heidi! I am wanting to learn how to make tinctures and extracts. I know zilch right now (and I am older person), but after the big C came out, I woke up to the pharmaceutical industry and am going to do my best to get my husband off meds. Thank you and may God bless you richly for teaching us. 🙏
Great video Heidi. I have been trying to find natural way to treat pain. I am tried of taking over the counter pain meds. They also haven't been working on the knee pain I have been having
Yvonne Johnson same here with knee pain. A year after meniscus tear surgery and it’s still swollen and not happy. Waking me up at night. I will definitely be using Heidi‘s tips on making pain remedies.
Amazing how empowering it is to be so self sufficient! I just saw a video that announced your first grandbaby coming! Congrats! I agree with you. When you take no pharmaceuticals you seem to not need them anyway. The more herbal remedies you use, you are actually getting nutritive value as well as medicinal value, but you do not NEED them as you did for the Rxs. They never seemed to work for me much anyway, so I do not miss pharma. Great videos. Keep it up!
You just gave me more inspiration for getting off my medicines! I recently used Sambucol Black Elderberry for colds/flu, as I never could take decongestants and would get on antibiotics to stop an oncoming sinus infection, and it cleared up in 3 days-I was amazed! That helped with my decision to get off all drugs! I had been way over medicated for pain-osteoarthritis in both knees and herniated disc’s; I had been sedentary and muscles atrophied. Couldn’t walk to mailbox! So I had to move in with my son and family and just packing & moving itself got me losing some weight which helped me walk, now I’m walking around the block with my granddaughter of age 2, lifting her up, getting on the ground and back up-a little slow, but doable! In pain 24/7, but bearable. I have been on 30 mg of pain meds for past 6 years and as of right now I’m down to 2.5 mg/day. I feel a little more sore, but I think that’s part of the detox. I started taking a generic super beets powder, I purposely don’t use a full scoop & it helps with my circulation so I’m not taking my nightly fluid pill and it boosts my immune system & has plenty of antioxidants! I used to take 3 anti anxiety pills a day, & now am down to a half a pill/day. I know lemon balm & peppermint tea will help with that! I really think the pain meds were making me gain weight, masking other things and didn’t really help much anyway! I couldn’t agree with you more, and I’m living proof you are right!
@@marcymoran6481 Great. Try Bio Freeze Professional strength (10mg menthol) spray for areas that hurt. In spite of being a spray on the outside , it really seemed to help the inside pain of joints etc. And no meds into the system! It is temporary , of course, but seemed to work well on my extremely painful knees inflammation and toe injury. I even used it on my herniated disc pain with pretty decent success. So glad for your success. Meds have so many side effects that we think are illness but are just the meds themselves. Enjoy that granddaughter!
Just be warned that there are a couple things in there that hint at witchcraft but I am sure if you use your discernment, you will know what to avoid. I had only found them much later when reading through some of the recipes. I got the book more for the information on the herbs themselves, which is excellent
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you, I will make a note of that when I read it. I am prone to write notes in my books, and had several herb books that totally related to spells. I was going to give them to Goodwill, but Mike brought up what I thought was a good point- "if you are Biblically against those books, why would you put them out there for someone else to stumble. I couldn't disagree. Blessings!
I am so excited to try this! I am growing herbs and dehydrating them as well. I also purchased some dried herbs this week as well. I now grab a note card and pen when I watch your videos and take notes. Your great! Thanks for all the knowledge!
thank you for sharing, and this is giving me the inspiration to carry on what my family has done similar to this. Bless be to you and your family my friend.
New to your channel ordered books . Thank you you came up at the right time . I have been prepping and hubby and I have alot of serious medical problems.
Amy's book is excellent, it is now my favorite, she is so thorough. I am pretty much a "fly by the seat of my pants" person when it comes to making extracts but she is very precise so I recommend her to newbies. Hers is the "Homesteaders Herbal Companion"
Hi Heidi...I have been following you for some time now. I enjoy watching your videos & like how you make this easy for beginners to learn to make their own teas & herbal remedies. I am like you in that I am self taught. I am 68yrs old & began studying & making my own remedies when I was 25yrs. There is just one suggestion that I want to mention here...when making any herbal tea, tincture, etc, it is essential to mention to folks that they should never give ANYTHING to a child less than one year old! It could lead to infant botulism due to contaminated soil or dust which can contaminate the honey! I feel that it’s just as important to safeguard ourselves when sharing these wonderful natural remedies as it is to disclose that you are not a doctor or a formally educated naturalist. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. I feel that we, as a society, are heading for a time when it will be essential that we know how to forage, harvest & use the many things that God has given us for our health!!🥰🎶🌱🌼
I am not sure what happened to my reply but yes, I absolutely know that you are not to give honey to infants and knew this when I was a young mother of my own babies. but if you look it up, it is actually under the age of one, not two. However, I never had intention of giving any kind of herbal extract to my grandchildren until they were older. Whenever you hear me mention grandbabies, it is because I am preparing for that day when not only do I have grandbabies but also when they are old enough. "Grandbabies" is just my general term for grandchildren
Heidi...I am sorry if you thought that I was implying that you didn’t know about this! My intent was to simply remind you that you might want to mention it for those folks who aren’t aware of this fact.🤷🏻♀️ Again, I apologize for the miscommunication...have a great day & God’s good grace & blessings!🥰🌺🙏
@@sylviavanhoy7504 You were totally fine and I understood that, but I did have another person that was basically yelling at me (typing in all caps) and that comment came in on another video about the same time yours did
@@roseyfinley4785 honestly I have been taking it for at least 10 years.. I and many others have had great success with it... The group I have been in has been defending it's use. I know some people have died and it was found in their system.... However, I have not checked the stats in about a year but for everyone that has died, kratom was not the only substance in their system.... Fentanyl, oxycodone or contyn, Xanax and other hard substances were in their system... In large amounts..... Far more people are dying from fentanyl... As a chronic pain patient, I and others can tell you, the government has tied the hands of pain management doctors to be able to effectively treat their patients.... Hence the opioid epidemic created by our government.... If they take kratom away, more good people will feel they have no choice but to hit the streets looking for whatever they can get their hands on.... I have no issue with regulation of kratom but, what it all boils down to is this... Big pharma and the government are not making money off of it because I promise they don't care about you or I🥺🥺
Thank you so much for all the information you share, I realise this is an older video and that you may not see this but i want to thank you. I personally am under a fair amount of stress at the moment due to my mum not having long left due to cancer and being the eldest some are plotting and some leaning on me for support . So the cat nip and feverfew i think maybe ideal for my own sanity atm xx
Thankfully youtube gives us a special section where we can see all comments that come in order so it does not matter how old a video is! :D I am going to give you a link to some capsules I made, even if capsules are not an option, I do talk about other herbs that can be used for pain: ua-cam.com/video/PzZkayfyyAg/v-deo.html
just starting with the cayenne pepper. I have it sitting for eight weeks and have some on the way in capsules. I am hoping they really work. Looking FW to trying some new mixtures. we use a valerian tinc. for sleep. And I need to find the anti inflammatory video after this. she has such informative videos. I am now also looking to purchase some feverfew thanks to her.
I have spectacular headaches and migraines. I've found that if i put peppermint essential oil directly (and you can put peppermint directly onto skin - but not broken skin - for most people) onto where the pain is on my head/back of neck, it goes cool, then knocks me out to sleep, and the pain is gone. Does the same (without the sleep) for intestinal/bowel pain, and for swellings or pain in joints, or swollen muscles, sprains etc. Great also for those sores people get on lips and noses from a cold, etc. Also helps with faster healing and reduces the swelling - though something moisturising like beeswax to help with the dry, tight scab is a good idea. It can even prevent those sores if used early enough, being anti-viral and anti-inflammatory.
Hi Heidi, What a great video - and yes, those are my favorite books too!! Like others have already said - I am so appreciative of the wonderful knowledge you share!! And this is a great pain remedy to make. Thanks for sharing about the difference between a tincture and an extract. Love seeing the calendula vinegar. I am anxious to try that once I have calendula flowers. Love, Mary
Love...love...love the way you think!!! I haven't been able to make my tincture because the money for the alcohol is just not in our budget. We make our own wine so I am very interested in using that...last batch we made was 14% alcohol. Can't wait for the video on your antibacterial extract.🌻
I think using wine because it is sustainable is great. But there are two issues to using it over vodka or Everclear... 1. It won't have as long of shelf life. One needs at least 25% alcohol content for it to keep. 2. Different plants release their medicinal qualities better in a much higher alcohol concentration The herbs used here were dry, meaning they do not have any water, meaning they could be extracted by a lower alcohol content. (Fresh herbs often need at least 40 proof (80% alcohol by volume) to make up for the water content in the flower/herb to keep it at at least a 25% alcohol by volume concentration of alcohol so it won't spoil. So 14% alcohol could extract some constituents from the dry plant, but it would not have a long shelf life.
Have you ever tried making Rosemary Gladstar's FIRE CIDER. I have this on hand all year long. I am getting ready to make another quart of it for my winter stock. :0)
Hi Heidi...I have been watching you for a good while & find your videos to be quite informative. There is just one thing that I want to point out here...when making any type of herbal concoction that you may want to give to a little one for any ailment, you should never give honey nor anything containing honey to a child under the age of 2yrs old! It can cause some pretty harmful side effects since their immune systems are still developing! Please keep your videos coming!! I myself am self taught like you. I am 68yrs old & have been studying & using herbal remedies since I was about 25yrs old with great results. I believe that we are heading for a time that it will be essential that we know how to treat ourselves & our loved ones with natural ingredients! It’s important that folks like us share our knowledge & experience in living a more natural lifestyle!!🥰🌱☘️🌿🌼
Yes, I have known this for many years, even when I was a young mother of my own babies. However, the age is under one year, not two, though it is likely best to go ahead and wait until they are two. I never had intention of giving raw honey to an infant. When I say such things in videos, I am just thinking and planning ahead for that time. I would be nervous about giving any herbal extract to a child under the ages of 1 or 2 anyway.
Thank you- loved ❤️a video or yours yesterday, subbed, so got this one today. Just bought Rosemary Gladstar’s book per your recommendation. I have severe arthritis and take Wild Lettuce 🥬 as well as Stinging Nettle for a bit of relief. Looking forward to seeing & learning more from your videos. God bless you & your family 🙏🏼❤️
Another great video. Good idea to use what you grow. We have been blessed with many options. Google and Rosemary can help with choice of herbs that help with pain. I just made my pain and inflammation infused oil. Comfrey oil infusion and essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender and Rosemary for a TOPICAL rub.
LARK'S GARDENS Funny story: I apprenticed with Rosemary a couple+ decades ago. She told us that when she first started “playing” with *100% pure essential oils* (FYI must say that on label or it’s a fragrance or synthetic oil...not good for medicines), her husband at the time was achy all over. She had him take a bath and added an entire half to one ounce - can’t recall - of straight peppermint oil to his bath. She left the room then suddenly heard him screaming, “What did you do to me?!?” She ran to the bathroom and there he was standing naked and beet red. She found out later that she should’ve only put about 10 drops into his bath water. Btw, if you ever OD like this from essential oils (cayenne would be another), DON’T use water to wash off...that only drives the oil deeper into your skin. The best thing to do is pat olive oil on your skin; you could try honey too but oil is the best. She had all the apprentices in stitches telling that story. Too funny. As for overly spicy foods, chase with bread which helps tremendously. Thought you’d get a chuckle from this too. Btw, her husband suffered no damage from her early days of starting out as an herbalist. 😂
The spices that can help with controlling pain do make a lot of sense to me because I use cayenne on everything but as of late it’s cayenne,Cajun and creole seasonings.
How often & how much of the pain/anti-inflammatory tincture should be taken per day? I followed your recipe & let it mascerate for 6 was. I just took a TBSP....... whoa!! It knocked my socks off!! Good stuff. Thank you for sharing the knowledge♥️
It is all going to be up to the person. It is not something I think of taking every day or more than once a day because if I really need it, usually one dose is good enough, however, if you need it again then for most people it will be safe to take another dose when necessary even within the same day
Thank-you for showing us how to use the real thing not some oil that a big company makes. We have most of the plants growing, started or seeds for the pain and the muscle relaxer tinctures, Please do the antibiotic soon so we can order whatever seeds we may need. Please consider doing videos on growing and harvesting each of the herbs any specific needs to grow them Ie. rich or acidic soil, high or low nitrogen, when and how to harvest, seed saving, etc.. I know you have touched on some of them and you could use clips from previous videos but it would be nice to be able to search for say feverfew on your channel and a video pop up on it. I know you did some on the medicinal benefits but I am clueless about the best way to grow them. We have the books but honestly when we want to know something we search your channel first and sometimes have to watch a bunch to find the one where you talked about it. Your channel is better than any book.
I have a playlist just of seed saving for herbs: ua-cam.com/video/Le4yw64jRoo/v-deo.html I also have a playlist of videos of profiles I have done on each herb that I linked to at the end of this video. Though I still have many more to go over, I know I have videos on each of the three I used in this video. You should have been able to find them by putting in the name of each herb in to the search so not sure why that did not work for you: ua-cam.com/video/3LdaWf83bEY/v-deo.html
Sorghum does not do well here, I tried it and was not impressed. I was going to try non GMO sugar beets but had to toss the seed when I was informed that they had been infected with GMO sugar beets.

@@RainCountryHomestead thank you ! I don't know why I'm just beginning to see your videos. I've been subbed a while I think. I live on 55 acres in n.e. Alabama and moved here from a large northern City six years ago. I turned to natural remedies many years ago after toxic pharma garbage nearly killed me for my fibromyalgia. I know about many herbs but I always learn something from you !! Your knowledge is amazing! Did you learn yourself like me ,overtime or were you taught this by your mother or grandmother or something? Just curious.
@@nelliesfarm8473 I have had to learn everything on my own and have been doing it for many years. Always learning something new because there is always more to learn no matter how much one knows on the subject
Heidi, your vinegar are pretty. I'm one that's looking to get off the trash meds I'm on. I'd like to be able to grow the plants that I could use for pain. I have hi blood pressure, 2 pills for cholesterol & thyroid pill. Would love to learn to get off all of those meds.
I will be doing a video soon on blood pressure and then one one cholesterol, but I will say this, I do not believe ANY one should or needs to take either of them from what I have learned. Our body needs blood pressure to do what it should do naturally, if it is high, then it needs to be due to whatever stress is being put on the body. If it is chronic, then find the source of the stress (physical, emotional, or chemical). Our bodies also NEED cholesterol and it is a myth that high cholesterol causes heart problems. In fact, 75% of people who have heart attacks have low or "normal" cholesterol levels, but the doctors that put you on those drugs won't tell you all that. It may be that they are simply ignorant.
Yes, our bodies actually make cholesterol, it's used to repair tears in our veins. Dietary cholesterol doesn't make us have issues, it's the issues that cause the high cholesterol. Science is slow to admit to being wrong but they are doing so, too bad it's taking a while.
Just FYI, amazon sells a product called an "air still." It will distill things like your wine if for some reason it didn't taste good. You could use the "brandy" (distilled wine) which will be 40%+ percent alcohol at that point and add it into your tinctures. The higher alcohol percent you get the faster it will vaporize into the air and you can remove the alcohol from the jars via fan or something. It may not be something you're interested in but just throwing it out there in case you were. I could see it being beneficial in a setup like yours doing tinctures.
Sounds intriguing but after years of using the wine as is, I am finding it works great. NOTE: the video above is several years old now and in fact I have changed things even more in how I make my pain extract and the solvent I use which is now a combination of homemade wine and honey. Here is my updated version which is also my best and most effective: ua-cam.com/video/gm_UN7sTfqg/v-deo.html
Good job Heidi! I generally prefer dried herbs, but some times you do have to use fresh. My last one was tincture of jewelweed done with hundred proof isopropyl alcohol but then it's external use only. That has to be done with the fresh herb the active ingredient doesn't work once the herb has been dried.
My 4th Great-Grandmother was an herb doctor and midwife. She was honored about 2-3 years ago in N.C. In hunting for her recipe book I found it was at Duke University and is done digitally. I was unable to get a copy from Duke University for some reason. Before it was given to Duke I was able to get some of it online. The problem, I have no idea where to find the herbs. Also, no measurements, like you, she probably just knew how much by sight and feel. I am interested in herbs but I have to know the "root" of each herb due to lots of allergies. For example, I am highly allergic to echinacea.
Heidi, is there any way that you would compile your videos and sell DVD sets in your Etsy store? I would purchase them and give them as gifts. Also, my little boy was sick last night, and he chose to watch "one of Heidi's recipe videos". We watched your Homemade Granola videos. I hope you would at least consider creating a homeschool "Keepers at Home" curriculum for the Homeschooling Moms and daughters, like us. You have been a blessing to my daughter and, a trusted resource, and we appreciate all that you do.
Passionflower n valerian gives me a hangover, in that I can’t really wake up well the next day. Tequila uses agave. Not sure if it’s GMOed. They have organic vodka but it’s a bit more money.
I do not think agave is GMO but things change all the time so it is best to look into it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on herbs. I just started using herbs but having trouble with parts. Could you explain parts to cups etc.? I already have both of the herbal books, they are great. Thank you.
Parts is ratio. The measurement is up to you so what that means if you choose to use 3/4 cup of glycerin then you would want 1/4 cup of water. That is 3 parts to 1 part or 3:1. If you want to make a larger batch you may use 3 cups glycerin and 1 cup water. The ratio stays the same 3 parts to 1 part.
Heidi, do you have a particular company you purchase the herbs you do not grow? Or is it a mix and match? And if they are on Amazon, maybe you could put an affiliate link so that I could support you that way? I'm slowly building our herb collection in the garden, through foraging, and otherwise.
I get most of my herbs from Amazon and I always go with Starwest or Frontier brands when I can but have tried other brands when not available in either of those or have purchased from Mountain Rose. Here are some links you can check out: Feverfew: amzn.to/2xNUacJ Catnip: amzn.to/2P46zjC Echinacea: amzn.to/2P1dIRs

Boy was that a nightmare . I went from one a day to 4 a day to manage my pain over a five year time on the suboxone. Well then I went to cbd prescription and it did help get me down to one a day suboxone but I feel my tolerance creeping back up. I’m sure these recipes wouldn’t help as you say they are for headaches and minor pains but i was wondering if you may have another video for something a little stronger . But I don’t want to get tired from it. Thanks so much! I want to find more natural ways to cure my pain the pharmaceutical industry is dirty I am finding out.
Feverfew is the common herb for migraines if that is what you are looking for. Yes, I have a video where I go over many different herbs and methods for natural pain relief here: ua-cam.com/video/V5JOC-b74gs/v-deo.html
@@RainCountryHomestead as I said before I have extensive pain in my body. I have fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, arthritis and some other things. A headache med won’t do.
Apparently if tinctures are placed in hot water it makes the alcohol dissipate. I have given my babies tinctures this way. I’ve never found there to be an issue. They are both now 26 and survived my efforts just fine lol
It will not remove all the alcohol and heating them too much can damage the some of the nutrients - mostly vitamins A and C, but yes, that can be done. This video is kind of old and now that I have one grandbaby and another on the way, I have been creating better and healthier ways to make extracts. I switched from glycerin to honey but that should not be give to younger babies so the ones I make for them will be made from maple syrup. I will have a video coming out on this in a few weeks
I have used wild lettuce. I have serious pain from a genetic condition and it didn't even touch it. But it did work for both me and my teen daughter's menstrual pain when we used it in tea.
NOTE: Please check out my newest and so far best pain remedy extract here: ua-cam.com/video/gm_UN7sTfqg/v-deo.html
ALSO: I tend to get to yammering in my videos and then forget to mention a few important details.
If you run that through a still I'm sure it Will extract more the flavor out
@@isaacwillson8617 I take herbs for pains but I realize that praying give me more results.
Thank you great Creator and thank you for voicing that out we have a great God. It is scripture that he put the herbs here for us yeah baby
Mother Earth grows everything; Mother Earth provides. God and Satan are the same people and is a delusion. You didn't come into the planet from gods world; you came out of the planet, like a wave from the ocean. God is good...thank you for always starting that way. God bless u for showing us how to be healthy.
With everything going on, I have been, binge watching your videos, wish you had a book with your recipes.
Thank you for your demonstration on pain relief but also telling us what other herbs can be used also. So many herbalists don’t do this.
Thank you Carolyn, I truly hope people find it helpful. We have to do what we can with what we have :)
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time. Hallelujah.❤❤❤
@Rain Country
What an amazing channel, I am subscribed as of today. Can't wait to watch others. I have quite a few "homemade herbalists " on hand but your channel incorporates God & His love of beautiful things. I've never seen a channel like it. I'm sure there are some but this feels so much more down-to-earth. A great gardening tie in! 😂
Thank you
You are incredible. What a gift to those of us that have found you.
Blessings
I like how you show both the ultra-precise way of doing things for those who are unsure of how to get started AND the more "eh, some of this, a little of that, let it sit" way (which appeals to those of use more guided by intuition than teaspoons).
☺️
Thank you, Heidi from the bottom of my heart.
I purchased both of the recommended books. Thanks Heidi!!
@@RainCountryHomestead would u consider making a vid showing how u make your grape juice? love your vids!!👍👍👍
My very first youtube instructional video was how to make grapejuice (which is based off of very simple equipment that most of us already have on hand) so you can do a search or just go back to the very first page of my videos and find it :D

OTC drugs are really hard on your kidneys and liver, too.
Keep it up!
Right! And thank you :D
So glad for your success. Meds have so many side effects that we think are illness but are just the meds themselves. Enjoy that granddaughter!
I just found the Rosemary Gladstar's book @ Tractor Supply and bought it on sale! Score! lol

@@RainCountryHomestead So far I have only flipped through it, I haven't had the time to read it yet, but yes, the pictures are beautiful.
I should have mentioned that grade A natural maple syrup is an excellent alternative to honey for babies!!👍🤗
My intent was to simply remind you that you might want to mention it for those folks who aren’t aware of this fact.🤷🏻♀️
Again, I apologize for the miscommunication...have a great day & God’s good grace & blessings!🥰🌺🙏

If your state allows it try a red crushed leaf kratom for pain. Magic !
I am a firm believer in kratom. Government keep trying to get rid of it...
@@cynthiariley-om4veI hear that substance is very terrible.
Big pharma and the government are not making money off of it because I promise they don't care about you or I🥺🥺
@roseyfinley4785 It is what you make it. Used sparingly, it works well for pain and sleep. Use it too much, like daily, you'll get some addiction.

just starting with the cayenne pepper.
I have a separate video on natural pain relief where I mention many more herbs as well as essential oils ua-cam.com/video/V5JOC-b74gs/v-deo.html
I'll have to come back to watch this. Thank you Hidi.

Love, Mary
Thank you Mary!
2. Different plants release their medicinal qualities better in a much higher alcohol concentration
The herbs used here were dry, meaning they do not have any water, meaning they could be extracted by a lower alcohol content.
You have your numbers backwards, 80 proof is 40% alcohol.
Thank you again you are so good at this stuff hoping to know more and more as I hear you teaching us.
Being allergic to every antibiotic known to man (this is something that has only happened in the last 5 yrs), I woild love that recipe.

Great job Heidi. Will be waiting for the antibiotic video
Thanks again Heidi for another informative video, I just ordered both books from your link. Love all you and Mr Rain do, Hugs

Yes, I am laughing. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much ❤
The spices that can help with controlling pain do make a lot of sense to me because I use cayenne on everything but as of late it’s cayenne,Cajun and creole seasonings.

It is not something I think of taking every day or more than once a day because if I really need it, usually one dose is good enough, however, if you need it again then for most people it will be safe to take another dose when necessary even within the same day
@@RainCountryHomestead ...thank you for responding. ♥️🙏🏻♥️
Thank you for such a thorough extract video. Will definitely be checking out those books.

Am wondering what you think of wild lettuce as a tincture / pain killer? Thanks
Grow Sorghum for sugar! 7 gallons sorghum cane juice boil down to 1 gallon syrup.
Grain Sorghum also produces grain. Black sorghum for darker bread!
Sorghum does not do well here, I tried it and was not impressed. I was going to try non GMO sugar beets but had to toss the seed when I was informed that they had been infected with GMO sugar beets.
Now, I was just going to ask you what books on herbalism you'd recommend, and there your download shows up! Thanks!
I use the tincture in ointment that I apply to skin near in arthritic joints and use willow bark or leaf eucalyptus arnica

Awesome info new ideas i just need to have paper &pen when i watch your vids
Thanks
Thank you sooo much!!
Hi Peggy, what was your fourth great grandmother's books name and how do I get a copy of what you have?
Heidi, is there any way that you would compile your videos and sell DVD sets in your Etsy store? I would purchase them and give them as gifts. Also, my little boy was sick last night, and he chose to watch "one of Heidi's recipe videos". We watched your Homemade Granola videos. I hope you would at least consider creating a homeschool "Keepers at Home" curriculum for the Homeschooling Moms and daughters, like us. You have been a blessing to my daughter and, a trusted resource, and we appreciate all that you do.
Yes, I am actually considering doing this very thing and thank you so much for sharing that about your son, how precious!
So glad to hear it! ❤️
Passionflower n valerian gives me a hangover, in that I can’t really wake up well the next day.
Tequila uses agave. Not sure if it’s GMOed. They have organic vodka but it’s a bit more money.
I do not think agave is GMO but things change all the time so it is best to look into it. There are many other forms of natural pain relief as well as natural anti anxiety and stress relievers and I have compilations on both so people can find the herbs and more that work best for them:

Here are some links you can check out:

Hi Angie,. Have you researched an anti- inflammatory diet '- stopping gluten, etc. Also look into biotin ( usually in a hair, skin & nails vitamin formula) boron 3 mg- ( NOT borax) & marine collagen peptides. I have psoriatic arthritis & have found great relief through implementing all these things. Only 1 finger bent due to P.arthritis & took boron - redness of joint & bending of finger stopped in 2 days - that was 7 years ago!! I take boron 2-3 times a week to prevent deficiencies Good luck!
Hi. For arthritis - Have you researched an anti- inflammatory diet '- stopping gluten, etc. Also look into biotin ( usually in a hair, skin & nails vitamin formula) boron 3 mg- ( NOT borax) & marine collagen peptides. I have psoriatic arthritis & have found great relief through implementing all these things. Only 1 finger bent due to P.arthritis & took boron - redness of joint & bending of finger stopped in 2 days -no other fingers have bent or been in pain with redness & swelling - that was 7 years ago!! I take boron 2-3 times a week to prevent deficiencies I take biotin & marine collagen peptides daily. Good luck!
I have not researched specifically for arthritis because that is not something I deal with, however, there are many good anti inflammatory herbs out there that are covered in this list: ua-cam.com/video/V5JOC-b74gs/v-deo.html
and also in this list I did on herbs and more for joint health: ua-cam.com/video/MBx9prM2Tso/v-deo.html
Arnica is a great one for that when used topically as it is both analgesic and anti inflammatory. I include it in my muscle and joint rub oil: ua-cam.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/v-deo.html
I was on roxycodone 30 mgs for 3 years and before that hydrocodone 10mg . When it got harder to fill my prescriptions I decided to try suboxone not as an addict but for pain and at the time the pharmacy was more than willing to give those as prescribed .
I don’t have a garden and don’t make my own wine. Could I use a cheap wine like Carlo Rossi for this?
Yes, you can, or you can make a tincture using vodka or other high proof alcohol
Have you ever used crepe Myrtle fliers and leaves as a tea, extract or tincture? It has many medicinal qualities.
Thanks Heidi.
Wish I knew of a good herbal TIA prevention. Then I could get off nortriptyline.
What are your thoughts or experience with using wild lettuce for pain relief?
Have not worked with it enough to have an opinion
I have used wild lettuce. I have serious pain from a genetic condition and it didn't even touch it. But it did work for both me and my teen daughter's menstrual pain when we used it in tea.
Do you have any recipes for poppy flower?
No, sorry, but my newest pain relief recipe is so far my best: ua-cam.com/video/gm_UN7sTfqg/v-deo.html
