This franchise's visuals are one of the most important things that set it apart from its competition if you ask me. Every time you start an Endless game you know you're going to see some otherworldly and beautiful stuff.
As a Riftborn fan, I can't help but think that Barren worlds would remind them of the contemplative beauty ans simplicity of Coroz, and that since they need no food, they would prefer installing themselves there rather than in any other life-bearing planet.
I still become breathless no matter how much I see these cutscenes. And imagining the cities and worlds being built to adapt to the climate of each planet is so much more. Island based cities in tropical and atoll planets or even floating cities in Ocean worlds. Enormous domes housing thousands on Ash and Barren. Just the ideas of it all is so much to think about.
I love Terraforming. I like how the planet model changes. I do wish that Kyros' model could change though - I liked the idea, as an Unfallen player, of turning a nano-nuked husk of a planet back into a Forest or Atoll planet instead.
I love this optimistic veiw of the universe, even with the tragity of it the idea that a hyper advanced civilization would terraform and cultivate life on so many worlds. And that they would fill in with ruins and tech that would springboard so many species into space fareing capable civilizations
Man these short cutscenes are probably my favorite thing about this game. It adds just so much to the game for me. I hope Endless Space 3 (if they make one) Does the same thing.
Desert EASILY has to be my favorite. Very unique musical theme compared to the others, and those flying ribbon things bring back serious vibes from Journey. So calm, mysterious, and powerful.
lol i have 176 hours of ES2 yet i still haven't seen the cinematic for colonizing gas giants till now. I almost always prioritize other tech and other planets that i've never seen them.
Atoll is just a masterpiece. And it, to me at least, the best type of planet. But the most impressive of these cinematics, that has to be Barren. It is scary, it is beautiful and it captures exactly how on the edge that colony will be (well I guess not since you can live there).
"whenever i see a world untouched by war. a world of innocence. a world of lush forests and clear rivers. i really just wanna nuke the crap out of it!" - ghost, starcraft 2 -.- the artwork on these is abslutely stunning. only thing i gotta say is that some of the planet types seem to be kinda duplicate. like whats really the difference between frozen and ice aside of semantics? or jungle and monsoon? atoll and tropical? those are really just different descriptive terms for the same type of climate/environment.
I would assume Ice is mostly constituted of water, like a cold Ocean planet, while Frozen (I'm guessing you mean Arctic) still has solid ground. Monsoon would be under constant storm rain without seeing clear and sunny days, whereas Jungle would have more of a mixed setting. As for Atoll and Tropical, I'd assume Tropical (which is named Mediterranean in my version of the game) is drier and has more rocks for a surface, compared to the sand islands of Atoll.
There are some mistakes in this video. There are no Tropical or Veld planets in the game. Instead, they are Mediterranean instead of Tropical, and Savannah instead of Veld.
I just called it what it is called in the game files. The races in the game are also called something different in the game files ie. Vodyani are called 'Vampirilis', Riftborn are Timelords and United Empire are Terrans
In case you wanted to know where the budget for this game went. Into multiple separate gas giant colonization videos that barely anyone will see, because who the heck colonizes them first.

"How are we supposed to walk on a gas giant?"
"Very carefully"
Hey hey people
Dear God, the visual artists at Amplitude are truly talented.
I love how Sci Fi always comes with this idea that life bearing planets are just one biome.
This franchise's visuals are one of the most important things that set it apart from its competition if you ask me. Every time you start an Endless game you know you're going to see some otherworldly and beautiful stuff.
Couldn't agree more with you, I really hope this company never loses its "touch" when it comes to their work. :D
normally I don't even care about graphics as long as they aren't distractingly bad, but yeah, these guys do some pretty amazing things
Stellaris looks hacked together by comparison
Barren... it's so eerily calm, yet so intimidating. Easily my favourite of these. Atoll is no far behind, brute forcing it way ahead with pure beauty.
As a Riftborn fan, I can't help but think that Barren worlds would remind them of the contemplative beauty ans simplicity of Coroz, and that since they need no food, they would prefer installing themselves there rather than in any other life-bearing planet.
If I had to describe any of these, I would say 'Living paintings'.

Oh Jesus, now *that* is beautiful.
"Where we dropping boys?"

Gotta give it to them, the devs sure can hit aesthetics with sniper precision, this is just beautiful. they have some master artists in their studio.
Tropical looks amazing. Those clear waters and beautiful rock faces.
1:18 The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.
Atoll is beautifull
Atoll and Terran
Ocean is just so soothing
Thanks for this. ES2 is too laggy on my computer to watch this.
I dont have a favorite, they all look so beautiful
Every faction in this game have balls to colonize a lava planet, but freaking gas planets.... I'm done, this game is truly amazing.
Now I want to be a lone keeper of interstellar beacon on a distant desolated planet.
I would go to a forest world.
Such seemingly trivial thing in game, yet it is such a work of art.
My favorite is definitely Boreal
lol i have 176 hours of ES2 yet i still haven't seen the cinematic for colonizing gas giants till now. I almost always prioritize other tech and other planets that i've never seen them.
Well in ES1 (240 hours on that) Gas Giants are the most rewarding planets to colonize.
This is SO FUCKING GOOD.
Holy fucking SHIT.
Ash and Atoll are fucking GODLY.
ThisismineIguess I want to live on the atoll planet....so peaceful
Atoll is just a masterpiece. And it, to me at least, the best type of planet.
But the most impressive of these cinematics, that has to be Barren. It is scary, it is beautiful and it captures exactly how on the edge that colony will be (well I guess not since you can live there).
I love how all the animals are just chilling as the spaceship streaks by like "Yep, this is a regular occurrence."
"How the _FUCK_ do we walk on a gas giant?"
_"VERY CAREFULLY."_
"whenever i see a world untouched by war. a world of innocence. a world of lush forests and clear rivers. i really just wanna nuke the crap out of it!" - ghost, starcraft 2 -.-

Where we landing boys?
when I see Atoll, it's remind me about Golden Apple Archipelago, basically similar but less lush than Atoll.
i never under stud the one biome planet thing
What's the song that plays at 5:43?
Lava and atoll are my favorites
Anyone know the soundtrack for the desert world?
Hey Hey people
isnt there one for Destroyed as UC?
bro i recently playing the 1st game. the 2nd is worth to play (not in wisualy rather the gameplay)
So are those cinematics you can watch everytime you play new game? it looks like they've used ideas from newest Master of Orion ^^
You get these cinematics each time you colonize a new planet... and depending on what type of planet it is, you'll get one of these cinematics.
Other way around, since MoO came out in 2016, while Endless Space 2 came out in 2012.
Endless Space 2 released in 2016 wat
There are some mistakes in this video. There are no Tropical or Veld planets in the game. Instead, they are Mediterranean instead of Tropical, and Savannah instead of Veld.

oh.... I didn't consider that. Interesting....
таким должен был быть но Ман с скай
How are they gonna live on the gas giant though?
vErY cArEfUlLy...
Heard somewhere that depending on the faction, you'll get different colonization methods, that true?
By faction, do you mean race? if so, yes. Most races have a different colonization method
LFP Gaming he means factions. They’re called factions in the game daddy.
LFP Gaming Like different ships coming down depending on the race. That's what I mean.
Angela Torres, yeah not in the cinematics, but in the game each faction has different ships and most of em have different ways of colonizing a planet
LFP Gaming Got it.
why does just about every creature look like the same slim cat like thing?
Someone plz turn the terran theme into a full musical composition
lol gas planets
In case you wanted to know where the budget for this game went. Into multiple separate gas giant colonization videos that barely anyone will see, because who the heck colonizes them first.
Sometimes there's a system with one lonely Gas Giant, but that's it lol
