  • Hi everyone,
    Fall is here and the lawn is looking really amazing, but as always you usually have som bare spots to fix after summer. In this video I will talk about when it is too late to seed and also what type of seed you could use late fall depending on the germination time.

    I bought peat moss today, compressed bales of 107 liters or 3 cubic feet, regular price was 13.99 cdn but at the cashier that person saw all four bales were damaged and messy.
    She told the manager who was near by and the price was reduced to 6.99$ each ( 56.01 krona)
    Woo Hoo!

    Sam, grass seed doesn’t die in winter. It stays dormant and germinates in spring. Btw, beautiful fall lawn.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Рік тому +1

      Hey Amit, I heard that and in theory that is true, but I have tried dormant seeding over winter just to see if it works, I usually get very very poor germination in the spring, so not sure, maybe we just have too much snow and ice, for too long for that to work, what do you think?

    • @amit_dhami
      @amit_dhami Рік тому

      @@SamsLawn The reason is seeds do germinate when there is brief warm spell coming out of winter and after that frost kills the baby seed plants.

    Hi Sam! Your lawn is sooo beautiful! I did a whole lawn overseeding 10 days ago after a very thorough scarification ecpecially on the weed areas and now it is starting to look green again, here in Greece the temperatures are between 12 and 25 Celsius, I hope it will be ok (fescue,rye and bluegrass mix). As for the grubs I have been told that you need to flood the area with water in the evening and they will come up on the surfus. Please make another video to show us the outcome.Many thanks.

      Hey Lucy! Thank you so much. Sounds like you have been busy with the lawn, good work! I think your temps are well and good enough to seed any type of cool season grass at the moment so I wouldn't worry at all. Interesting, that was a new method, haven't heard of that one, If I find grubs again I will definitely try out both methods! Hope you won't mind me mentioning that the idea came from you 😊

    It's possible that the grubs may have traveled deeper into the soil, now that it is getting colder.

    Hey Sam, I found some dead spots or dry spots on my lawn, and decided to poke around found big rocks, another spot tree roots and clay. Have you looked under the ground in those spots?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Рік тому +1

      Hey Sonny, I actually find loads of rocks under the lawn, usually dead spots have been just that, but this time I couldn't find any at all, but I have been finding grubs here and there, even laying on top of the lawn, so I am assuming I have a bigger grub problem than I thought, so just another thing to take care of come spring :)
      But good tip though, usually I think it is rocks and roots or just too little good soil which is the issue.
      Hope you had an awesome Christmas mate.
