  • Testing Limits on AR shooting steals. This target was purchased from X steel targets, a very reputable dealer for AR (abrasion resistance) grade shooting steals.

I shoot ar500 even ar400 at 100 yards all the time even big plates without blowing through. Only time it will go through is if it's not AR500, armor piecing rounds, or it's been weakened by improper cutting and welding. With enough abuse they can crack and even shatter but that requires a significant amount of rounds more than most individuals will ever shoot.

Agreed. Either poor quality AR500 or too thin. There are different levels of AR500 tho. If I ordered a thin 12" AR500 plate that was 1/4" small calibre AR500 those calibers would punch through. The Swiss cheese idea tho? I don't think so. It would crack and tear the steel. Full metal jacket might. But not lead tip or hollow point hunting rounds. NOT gonna happen! Remember, AR500 is a stell hardness rating. Not a thickness. They're clueless and probably bought their plates off Wish haha.
