Carbon Six pre-fit barrel in 6mm Creedmoor..
I threaded this barrel onto my Savage Model 12 LRP action. The rifle was originally chambered in Remington 260, and after that, I had that original barrel rechambered into a 6.5x47 Lapua. However, I have to say, in my experience, this little modern day .243 is a gem.

Finally had some nice weather. Changed the scope on the Tikka, and put one of my Sightron scopes on for target play. Lots of fun, outside of getting the side-by-side stuck. The handloads consist of Nosler brass, CCI Magnum Rifle Primers, Hodgdon H4831 powder, and Berger 168 grain VLD’s bullets. It is proving to be a pretty good combination for this rifle. I put this rifle together as a lightweight hunting magnum. So far it hasn’t disappointed me. Regular 3-5 shot groups are well under 1 MOA, usually closer to .5 MOA.

1 mile milk jug challenge with 6.5 Creedmoor

I did this through a bit of load development for my 6.5 Creedmoor using Hornady brass (though I usually use Lapua), H4350 powder, Sierra 142 grain Match Kings, and CCI-BR2 primers.. the MV is at 2840fps. The rifle is a standard Savage model 10 barelled action with a 24 inch varmint contour barrel. The stock is an HS Precision taken from a Savage model 12. Glass on top is a Sightron S-Tac 4-20 p...

Hit the mark on the fourth shot with my Savage Model 12 LRP 260 Remington, using the factory barrel. The loads shot here are 143 grain Hornady ELD-X bullets, 42.5 grains of H4350, CCI BR2 primers and Lapua brass. This load works well for MY rifle, if your're loading your own ammunition, load within the tolerances of YOUR rifle, and read the reloading manuals carefully. Have fun and be safe.

    You must be living in the middle of nowhere out in no man’s land in order to be able to shoot from your dining room. Also this must be a Second Amendment friendly state. If you live in any DemocRAT 🐀 runs states or cities, there is no way in hell you can do this. Nice tactical rifle from Finland. Thank you for sharing.

    All rifles have been fired before an owner receives it. First by the factory and, in most countries, by someone at a ‘proof house’ to ensure our safety.

    I work in marine construction. Across a calm bay I watch a man drive a steel drift pin into a floating log. First I see him soundlessly swing the sledge hammer. Then I hear "tank!" as the sound arrives through the water. And lastly I hear "tunk" as the sound arrives through the air.

    Is that the Tikka LITE Roughtech that weighs 6.8 lbs? Also, is that the stock muzzle break that it comes with? The recoil seemed pretty mild for a light weight rifle in 7mag!

    I love my 6 Creedmoor. I just spun my PVA barrel on my Zermatt TL3 last year after I ran out of components for my Bartlien in 22-250 Ackley. The factory Hornady 108gr ELD’s are shooting a half minute out of this barrel pretty consistently. Super happy with it. That carbon six barrel is impressive. What ammo or handloads were you shooting? I don’t think you mentioned in the vid.

    I’m seriously considering get this rifle in 7mmRm left handed for long range hunting. Do you recomend it.? Being lefty i have only a few rifle/calibers available! I love 7mmRm but that calibre is closing the doors for the most long range shooting rifles availble for left handed! For that i’ve thought in this tikka model! Thanks for share with us this video

    • @DialingLongDistance
      @DialingLongDistance Рік тому

      I would think that would depend probably on the cartridge. Something like a 28 Nosler or a belted magnum cartridge that burns a lot of powder, generates a lot of heat, that might be the case. I have not shopped this in summertime heat yet, so we will see. so far, things seem to be shooting really well and really consistent.

    Hey brother try using a snake instead of the rods to clean, They actually work way better and easier. I have to admit when I heard you say barrel break in I puckered. People barrel break in is a bull shit myth started long ago by a barrel maker to make you wear out your barrels faster so he could sell more barrels. It is total BS. I have to warn you I would straight up knee cap you for that Trump hat you got. I want it. Your groups will typically start to spread after 3 to 4 shots with that rifle. It's guranteed 3 shot 1 moa and anything after 3 back to back will start to open. Mine does it too

    Beautiful. Love the 7mmM. I just picked up a CTR, Tikka last week in .308. I love Tikka - but these bolts seem to always want to remain cocked. Both mine and yours cocked right out of the box - I can see in the video. I always like to remove the tension on the spring, so you can rotate the front part of the bolt (when it’s removed) and de-cock it. It seems to do the same thing in the gun. When the bolt is closed you almost have to do a dry fire to de-cock. (Gritting my teeth at dry fire). The way I see it, long term tension on the spring will weaken it? Any thoughts? Maybe they did this for a reason but I can’t see why.

      How much thicker/heavier is the barrel on the CTR vs the Roughtech? I am looking for a rifle that I can hike and hunt with but also won’t heat up too quickly at the range while target shooting.
