Thanks! It's actually been a real pleasure meeting with folks like Jim and Shane and sharing their stories. It's awesome to see these beer entrepreneurs kicking ass and making great beer.
Great to hear you really enjoyed it; we're trying to go to amazing places and get behind the scenes in order to show off amazing craft beer culture. It sounds like it worked in your case! Don't worry, there are lots more shows!
Like it? I loved it! It's great to see someone with a passion going out and doing what they love. The fact you are taking a camera along and letting us all tag along is just the icing on the cake.
You had in my awe as a young child with your games. I am older and now you have me in awe with your passion for beer. Much love from Austin, Texas!
That is the size of the brewery I would like to have one day. It seems to be the perfect fit for someone looking to refine their beers while still being able to get their product out. Also, like these guys, if it gains enough popularity the only direction from there it up. These people are living my dream right now.
Cool; one of the things we're contemplating is showcasing great places to have a beer, as well as places that make great beer. That sounds like it belongs on the list that covers both.
One day without a doubt; as you can imagine we're in an incredibly target rich environment with sooo many places to go, and so many breweries to visit. We're off to Colorado next, and then... who knows!?!
Yeah, it was a very smart move to prove it out before expanding. I think if you put in enough care and love, as well as skill into your product there's a good chance for success. These guys prove it!
I have to say, Greg, I've always been a big fan of your previous work, and was rather sad when you left that field. What you've done here is hop from my one great passion to the other, and I'm so very excited to see more of this great show! Thanks for years of great content, and I'll go grab a cold one to toast to many more.
Great first episode. It's awesome that shows like this give exposure to the amazing craft brew scene happening. Greg is super inspiring as I'm also in the video game business with hopes to start a craft brewery soon.
I was never much of a beer fan until I moved to San Francisco and saw how many local craft options there are. Oh, the Pliny!
Anyway, just wanted to say I enjoyed the first episode - informative without being too stiff and lecture-like. Appreciated the casual environment and tone, and now the Fuego is a must-try. Looking forward to future episodes!
You won't be disappointed, they're very solid beers. The guys have broken new ground on the bigger facility (as you saw from the video); depending on when you come back, their beer might be everywhere thanks to the new capacity coming online.
Good guy Greg promoting local honest businessman... got my thumbs up :)
Thanks for your comments! Games and beer seem to be thing worth being passionate about...:)
Thanks much, and let's be clear, I saw what you did there with the "hop" from one great passion... an excellent pun sir. I appreciate the kind words.
Great first episode guys! Can't wait to see when you hit up Colorado.
Thanks - much appreciated!
Yah - I've had many beers from all of those places - excellent stuff. They'll be on the list for sure.
Dude, where did you go?
Awesome! Can't wait for more
Hopefully by the time you come to the US we'll have a nice guide to the best places to enjoy great beer!
Keep up the great work Greg! Love the show. Shout out from Western Australia, we love our beer down here :-)
Loved it, looking forward to seeing the next episodes. I'll certainly visit them when I do my US trip next year! :)
Great in-depth interview, I'll definitely be looking for some Twisted X Fuego and Chupahopra next time I'm in Austin!
Like I said before Oskar Blues in longmont CO is a great place for local brews. Also Avery beer company in Boulder CO has some fantastic beers aswell as Great Divide in Denver CO. Keep up The Beer Diaries!!!
Thank you sir; I love beer too...:)
Thanks! You'll need to go to Austin to get the Fuego, and even then it's going to be in short supply until the guys get their new, larger brewery online.
We appreciate the comments; we're serious about beer, but we also like to have fun and enjoy it. Hopefully that comes across in the content.
We're going to bounce between the US, Canada (I'm Canadian) and Europe. As you might imagine the world of Craft Beer is a VERY target rich environment, so we've got our hands full trying to document it!
I highly recommend it; as you can see from the video if you run a craft brewery you get to drink on the job. Responsibly, from small glasses, of course.
There were great rpg's and now we have great episodes. Definitely, subscribing!
Greetz from Belarus!
Fantastic stuff! As a newbie brewer and beer lover this is just the show I've been waiting for. Needs more beards though!
Thanks for the exhaustive list; I'm always looking for people's recommendation on great beers. And, believe it or not, Little Creatures Pale Ale is available here in Edmonton, Canada at my local beer store! It's a great, great Pale Ale. We're really luck in Alberta because the import laws allow anyone to set up an imported with no red tape. The result? Unbelievable selection!
This is a great show you have here, Dr. Greg. I fuckin' love beer.
Thanks for the comment; I'll talk to the team and get their thoughts.
Duckstein Hefeweiss, from one of my favourite brewers (local to me) The Duckstein Brewery in the Swan Valley.
Hahah - I know that Shane and Jim aren't all that bearded, but when Jim was at the premiere of the episode last week he was sporting a huge goatee. I'll talk to the management. Glad you liked it!
I think what's on tap from Twisted X as this point is quite variable since their production will be pretty limited until they get into their new facility. Strange as it sounds, you may even want to call the Flying Saucer to see what they've got. A couple other places that are known to carry their beers are The Dig and the Whip In. They're safe bets too.
If you ever end up in NH, check out Milly's Tavern! They have some awesome microbrews, and a bunch of great culture surrounding their tavern.
Thanks. Any Colorado breweries that are "must see"? We're going to poll the viewers/fans to determine where we end up going!
found you guys from tapletop more ppl should know about these videos :D
Arvo 51 made by Casella Family Brewers, they are based on the east coast of Australia
Matso's Broome Brewery, they make a great Mango infused beer amongst others. Based in Broome, north of Perth.
@Greg Little Creatures Pale ale, made by a Perth based independent brewer.
Check out last stand brewing company in Austin as well if you like twisted x
Nice, looking forward to the next episode. Any plans of visiting some breweries in Europe in future? Or are you first going through all states of the US? ;-)
There are more; next we'll be posting our interview with the fine folks from Thirsty Planet... watch for it soon.
Heh - I've have to bring a growler as they don't bottle yet. Also, I'm not sure if you can actually carry on a keg, or if it qualifies as checked luggage...:) It might explode!
With a name like Maltwater I sure hope so!! Which are the good beers in your neck of the woods?
I saw that they distributed their beer to the Flying Saucer, do you know what brews go there and if it's a permanent tap there? I'm glad you did a brewery in Austin since I live in San Antonio so I'm an hour away. Going to be there next week so it would be nice to pick some of their beers up
HEB carries these brews, not bad stuff

Sadly probably not; at least not the one they make. A fair number of places are starting to make pepper beers; e.g. Wynkoop and Twisted Pine in Colorado make them. If you do travel westward at some point you'll probably find a good pepper beer or two.
I know you probably get a lot of these messages, but are you and Ray ever going to return to video game development?
I loved your games and it's really sad what EA did to your company.
