Im getting the Ally X next month. I checked the Legion Go but it was just WAAAAAY too big for me. Its huuuge. So I picked the Ally X for portability, VRR, 80watts battery and 24gb RAM.
I have the Go and OG Ally. Really love the screen on the GO and the size is great for playing at home. The Ally is great for taking on the road and tossing in a bag. I think the smoothness of the Ally with VRR is massive. The Ally is butter smooth but I always feel that choppiness on the GO. When you switch back and forth between the two iss very noticeable
There's no way you have a Go because from everything I've seen, there has been no tearing or choppyness coming from the screen even tho it has no vrr. Any review. And hands on itself. I don't get any of that
Thank you. Great video. Im in the market right now but in canada price difference is huge. Lego is 650$ can and ally x is 1100! So you can guess which one i ordered. Im picking up the lego tomorrow.
The legion go is now 499 on amazon for 512k most people will upgrade the ssd ... also there are adapters to take it to a 2280 nvme ssd.. So for that price its very attractive..
Great video I really enjoyed it keep up the good work. I have the Legion Go and the original ROG Ally. One use case for these hand held devices is the streaming services. GeForce Now 4080 service is absolutely amazing on these hand held devices. Imagine playing Cyberpunk 2077 at max setting with the highest ray traced setting (I think it's called path tracing or something like that) at 1080p or higher, you will get around 80 - 100 FPS of smooth game play. Battery life on the Legion Go while steaming is around 4 - 5 hours. Also Xbox, PlayStation and PC streaming work really well. So good it seems better than native game play. I would be interested in your options on using these streaming services with the Legion Go and ROG Ally X.
fps mode, tablet mode, back stand, and big 2k screen with 144hz are not weird features. these features are the ones im looking for a handheld. i love that it could turn into tablet with fps mode its so versatile

At Best Buy you can get the preferred customer plus pro whatever it’s called for 50 bucks and then get $100 off the device. There’s not even 50 bucks. Just make sure to cancel the auto renewal before the end of the year.
I have a Legion GO was on a training course where I need a laptop and during the break I started playing Halo 2 campaign and a course participant asked me quite intrigued what kind of device it is.
The Legion Go frequently goes on sale for $550 (that's what I paid for mine). I think the Legion Go is a better console overall, but when considering price there's no way the ALLY X can beat it.
I've recently sold my legion go, due to portability, battery life, fan noise and lack of support. The screen I'd beautiful super immersive but it means very little in the long run when u factor in the above. I will be purchasing the Asus rog ally x as it fixes all of the above and more.
@HandheldHorizon Initially, I was actually really undecided about whether to switch or not, having to ensure I was plugged in to play long sessions was incredibly annoying to the point at times I just couldn't be bothered to play on a leash. Plus, the lack of support was just hugely disappointing, and if I'm honest, that worried me. I hope Lenovo gets it together. The legion go is a really good first product. Bigger battery, more RAM, maybe VRR, and a slightly smaller screen would be a good step forward.
The Legion Go is better for me personally. The larger screen is better for my eyes. I use it as a steaming device so I can max out the screen resolution to 1600p and still get 4-5 hours battery life.
Yes I use Geforce Now ultimate service. The speakers on the Legion Go are not very good, fairly poor tbh. I personally plug in headphones or use wireless earbuds.
@@Black-mx3hches right. The software support of the legion go has been trash. We only get new drivers once or twice a year and they constantly make excuses and empty promises via the subreddit.
Thing that really annoys me, is the X is no different to the original Ally except they fixed their own cock up with the SD issue… and for this it costs £800 in the UK. I could understand if the screen was bigger, or internals upgraded etc except battery life (nothing a power bank can’t fix on original). But nothing worth while
The problem is you're comparing a first-generation device to a second-generation remake. For that remake to lack an OLED display, have a smaller screen, and still be priced at $799 is a huge disappointment. The Legion Go is the better option.
More options whith LenoGo bigger 2k screen ... option to go tablet mode and real Pc mode whith docking plus price was a factor as well as i got it on sale that was 150€ off... aand 3 months of xbox ultimate as a little bonus.
@@RAFCOM1982 hard to argue with that LenoGO price. Esp compared to the $800 ally x. The GO is great. The smoother frames are clutch on the ally x tho. Essentially every game feels better
