The Legion Go offers a ton of flexibility for people like myself who love to tinker with my devices. I use my Legion Go all the time and I mainly use my Legion Go with the Lossless Scaling app to upscale my games from 1544x965 to 2560x1600 and I am using the frame generation feature of the Lossless Scaling app to greatly boost the frame rate of all my games. 144Hz screen allows me to set up multiple custom resolutions that I can devide the fps by. For example I have added a custom screen resolution of 134Hz to my Legion Go's screen and I can play all my games with frame generation at a locked 67 fps with no judder or stutter. I use the RTSS app to lock the fps of my games to 33.5fps, and then double the fps with the Lossless Scaling app's frame generation feature to 67FPS, while keeping my Legion Go's screen at 134Hz and 2560,1600p
Just bought the go. After updating and dowloading everything i can achieve 17-30fps on Destiny2. Thumbsticks feel like a madcatz, back/side buttons always hit accidentally, always tinkering with modes to have a consistent feel..5/10
I think people expect too much from these handhelds, I think they were meant to do ‘AA', indies and older games at high quality and fps, while running 'AAA' at low quality and low fps when on the go. They are not meant to replace a gaming laptop or PC. I hardly use my steam deck since I mostly home these days, but every once in a while I have some work simulations running on my PC I take it out and play a few platformers while I wait. Or when I visit family in another state.
Idk I think it depends on the game. I’ve played Elden Ring almost exclusively on my steam deck. I’ve played Elden Ring on the steam deck while docked to the TV. Comes down to games and how optimized they are.
You're supposed to pull out the thumbstick for fps mode to make it more comfortable. That's the purpose for the lil hole in the puck section in the case, to hold the thumbstick
For me, lenovo legion go can be compared to an ipad mini as well. It is a windows tablet (that is compatible to almost every app and program) with 2 usb c, interchangeable ssd, and includes gaming controllers that you can change whenever they fail, or just to detach when the space requires it so
i got my legion go last friday. i tried out fps mode last night & heard the analog is spose too come off of it , but i was scared to break the damn thing. i pulled upwards & it made an uncomfortable sounding click that i didnt like. so i let it be , its a bit wonky during game play but idk if your just browsing the web & in desktop mode i guess its a Rout. no lie tho i noticed my steam deck handles AAA titles alot better than the legion go.
I’m glad Lenovo took some chances with their joy con style control scheme but I can imagine it being annoying when trying to be fast and precise. I still struggle using the Steam Deck track pads sometimes and this seems more finicky than those. Still very happy with my OLED Deck and probably won’t upgrade until its successor.
It’s neat for sure. I feel like it would be more helpful for random desktop work. The fact it’s called FPS mode though means Lenovo totally thinks we are gonna be clicking heads with it.😂
Thanks! I didn’t hear from other reviews about the FPS mode issue where it thinks you are now on a keyboard with the left joystick. That sounds very frustrating to use.
No problem! It’s very frustrating initially but you’ve got to map everything. There also just isn’t many buttons on the left controller and it feels weird to map interact and ability buttons and such to a dpad😂
The go is one of the best hand-held. The sceens size i like the fps controller. You can use it as a mouse. You can get apps to boost the frames you use as desktop its has the kick cooler the switch oled top to me. The go is the king, then steam deck. After that, the x
You said that Legion Go runs Far Cry 6 on 1080p with low res providing 22 FPS. When I check other youtube videos, I see that the device can run smoothly in 1080p with medium settings providing 50 FPS.
Excellent video bro! Congrats. Hope Lenovo does with the Legion Go 2 what asus did with the Rog Ally X and focus on fixing their main flaws. Basically, improving controls and ergonomics, increasing memory, tweaking better the APU, improving the software
The Legion Go is undoubtedly the best device for GeForce Now! Perhaps Lenovo’s decision to design the handheld with removable controllers was to facilitate the conversion of the handheld into a Windows tablet.
The windows tablet is an interesting angle. If that were the case I feel like it would be cool if the device was tablet first and attachable controllers second. Would be cool if you could store the controller and tablet separately in the case. Legion Go would be awesome for watching movies on a plane. The kick stand angles are great.
So random review. The REAL one problem of legion go is the battery, thats it. In any other way is better than rog ally X or Steam oled. Also i cant understand what the hell you did for getting far cry 6 20-25 fps. I passed compaign of that game on legion go and got 1200p stable 60 fps, And with losseles scaling 120 fps. Also got 100% on Wukong playing at 80 fps with loseles scaling. For use windows handled you need to learn how to use AI frame generation methods like AFMF2 or losseles, but even without it, you still can play any AAA at stable 30 fps.
The legion go isnt just for gaming , the reason for the high resolution is for streaming stuff like movies or shows which it comes in handy for and part of the reason i picked the legion go up so yall gotta put two and two together
That’s fair. I’ve never seen these handhelds as more than gaming devices. I’d always prefer a laptop or tablet for content consumption or productivity. The legion go would probably be the best at all of that though if I had to guess. Being able to take the controllers off and use it as a tablet for a movie on a plane or something would be great. Solid point.
8:22 im playing Cyberpunk with the newest driver (afmf2). Getting around 80-100 fps on a 1200p…. did u even put ur device on performance mode my guy? lmao
Have a buddy that plays on Xbox and been trying to get a decent portable PC. He was exited for the Lenovo device but I told him that the best/ affordable one in the market is the Steam Deck. Gonna share this video and see what his opinion is.
Let me know what he thinks! I agree that the steam deck is the best option. This one is just really really weird lol. Thanks so so much for watching!!!
TBH, dont buy any handhelds, ever. Buy a newer xbox series s (slim form) buy a folding monitor (asus zenscreen). For half the price and slightly less transportability you get a way better experience
Sure. Ok. In what world though is playing MWIII in FPS mode either more competitively viable or even close to as comfortable as with the controller? My main gripe with FPS mode isn’t the sensor or anything. It’s the ergonomics if anything. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to hold it comfortably and I cannot find any way to hold it where I could be as precise as with a mouse. If it’s easier to be precise and more comfortable with the game controller then why in the world is FPS mode not just a mildly annoying element considering it HAS to drive the price of the device up at least a little bit.
@@AndrewTaylorYTwell, I would bet that the good old Trackpad + gyro for aiming on the steam deck works better, and it's more reliable. Besides being more comfortable too.
Neither can really compete with the steam deck still unfortunately. The legion go also solved most of my problems with the Ally. The handheld space is pretty chaotic right now.
the alley just has a piss poor display. It’s got the worst display of any handheld device in terms of vibrancy. First you have to turn on vivid color mode via AMD software. If you don’t then it’s really going to look like crap. But even after you do that, it’s still going to pale in comparison to the ISP displays of a legion go, of an Aya Neo Slide and an Aya Neo Flip. Let alone a steam deck & an Aya Neo Air, which both have OLED displays. In terms of ISP, the legion go just has the best display when it comes to color saturation. But, the battery is obv not good & it can have issues with cooling.
@@beeb7387 it doesn’t make better the colors it only improves the consistency of the frame rate. The actual color distribution on an Alley is duller than with other devices. I know this b/c I have tested damn near a dozen of them. But you probably haven’t gotten your hands on some of the handheld tech largely imported from china.
@@EXITONEZ I own a ROC Alley OG, A legion Go, a Aya Neo Slide, an Aya Neo Flip DS, an Aya Neo Air S1, a version of the One X Player, & Steam Deck OLED the V3 tablet & I don’t know what to tell you. The ROC Alley has the worst display in terms of color distribution/saturation. The only thing worst is a Steam Deck LED. But in the defense of that it’s a LED. All of these other devices are ISP or OLED. The first version of the Alley is easily the worst of those devices. The Legion Go is the best.
Isn’t really a review. Just impressions and experiences. Try to be much more “everything” when I do reviews. I think I did a full on review with the Vision Pro. That’s the only video I think that I’ve done that I would consider a genuine review.
It think Lenovo Go is trash handheld console. Why put a 144hz rate if you cant use it properly. Its hardware is an overkill that no use and do not benefits to its software. Its only sound good but in real life usage its no good for the user.
That's what I think of the ally 😅 I have vrr but I have to meet a certain amount of FPS for it to work, so it's the same as having nothing and please don't tell me that makes the Ally go smoother, vrr is one thing ALLM another and many people confuse them. I have both and I add another little thing the Ally burned my card reader (weird thing because it was always the other way around it burned the SD cards😂) anyway. Each handheld has its pros and cons for me the ally X is say the best for gaming because of its battery and those 24gb of ram that prepare it better for the future, but for work and play the legion Go is better.

you hit 144hz when you plug in EGPU so maybe that's the reason why they got such specs?
