    Good review mate - Look forward to the follow up. I bought a 5'7" Twice baked the other day and rode it at low tide on a point break around 4 foot sets and it was really tricky to ride in the critical sections. Basically had to babysit it until the wave softened out. i shelved it until today when I took it to a beachie at high tide 2-3 foot and the thing light up. great paddler and super responsive and seems to generate speed on it's own. Rail to rail surfing at speed on small waves was so fun! Great addition to anyone's quiver just choose the right day to surf it

    Great review. Would you recommend the twice baked or the greedy beaver for someone who tries to transition from mid lenght to shorter board?

      Greedy beaver

    • @kookshed
      @kookshed  4 роки тому +1

      hi mate, yes the Greedy Beaver could work well for that transition, but depending on what length you're after the Baked Potato and Twice Baked could work also due to their stability and high volume. Another one to consider might also be the Machado Creeper if you can find one -KS

      Hi mate
      my go to board is 6'2" Greedy Beaver as a thruster setup. nearly 41L, ultimate paddler and good in all conditions

    Do you think the Rob Machado quads would be good?

    • @kookshed
      @kookshed  4 роки тому

      the Machado quads are great fun!, but the ones i have were designed to compliment the Seaside board, so haven't tried them in the TB yet. but that's not to say they wouldn't work or be fun in this board. it's all down to personal preference really, experimenting and finding what works for you.

    Twice baked or Seaside for East Coast summer surf? Looking for a daily driver that could also hold up when storm swell comes along.

      @kookshed  4 роки тому

      East Coast US or Oz mate? Totally depends on your own personal board preferences and riding style. Seaside could be a nice all-rounder if you like big swallow tails and forward wide point, Baked Twice could be a go-to if you mainly ride 1-3ft mush. Worth mentioning there's a great number of happy Greedy Beaver riders out there too. On a side note, a Hypto Krypto in the right length for you can handle nearly anything you throw at it if you want to make sure you're covered in 1-6ft. Hope this helps -KS

      Should've been more clear, East Coast US. Definitely have seen lots of love for the Hypto Krypto, too. Tricky to find the right board for my conditions/level without the ability to demo like on skis: typically 1-5ft mushy, but frequent storm driven groundswell can make things bigger. I'm edging into intermediate (catching waves, a couple longer turns) and coming off 8'6" Torq type long boards. The hop to a 5'11" seems like it might be a bit more than I can chew off, but I also would like to get a board that's still useful in a few months.

      @@cheesmonster fair enough mate. have you considered a Firewire Greedy Beaver or Walden Compact Disc..? both are excellent for transitioning down to a shorter board and can hold their own under more experienced riders in more challenging conditions too. Worth a look! hope this helps -KS

      @@cheesmonster NY surfer here. The seaside is not really a beginner/intermediate board. You could get away with it if you surface we coast, but to be honest our waves lack the power needed to get the most out of a seaside for your level. I surf a seaside exclusively here but i've been surfing for 20 years. The seaside is an excellent high performance fish, but not a groveler or beginner board. If your dead set on getting a smaller wider board t I'd recommend an average joe, or a chumlee. Friends of mine in your situation have gotten the 7S super fish and had great success progression on them.

    Hi. Is this board wider then the baked potato?

    • @kookshed
      @kookshed  4 роки тому

      hi mate, generally no the Twice Baked is the same width as the Baked Potato in most lengths available, but double check your preferred size on the Firewire website, as some lengths the width has changed (eg- the 5'3" BP is 21' 1/3" whereas the TB is 21' 1/4"

      KookShed nice review! yeah i sold my 5’3 baked potato but i think i might get that one again. I am kind of undecided between the firewire seaside 5’8 and baked/twice potato 5’3

      @@rafael6693 fair enough mate. i guess apart from the obvious difference in boards, it also depends on where you will be riding and your riding style. good luck
