I just ordererd a Neve 88m, wich has the capability of using external hardware via inserts. I think this is the perfect match not only because of its form factor, but for its amazing sound as a bus or even mastering compressor. Nothing to be with plugins. This sounds just real and works on every single sound source. Thank you so much especially for the last take using it as a bus compresor. It's just a game-changer working-class hero of a compressor!!!
Hi there when i use both my unit's now ? the gain reduction meter lights light up fast and sort of hold's themselves slower when turning off any idea why ? like its not quick lights on and off ?
This one boosts low end and about 200hz or so, improving presence, that's in my experience what I got out of it. Different flavors for different purposes. Nothing substitutes another thing
I sing karaoke. I use a dynamic microphone and jbl music speaker. advise which compressor to buy for my purposes? I do not know English well and I translate with a translator)
I almost sold it a while back, when I needed money, glad I didn't. It's not a "clean" compressor by any means, it colors your audio, it sounds good, but it's not "clean" The whole intent of RNLA was to color the sound according to FMR Audio, so yeah
Clean is not exactly good. This "color" are indeed analog harmonics that make the perceived sound louder at lower volumes and in small speakers such as a cell phone ones. In other words... it's magic.
@@thegreatsiberianitch yeah, but not the signal path itself? from the FMR website. “How It's Done The RNC achieves such high performance at a low cost by using using a microprocessor to replace discrete sidechain components (resistors, diodes, capacitors, opamps, transistors, etc) with chunks of software, thereby reducing the component cost. This approach, however, still processes the main audio in the analog domain, avoiding the problems associated with digital audio conversion (e.g., latency, digital artifacts). Even the problem of "scratchy" pots and switches are avoided: no audio flows through the front-panel controls. The front-panel pots and swtiches merely feed DC voltages to the microprocessor and it takes care of adjusting parameters and signal path with components-like sealed-relays and VCAs-located close to the input/output jacks avoiding noise pickup and audio quality reduction due to aging controls! With this blend of technology, the RNC offers the accuracy and precision of digital control with the clean tonal character of an all-analog signal path. The RNC's digital control permits accurate repeatability of your favorite settings.”

It sounds so good! It makes me think going back to analog:-)
Is really nice sounds good and is very versatile. A really nice "clean" compressor.
The best sounding compressior I'd say it could be used for podcasts to for that consistent podcast sound
Thank you. It really helps.
Great on drums 👍

This is undoubtedly a great compressor for the price, but how does it sound compared to high end plugins? Softube, arturia, etc.

This is much better than any plugin if you tweak it correctly. It's difficult to make it sound bad.

IAM waiting on my order just wondering how do you deal with if any volume loss in the input path of the fmr rnla being unbalanced ?
You can just crank the gain. Jokes apart I'm using mine mostly on the send return of my gap preamp (that is unbalanced) when tracking.

@Fernandoorejudo im pretty sure this is a digital compressor.
@@thegreatsiberianitch Isn't it an OPTO compressor ?

They still make these?
yes
Yes and they are one of the cheapest new hardware compressor around
