    Hi Joel my name is Enoch Alcala you sent me a venus fly trap a few days ago thanks to my cousin Ruben maganya and I just have a few questions. If you sent it to me a few days ago would it need dormancy or not. Some stems are drooping is that from stress or something. Some moss fell in the distilled water is that good or bad . Did you feed them when you shipped it to me because most of the traps are closed well that's all of the questions( please answer I'm desperate)

    Could I use osmosis treated water? That's all I have in my home right now, I just got a plant (vft) yesterday and no clue on how to care for it. Also should I always let it sit in water?

    I ordered My plant a few days ago, but I got 2 that were brown. They looked alive but started to crumble after 2 days. I gave them about the same amount of Distiled water (Water bottle Water) but the moss was soaking wet! I gave it new moss and gave it a little bit less. So far I keep it next to my window in Florida. Please help or explain what wrong please! Thank you, and so far Im enjoying your plants.

    My son had to have one of these so we got yours from Amazon. It's been 5 days and now all traps are closed but 1 and 4 traps are now black. I followed your exact potting instructions and it's in a window so do these just not grow in Colorado? My son is heartbroken :(

      dont force feed it.. if the insect is too large it will not be digested and simply rot and then rot the trap. just let them do their own thing..keeping in saucer of rainwater outside in sun, ensuring they never dry out..they are not kids toys..

    I get mixed messages from other VFT videos. Some say to have them in shallow water, but others say that this will cause root rot, and others say to water them from the top and keep the moss moist! At the moment, I am watering mine with distilled water from the top and it's doing just fine, but I'm always open to a better way.

    • @fairuzraz2468
      @fairuzraz2468 3 роки тому

      To have them in shallow water could POTENTIALLY cause a root rot if the water are too much. So,if you're doing this method,please be careful with your water level. Not to much,but not to little.

    Most vids is say they cant be growed in a window sill. Most say they need full sun. So confusing.

    I grow my VFTs (Dionaea) inside and I would rather feed mine dehydrated meal worms or blood worms. Most meal worms I have found are for chickens or birds and seem to have extra nutrients added. Where do you people get your meal worms, or blood worms? Are there special meal worms or blood worms, or will any dehydrated meal worms do?

    • @mrclean8049

      nightlightabcd you can find both blood worms and meal worms at a pet store

  • @mdeimante
    @mdeimante 7 років тому

    Only two people out of the endless search said that you don't need to cool your plant for dormancy. I really hope it's true, because weather in my country gets extremely cold. I'm really stressed about taking good care of this plant because I heard that it dies for many people in the matter of months =(

      Only distilled, RO, or rain water, if you want to know more go to flytrap care forums and my people I know from there are very smart, and we will help you with your unanswered flytrap questions 😁👌

    Why it is important to never allow the dish to dry out completely?

    • @joshuamarshall7927
      @joshuamarshall7927 4 роки тому

      Because the plant will dry out, this plant requires so much distilled or RO water it's almost unbelievably impossible that it would be still alive, I love my Venus fly trap as well, but I didn't order mine from Joel's carnivorous plants I got mine from somewhere online but it's still thriving and doing perfect, I hope you'll do the same!

  • @chriscobb9141
    @chriscobb9141 5 років тому

    With all that water won't the roots rot out? I always thought they were meant to be outdoor plants with full sun light? as that is the way you would find them in the wild. Also if they were kept outside, there would be no reason to feed them, as they would catch their own insects ~ just saying....

    • @suredeydo

      Well if you've watched and LISTENED to the video; you must put them in the fridge to cause dormancy or your plants will eventually die.
