The v8 4th Gen 4 Runner I bought a few months ago finally is getting some attention! In this video, we install a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks and a set of Mamba Offroad M27 Wheels and some 33x11.5R17 Mud Tires!

Amazing how much a 2.5 inch lift and some nice wheels and tires changes the entire Appearance looks so much better
Ditch those running boards it makes a huge difference.

Go to coastal offroad, they have a ton of 4runner weld together kits for this gen.
just got my grandpas 06 crew cab tundra with the 4.7. 486,000 miles, yes MILES original motor trans nothing replaced besides brakes and maintenance and one coil pack. still running perfect and daily driving
The X-reas system sends hydraulic fluid from say the front left to the rear right shock and vise versa so there is less body roll and and truck handles more like a car and not an suv it’s the first thing many 4th gen owners remove.

Taking the running boards off and putting on some rock guards will make another huge difference. Looking great so far.

I used to have an 04, had the v6 but at least it had selectable 4wd. I traded it for a 2016 tacoma that I later sold because they blow ass. I still regret getting rid of the 4runner. This gen was perfect

Nice I was wondering what happened To the 4runner. I didn't know what I was missing until I got my 05 Sadly it got totaled with 212k . Now I have an 08 with 113k and plan to put at least 300k more. Hands down the best all around suv / small truck out there. Most reliable, dependable, capable . Locking center diff it just does whatever you ask it to do .

Also save the diff drop till you go above 3” if lift up front. Save your ground clearance. Then you can run 5th 4Runner axles that are a bit longer or a set of CVJ half shafts.

I think the reason the shocks were connected together is so that the coils would act differently when your level on the road, vs when your flexing on a rock

You need an alignment. The lower control arms adjustments will get you straighter on your camber. If you upgrade to better Struts got with the Bilstein 6112's Shocks over Coil over. Coil overs are a lot of maintenance. The 6112's are amazing and huge bodied strut. Go with SPC Upper Control Arms - 25480 | Front Sway Bar Relocation Kit - 611030 | FJ Cruiser Rear E-Locker | CBI Bumpers | Prinsu Roof Rack | Hood Scoop Hood | Get Energy Suspension Rack Bushings - 8.10106G | Front Strut Mount Bushing - Part Number 9.6104G | Go with Old Man Emu Front 2885 Rear 2895.

I have a GX470 and am super interested in the Aussie locker company called Lokka. It basically locks automatically and is fully mechanical. It’s also like sub $400. Would be cool to see how it works in this Runner
Just spend the money on a manual locker. The auto lockers have to spin the tire first before it locks and at that point it may be too late for the locker to save you anyway.
From 13 mpg to about 9. Looks good though
i think this is a good candidate for a respray with bedliner
I have a coastal off road bumper and love it, if you have the know how or use a local shop to weld it up.
I'm into my 4wds liking the 4runner. Seen a couple people on insta with the prinsu racks for thr 4runners might be worth checking out. Here in australia we're big into 4wd ive got a tubular comp style front bar on my land rover. Will probably go ARB on the patrol as its more of a tourer than hardcore 4wd

toyota also sells a factory TRD supercharger you can put on it relatively easy dude, they run for about 2/3k

Last week picked up 2006 forerunner V-8 Limited runs and rides great 160,000. Not sure what to do with it first. I don’t wanna put that big tires on but I do want to lift.

Personally I think it’d be dope if you rhino lined the body a halo green especially with the bronze wheels and a big o snorkel just for shiggles

How much offset on those wheels??? Doing the same with my 4runner. Put on some 265/70/17s and they rub when I make hard turns. Not sure how much offset I need with new wheels.
Hey Trevor, When did you get this? Cant wait to see this all done up with a paint job. I hope you got rid of a bunch of your othe vehicles, including That white van. You daughter is getting big, She is SO CUTE Dude! So Shat SUV did you buy for Jamie? IO bet whatever it is When your done with it She will love it after your finished doing it all up! First you got to trim the fender wells and give it a bath, because it if pretty damn dirty. it could use a lift kit Give it a bit of clearance and a metal off road bumper.
