Excited for the new season! Older tacos are a really fun choice. The challenges in this were a good watch - it'd be interesting to see concrete numbers for each truck like measurements on an articulation ramp and calculations for the various angles.
Can we just appreciate 3 things 1 Ebay sponsored A WHOLE SEASON *big league bois* 2 James has lost alot of weight clearly taking care of himself since his heart has a glitch 3 Nolan has come SO FAR in being confident and firing off as a entertainer in one off shots... like good for him getting so comfortable on camera when he doesn't have a full presentation script, that's not something alot of people can do!!
This video informed my decision to install Bilstein 5100’s and an Icon AAL. Couldn’t be happier with my decision. It performs well offroad, but more importantly as my daily driver, it drives like a brand new truck, handling corners like a champ, and giving me more confidence behind the wheel. My next suspension upgrade is To replace the shackle hangers with Archive Garage Hammer Hangers, which should give my ride the stability in the rear end I feel is lacking.

With no spring compressor or flying parts, I had it all together safely and without worry.

Honestly, i personally think that this race would only work in an off road Drag Race or something like that cuz the Money Pit E36 rally build probably is gonna be a WRC style Build and we know WRC is about the fastest stage time and the Hi Low tacoma is more of an extreme rock crawling high suspension travel and stuff style of truck
@@rns_nickitoloko_psn5775 Not really rock crawling with a 3 inch lift and that departure angle. 1st gen tacos make pretty cool overlanders, so hopefully they end up going that route since the market is flooded with parts right now. Shipping is gonna be rough though no matter what🤦🏻♂️
The high priced suspension will make the most difference burning through the desert at high speeds for long periods. My guess is that the Icon's will ride significantly better and have very little fade when compared to the Bilsteins. Bilstein makes a very good shock for the price though!

What trim level are they? etc. Didn't even mention what year they are.
100% agreed. Besides just a possible lack of a bedside decal the silver truck looks to be just a base 4wd model while the red one is a TRD with an e-locker.
Right! I have an 01 trd 4x4 with diff lock, I plan on following the cheap build as of suspension with some UCAs, but they really glaze over the specs of the trucks. But super pumped they chose Tacos

These videos are amazing. I have an old 04 Tacoma with a bunch of old off road parts that were added before I bought it used a few years ago. All of them need replacing and I've been looking for months not knowing the differences. Great videos!
As a 1st gen owner myself, I love the fact they're getting more love. James missed one other kind of suspension and that's full blown long travel. Thats what I have on my taco and it makes an even bigger difference in off road performance
I love how this doesn't feel like a UA-cam video. Honestly, the production quality is so high, you could tell me this was a Netflix series and I wouldn't question it.
7:42 A body lift gives your tires more clearance between tire and body when turning or under full compression. A body lift really does help more than just the appearance of being higher.
I came down to the comments hoping that someone had addressed this. Additionally, a body lift can allow for fitment of larger tires, thus creating more ground clearance. Now, I seriously doubt that anyone would suggest that body lifts are in any way superior to a suspension lift (other than typically being extremely affordable), just that they can serve more of a purpose than being purely aesthetic.
They also help keep the center of gravity lower, and less geometry shifting. Though, for what they are doing with it, a body lift would really be more for extra clearance than anything else.
@@explorewithme4707 bro I have a suspension under my bronco and I could either cut up my fenders or use a body lift to clear the 37s. being as it's an older truck and parts are only getting harder to find I went the body lift over cutting. Stop acting like a know it all car guru when clearly your the inexperienced one. Go BUILD a truck or two and get back to me. Paying a shop doesnt count.
Other then running bigger tires for "aesthetics" (how vain) larger tires even just going from 31"s - 33"s makes such a big difference on being able to get over obstacles it really can warrant the use of a body lift. This also applies as someone mentioned to reduce or eliminate rubbing if you don't want to trim fenders.
I had an inkling after the new money pit E36, an offroader would be picked. The First Gen is great. Also you guys need to change the water pump gasket at some point.

I suggest both teams get in contact with a local off-road club and completing one of their beginners off road ‘clinics’ and covering that on the show too. 4 wheeling is a very different kind of driving.
Say your broke without saying it
@@explorewithme4707 bro I have a suspension under my bronco and I could either cut up my fenders or use a body lift to clear the 37s. being as it's an older truck and parts are only getting harder to find I went the body lift over cutting.
