Like you, I played this game like crazy as a kid. Always wished games would be like fable. Just played the anniversary after playing TLC 20 years ago. What a great game. So ambitious.
I played this game so many times back in the day. It was really fun returning to it after so long. I'm tempted to play through the whole trilogy now. Really hoping the one in development actually releases & ends up being great.
Fable II was easily one of my favorite gaming experiences on the 360. Just loved it. Never got around to playing this though. Definitely will give it a shot! Very nice review by the way.
I was unaware. I just read that it was due to Lionhead wanting to portray the demonic possession of the mask. I understand what they were going for, but I don't know if it was necessary.
I got this game with my xbox when I bought it in 2004. This was the start of my love for gaming. Fable is still one of my favourite games until this day. Fable 2 was also very good but never came close to the first in my opinion.
This game and many others around this time period were such fantastic games that today I’m simply left trying to scratch the itch with no substitutes that even come close obviously the graphic department doesn’t seem so great now but that in itself says something about how great they were I still consider this the pinnacle of gaming and I will die on that hill

I absolutely love Fable, and really enjoyed your review. I think the first Fable has the best story and really wish they would go back to the era of heros. I also can't stand the way they changed Jack's voice for the anniversary edition. His voice was perfect as it was. He is also one of my favortie villains of all time, such an amazing character design.
Thank you very much. I completely agree that it has the best story, and it would really be cool to go back to the era of heroes. It would also be cool to see a bit more of Scarlet Robe's (protagonist's mom) story.

FINALLY someone else said it too! I really disliked the change to Jack's voice in Lost Chapters. Me, my dad, and my sisters all played the original a LOT. One day, somewhere around 2007-ish, walking through a thrift store, i go to the games section, to the PC stuff, and there's an unopened Fable: The Lost Chapters, for like $15. My dad bought it for me, and a few hours in, the change to Jack's voice was immediately noticed and disliked by me and my sisters. Otherwise, everything about it was just good fun. I found lost chapters to be way more silly with a lot me going yeah okay game, sure.
Jack is one of my favorite villains, and I really hope he's featured in a future game. Sadly though, I don't think we'll get his old sinister voice. It would have been nice if Fable: Anniversary had offered some sort of toggle for the voice option.
I have play fable one, fable the lost chapter and fable anniversary. for style I would say first fable Jack's voice did sound more sinister. They did change jack of blades voice in lost chapter, more than likely to make sound more demonic.
I don't know where you came from, dude, but this is a great first video to see. Fable is one of my favorite games ever! I really hope Playground Games can get it right when they finally release the reboot.
@@pungentfunk I felt the same way about it but hopefully they pull it off and surprise us when it actually releases. It definitely seemed to lose the charm of the original games. I fear they will be making it too “realistic” when the original art style was part of what made them so great.
Love this review! I played the original Fable when it came out in 2004, but I never got that far into it. I haven't had an Xbox in a long time, but I hope Fable Anniversary plays well on the Steam Deck!
If I remember correctly the Lost Chapters was where they upgraded Jack Of Blades Voice. I'm still gutted to this day they never continued the 'Blades' storyline which was heavily hinted just prior to the release of Fable 2.
im used to new videogames, i struggle playing oldies because of the clunky feel generally, but fable 1 is one of the very few games i go back to, such as fallout new vegas and stalker call of pripyat, fable 1 its a beauty of a game, great video!
I love this game and I’m currently playing the whole trilogy rn , I also like that every protagonist after the first game are the first fable 1 hero’s descendants , I think it adds to all the games being connected too . I also wonder how is the fable 1 hero’s sister in the second game because fable 2 takes place about 500 years after fable 1 . I plan on going the evil side and marrying lady grey .
Same here. I'm very concerned that we didn't really get to see any gameplay after waiting all these years after the initial teaser (on top of an entire console generation with a canceled game).

Canonically, the Hero of Oakvale wouldn't dress as another Hero. Though a fantastic addition, I agree it would much better be suited as loot. That would require much story reworking as you hunted down each Hero (easily done) or witnessed their retirement by other means. For aesthetic, I used the Assassin's Chest Piece with Bandit Head Gear. I wanted to mimic the intro Lionhead character.
Fable, a masterpiece! I remember reviewing the Anniversary years back, my verdict was "Why?" it's a very minor upgrade imo and the original visuals hold nostalgic value, whereas the newer ones do not, and are only mildly "better"
I'm with you. But only time will tell. Though I'm glad I didn't buy an Xbox at the mere announcement this time, as I did with the Xbox One. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if a newer Xbox model releases first.

I recently played through it again for the 5th or 6st time. I played the Anniversary edition and enjoyed it just as much as I did the other times. I really wish they'd port 2 to the PC.
The best way to earn lots of gold in Fable is to become an apple merchant LOL🤣🤣🤣 no seriously. Man after all of these years i still love this game. Other than that a great video keep up the great work👍 And greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱
I've heard that buying & selling goods between traders is the quickest way to earn gold, but I've always collected rent. In the original version it was much easier to purchase all properties with the time freeze glitch.
I really liked fable anniversary only thing I wish they tweaked a bit more would have been the lock on the arrows sometimes you will be locked on a enemy and 3 feet away and your arrow goes the opposite direction, but i actually really loved playing the game you can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into making it a good experience
Yes, this would be great. Characters have always been somewhat customizable with haricuts, tattoos, and outfits, but a little bit more control over the appearance of our Hero would be awesome.
I’m playing it now for the first time in steam deck. It is a fun game I can’t believe it was created in 2004. Even the original looked way better than other games from that time. The gameplay is great I hope fable 4 just improves upon it instead of completely changing it
i played the game when it came out in 2004 and i loved it, i still have my copy of the original game and TLC and i bought Anniversary, Fable 2 and Fable 3. i'm actually replaying the trilogy right now, i'm on Fable 3! a note on Jack's voice though, they actually changed that in The Lost Chapters and ya it made me sad. his old voice just fits so much better. i'm excited for the new Fable though, i know a lot of people are ragging on it but that seems to be the norm these days, to dog pile on a game before it comes out because, hold on * checks notes * one of the characters looks ugly. yup. sounds about right.
I still have my original copy from 2004, as well as 2 and 3. I hope to have time to replay the sequels sometime soon. I hope the new Fable ends up being good, but the fact that gameplay wasn't really shown, especially after waiting all of these years is a little worrying.
Did you know if you add a sharpening augmentation to the Bereaver sword the attack power equals 315. The same stat as the solus great sword. I would usually add the lightning augment so it can be the opposite of the solus great sword. There was a trick to the increase in attack power, you had to either add it in the 2nd or 3rd augment slot.
i would love to see a universal port not just switch I think these console exclusive are an outdated buisness moddel and only hurt the gaming industry far more than it helps one comapny or another
Ive played through the game 5 times. The only other game thay i can say the same for is morrowind. The game is pure fun from beginning to end. Great video.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one who hated the new Jack voice. It just sounds comical. Before he actually sounded intimidating.. now it sounds like they tried to make him sound intimidating.
lol, I know that's more efficient, but it's always the way I've done it. Granted, the first 50 times I played I did have the time freeze glitch (original release).
IMO the jack of blades voice in the remaster was honestly a welcome change. 2004 jack voice : 🤓 did u know hes crowned arena champion? 2014 jack voice: seems deeper and a lot more intimidating.
Why doesn't xbox make cool games like this anymore? We got Halo Infinite, and they took a huge break. They've been saying the games are on the way for the last decade. Finally Starfield will be out soon, but I don't understand how PS is able to push out game after game, while Xbox who's acquiring studio after studio doesn't have hardly any exclusives.
"based on and lovingly parodied by the UK". While yeah, it was very british... It was made in Britain, lead by British Peter Molyneux.. I think it was more a British take on the RPG genre, if anything. You can't parody yourself, it was just literally british humour.
Fable 1, even in 2004, wasn’t all that great. It was underwhelming and didn’t deliver on its promises. I remember being so hyped for it and it was just mid. I don’t understand the people who absolutely love this game and actually have the audacity to call it a masterpiece. In the early to mid 2000’s we had so many bangers releasing and fable just can’t compete imo
The first game is still the best by far. The sequels just became convoluted. Sure guns were a cool concept.. but to me, they took away fromm the game.. rather than added to it. In 3 your weapons evolved as you used them.. why not just be able to customize them? They dropped the ball on 2 and 3 IMO.. they were okay.. but nothing close to the OG.
The og xbox version performs much better in my opinion, i found the 360 version almost unplaybale when there is lots going on like when in bowerstone. Not to mention i feel the og version looks better visually as well.
@@medalgearsalad1419 its not a series x version, it's a 360 version with slightly better performance because of the series x. The problems still exist, just not as bad. The og visuals still look better as well.
@@medalgearsalad1419 the 360 version honestly for how it looks and performs, feels more like a remake and not a remaster. It looks so different, and it plays so different as well. A shitty fuckin remake though
Anniversary lost all the charm of TLC with it's hideously "improved" graphics. The atmosphere was a lot "grimier" and if you look at the original version it possesses an ethereal, dream-like quality that is notable by it's omission here. The menu system is horrendous, the original was fine on PC and it wasn't the worse thing on console. Fable 2 & 3 never happened, the series went downhill very quickly. Then there's that new trailer....ouch.
Who tf makes a review a decade after the game was made? Just make a video about the game if you want but a review is dumb and pointless. It's true Albion is based on the uk. It makes sense. With all the monster, chaos and ugly npcs running around.
@@dannyd4339 It makes you feel good to put others down. Doesn't it? Your insecurity is being directed at others to provide yourself momentary relief. Try more productive ways to make yourself feel happy. I hope you find that.

lol, I know that's more efficient, but it's always the way I've done it. Granted, the first 50 times I played I did have the time freeze glitch (original release).
Faster then my bullet
IMO the jack of blades voice in the remaster was honestly a welcome change.
2004 jack voice : 🤓 did u know hes crowned arena champion?
2014 jack voice: seems deeper and a lot more intimidating.
Weird how I could play this game 20 years ago...but it looks too complicated for me to play it today. (As I get older...I get dumber).😕
I feel like valheim music was inspired by fable
Baby's first rpg , one of the worst games I have ever played it's shit !
"based on and lovingly parodied by the UK". While yeah, it was very british... It was made in Britain, lead by British Peter Molyneux.. I think it was more a British take on the RPG genre, if anything. You can't parody yourself, it was just literally british humour.
Based o the UK, where youre not even allowed to own a knife, let alone sword and bow
'twas a different time
Fable 1, even in 2004, wasn’t all that great.
It's a great game but was definitely oversold.
Such a great game. And now it looks like it’s legacy will be destroyed with the abomination they are currently working on.
Have you tried the Series X version?
@@medalgearsalad1419 its not a series x version, it's a 360 version with slightly better performance because of the series x. The problems still exist, just not as bad. The og visuals still look better as well.
@@medalgearsalad1419 the 360 version honestly for how it looks and performs, feels more like a remake and not a remaster. It looks so different, and it plays so different as well. A shitty fuckin remake though
@@kurrupoppo6937 The Series X version runs at 4K at 60 fps. Def play that version bro.
@@medalgearsalad1419 the og version still looks and performs better
Fable going to the switch is not a good idea cuz they don't know how to run a bunch of other cross console games
Fable
It’s an old game, I never played it and never seen a real review on it. So I appreciate this review
@@Chris-cx6wl 🤡🤡🤡
@@dannyd4339 It makes you feel good to put others down. Doesn't it? Your insecurity is being directed at others to provide yourself momentary relief. Try more productive ways to make yourself feel happy. I hope you find that.
@@Chris-cx6wl nice projecting clown
@@dannyd4339 Do better for yourself; if not, do it for the people in your life. They won't say anything about it until they have enough.
Used to be my favorite game!!
im a simple man, i see a fable review and i watch it
