With that I feel content with my Fable playlist for the time being, there is one other game but I don't know if there's enough substance there to do a video on it but we shall see.
@@PaulRudd1941 I’m so confused about you saying North Korea I don’t get it.. every video game and video not made in North Korea is illigal so I don’t get why you are brining it up here.. please explain what you meant?
Now that you actually do have a Kinect, I’d love to see more of the absolute train wreck that was this era of games. 😂 The Harry Potter one, the Star Wars game, Just Dance and the completely original Kinect Sports (which definitely wasn’t just trying to ride the infinitely superior Wii Sports’ wave of popularity, pls don’t sue Microsoft) If anyone’s going to be a Kinect games historian, who else but Fizhy? 😅
I remember playing this game when it came out originally, though it was never given the love it deserved imo, it will most definitely stay in my heart as one pf my favourite kinect games.
I have a feeling you won’t enjoy this video, that said I can say the story was quite interesting even if the Kinect obstructed me every step of the way
@@Fizhy I honestly experienced that too lol, the only way I found around it was sitting down for a period during my playthrough. Also, so far I find that the video is very well made and I can understand where you come from.
do you know if it's possible to get this working decently well and consistently? i used to have the game and a kinect so if it works well i might have to find it again or buy it again
I really loved the story in this one as well, but the Kinect was the Kinect what did anyone expect. I do recommend anyone watching the cinematics if they want to finish their Fable binge. It works well that way
I was always curious about the game, but once I heard it was a Kinect game, that curiosity faded fast. Motion controls are just kinda sucky to me as a person with chronic pain.
Well, I gotta respect someone willing to go this far for a retrospective- Plus i love fable- Subscribed. Looking forward to having another brit on my watchlist
I remember when this game came out; I was so excited. I’d been a crazy fan of the Fable franchise since a young child when I first ever played Fable (1) … sadly this is the only game I’ve ever played in my life that I just COULDNT finish. Not for lack of wanting to but genuinely I just could not continue playing. It made me so upset not being able to play a game from a franchise that was so dear to me. I will always hate the developers for not implementing an option to just use a controller or rereleasing it for just the controller. I just could not get on with playing with the Kinect, my room was tiny and had no space literally every 15 seconds the game is being interrupted because it couldn’t find me or I just literally couldn’t move because the Kinect wasn’t registering my movements. To this day it haunts me not having played this game🤣🤣🤣 Let’s hope the new instalment of Fable will be playable 🤞🏼 whenever that will be
I think it was just ahead of its time. As someone who's had a VR headset, it would be perfect for VR, I'd buy a new headset again just to play this game in VR.
My cousin is severely mentally challenged and can entertain himself with almost anything. He hated this game. My aunt had to take it away because it was making him so frustrated.
Maybe it’s because I was such an avid Skyrim player at the time but when this game was coming out, I was really intrigued by the premise. The idea of you travelling across the land with just you, your horse and your carriage where you kept all your wares really intrigued me and I remember at the time being very disappointed you couldn’t have your own carriage in Skyrim - in hindsight I realise why that wouldn’t have worked for that game but I digress. The point being that the idea and aesthetic that I think this game was going for really spoke to me and if it was on anything but the Kinect, which even at the time I remember being as rabid as a Luddite in hating the idea of it, I would probably have bought it and probably gotten a lot out of it. Since it’s release though, even setting the Kinect’s dogshit controls aside, the gameplay looked like the definition of mid, the world was uninteresting, the quests/combat were unengaging and even the main story wasn’t that much to write home about. It was just a jumbled, confused, self-contradictory mess that didn’t know what it wanted to be and proved beyond a doubt that the Fable franchise was dead, with its leadership at the time at least. A sad ending for what was once such a great franchise. As for me, I eventually found out about actually decent carriage mods in Skyrim anyway so my itch was scratched in that sense. 🤣
I was listening to this while I was asleep, and woke up half confused bc all I heard was 'combat carriage driving' and I wondered what side of youtube I was on for a good 30 seconds.
I remember trying to play this game when it came out... I had a very physical demanding job at the time, so when I came home, the last thing I wanted to do was keep moving my entire body (I worked at a vet clinic/boarding facility). Anyway! I only got as far as pulling the stick out of the horse's shoulder before I called the game "quits" I hated that I kept hurting the horse when I was trying to help him, and mostly I made it worse. ;_;
So I actually did play this Fable game. I played it through exactly 1 time and got the achievement for never taking damage. Made me laugh so hard I did that accidentally without even knowing it was an achievement!
Look okay, I got half way through the campaign when it first released before I threw out a shoulder and never returned to it again... its still a fable ip game God damnit!
The Kinect might not be the best for gaming but in the AV world we use it for a lot. Actually all the interactive wand stuff at universal studios works with the Kinect
do you reckon you'd give it another shot if for example someone figure out how to mod it (or if playground games remade it such) so either it functions better, or just straight up uses a controller instead?
Man I was trying to get my mum to buy me a kinect when I was a kid, just for this bloody game. I beggggged, little did she know she saved me from ruining one of my favourite franchises with this pile o poop hahaha. Thanks for suffering for my enjoyment!
Lionhead worked on Project Milo to showcase the Kinect. Then they were forced to integrate it into a game. On top of being urged to release more Fable content. This is why Fable IIi was rushed, why The Journey was even more rushed and why they released a couple other garbage games after. If left alone, they could have made great games like the first two. Molyneux is a huge conman, he loves to make ambitious claims. But he still knew how to make great games. This was not a game he wanted to make.
All these motion controlled games really were a failed experiment designed to desperately grab a hold of that mass market of non-gamers who purchased Wii's as novelty toy's to put next to their entertainment systems and blueray players. The Wii succeeded at what the 3DO and CDI wanted to be on accident, the dream of a miscellaneous home entertainment device was alive again, and everyone was scrambling to get a piece of the pie. Thing is the market didn't exist. Grandma and grandpa, and the mr executive douchebro had no interest in buying more motion controlled toys, and once the fad had died down, neither did anyone else.
The story of the game isn't bad, the characterization's are good, and the concept of traveling across Albion while on horseback/a carriage is a pretty neat idea that can work for a side game. It's just a shame they tried to make it work with a Kinect. No one wants to use a Kinect. Your arms must be sore after each session, constantly waving them about and holding them up for no reason other than Microsoft are assholes trying to incentivize that stupid device.
I find it so weird Xbox arguably did the whole camera irl gameplay stuff right before Playstation and then just didn't improve or capitalise on it. While it had awful games I remember the kinect and dancing games to be so fun. It seemed like when they ventured outside of those the kinect was shit but it could have been improved on. Now Xbox won't even consider VR and Playstation are just taking over that market console wise. Sorry for that ramble, it's just a weird thing I always think about. After this one will you do a video talking about the cancelled Fable game that was supposed to be multiplayer Fable Legends? Understandably there might not be much to talk about but it could be interesting hearing your thoughts from the limited stuff we do have.
@@Fizhy Fair enough. I used to be really against VR due to thinking I couldn't use it because of my eyesight, but it really is something else. If you ever get a chance to try it out without having to buy a headset (or if you can find a Quest 2 for super cheap) I'd absolutely give it a go.
Okay, I watched this for about 6 minutes when I came to say this. When you were using the cart, you were doing it wrong. Cracking the reins constantly is for full speed, pulling your hands back for slow speed and cracking the reins once gives you normal speed. Getting angry about a mechanic YOU got wrong just annoyed me. Sorry, but I had to say it. BTW: when steering you don't wave your arms about like a wild animal, for example: hold out two fists and keep your arms straight and pull back your left fist and push out your right fist to steer left, and vice versa.
