I own one pair of loafers and rarely wear them for lack of styling ideas. I felt like a super motivated student in class and appreciate the lesson. Thank you!
Nobody does it like you: take one piece and try to style it in a lot of different ways, try to pair it with anything you got. Those are my favorite kinds of videos. And again, really well done and so helpful. Thanks a lot!!
I wore penny loafers in the 80’s as my uniform. Loved them. I wore the classic GH Bass ones and am glad they still make them. I added three pairs last year and am loving wearing them again. I love a preppy classic Ralph Lauren vibe that mixes preppy, classic, and western.
You already KNOW I’m all over this video! Look 4: Crisp white shirt, mid wash cropped denim, chunky loafers… that’s my go-to look! Layering a blazer or a nonchalant chunky knit over the shoulders as we move into autumn. Cant wait to see the next video with trousers. I’m really into my wider leg trousers at the moment. Especially with a more fitted top for some contrast. I’m feeling my autumn uniform will consist of lots of fitted crewnecks, trousers, loafers, and playing with my accessories to add interest.
haha hiiii YES - you are a consistent source of inspiration for me! Love your addition of the chunky knit over the shoulders - the fitted crewnecks + trousers is such a classic uniform - I am loving your fall looks!
Yay! ❤ Loafers (& oxfords). These are all perfect variations of a style uniform. It was so helpful to see the side by side outfits and the explanation of why one version didn’t work as well. Sometimes I like to wear my loafers with a brightly colored sock to add playfulness, but I find it can be tricky to pull off without feeling like you’re advertising your ankles, lol.
Thank you for featuring this classic shoe! I have multiple loafers, they’re not “chunky” nor do they have any embellishments so they feel “in style” no matter what trends come and go. Great lesson on proportions and how to get the most out of them! Side note, best score ever on thrifted footwear was a pair of Tod’s like new black patent leather loafers 😂
Thank you, I'm really struggling to style my loafers. I almost put them up for sale online this week! But my partner talked me out of it because they are so classic. I'm looking forward to part two.
Love, love, love my La Canadienne Reese loafers - chunky yet beautiful and comfortable. Have trekked all over Germany in them. First pair was a patent midnight blue (still going strong); second pair is classic black leather. I pair them with cropped jeans/pants and ankle socks or no-show mule socks, and knee highs with boot cut jeans, skirts and shorts. Highly recommend and very much enjoyed your video, Alyssa.
I have backless mule style loafers so this was very helpful. The only look I didnt like was when you styled them with the longer wide jeans until... you added the tan jacket !
I’m applying your fabulous ‘elements of style’ principles to these examples. What works or doesn’t work in many of these examples is subject to your 3 style words, body silhouette and colour preferences. Great ideas that I will tailor to my own preferences.
A few years ago I met a bespoke shoe designer and ended up with two loafers (baby blue suede, military green oiled canvas) and an ox blood wingtip style oxford mule. They are absolutely gorgeous and hardly worn because I have always been a kitten heel pump or ballerina flat girl. So my excitement for this video is high. As always, delivered with style, knowledge and options! Thank you 🙏🏻 tomorrow is a loafer day!
This video was something what I needed!! Last month I bought my first pair of loafers and I can’t wait to get them with some of your outfit ideas!! I’m looking forward to seeing next part!! Best wishes from Poland!
Another very insightful video! Thank you Alyssa. I really appreciate how much time, effort and thought you put into your videos. I always leave them feeling inspired!
Thank you, Alyssa, for this loafer jean video. I wish you'd do a loafer video in which you contrast loafers (such as you modeled here), w/ sleek loafers like, for example, the Hermes, or Same Edleman ones etc.
aw, i love this. i have a pair of vintage patent leather black loafers i found on ebay a few years ago. Made so well, and comfy. You've inspired me to get them out again! Always trying to get more ideas to implement with what i already own. Thanks for the ideas.
Ohhh as an owner of about 8-10 pairs of loafers (that only get worn with jeans) I’m super excited for your next video including skirts and trousers!! ❤ another great video
Thank you! This is very timely. I've been meaning to get some loafers for a while now; not tooo masculine, not tooo heavy - and of course, comfortable, wide with a slight heel. I love the look of loafers with a nice button shirt like you're wearing, and I liked that you mentioned the flare leg looks great with them and i love your pointing out the softer blouse with that. Your hair looks so pretty, Alyssa! Hi from Surrey!
Loved your video. I own a pair or two of chunky loafers and often pair them with wide leg trousers. They give me height and are comfortable to walk in. I liked your suggestion of a brown loafer. Mine are all black, but adding a brown would be an interesting addition to my footwear collection.
Thank you SO much for this video and for breaking down all the things to consider for different styles of jeans! Please do a video on pairing jeans with trainers next - I find it so tricky to stop that pairing from feeling really sloppy/casual, so tips on elevating it would be wonderful! Xx
I have a pair of Burgundy Penny Loafers and up to now did not know how to style them. Thanks for all the tips. Looking forward to how you will style them with Skirts.
This was so timely - I love the idea of loafers but often feel like they are too masculine when I’m styling them. Love the ideas in this video for bringing in balance. Looking forward to part 2 👌
Great video as always. I have several pairs of loafers and am so glad to put them in the rotation. I wear a lot of denim so it was great to start there. I am adding more dressy pants so the next video will help a lot. Never know what socks to wear so your tip helps
Soooo helpful to have to spelled out. Sometimes you can feel a loafer isn’t quite working with certain jeans but now I know why. It was nice that you pulled socked into play as well! 👏
This was so helpful to see, especially with the examples of what not to do! Would love to see more videos like this for other shoes and clothing items❤
So informative Alyssa thank you! I have a pair of Sezane black loafers which I really love but for some reason hardly wear. Your tips and explanations have been so helpful thank you!
Btw I adore my driving shoes-they give the chunkiness and more masculine edge but lighter. I love the flexible sole-so comfortable. It’s rarely cold enough here to set aside my Earthrunners sandals but I always look forward to wearing the driving shoes.
AHA! Now I understand why I felt frumpy with my loafers. Got rid of them, thinking it was the style and not my vibe. While I love lug sole Chelsea boots with pencil skirts, thanks to your video, I shall give loafers another try. Thanks Alyssa!
This was helpful and I have lovely loafers that I’m challenged with styling so thank you! Styling of loafers with the cropped jeans is definitely only flattering for tall and skinny bodies. Would not help to elongate shorter, curvier bodies.
Don’t really wear denim, but I love the way you did one side styled well and the other side not so well. It really showed the contrast. Fascinating lesson in style thank you. Looking forward to the next one on regular trousers.
The only outfit I liked is the one you didn't like, the all slick dark/black on dark/black with the scarf, but maybe a different scarf! Hahhahahaaa... It is always interesting and fun seeing how different style is from one person to another.
I wish I had seen this when it came out. I was out of town and my weekend outfit was consisted of loafers, loose jeans and the choice of a button down top with tank top underneath and a white tee with a cardigan.i could have cuff my jeans to make it more interesting… I love loafers and lace up oxfords
I have two types of loafers. My style is often classic but I do have some undone looking outfits so I wear the treaded ones then vs the lower profile leather Bottom loafer.
Excellent video! Loafers are my favorite shoe and Classic is absolutely my style. I appreciate the styling options to give my "almost too classic" wardrobe some flair. :-)
I love loafers. Haven’t found a pair that fit my wide toe box and high instep. I am still looking, though. Comfort is key. I love wearing loafers with a plaid skirt that is A line, but knee length. Also love loafers with my dress trousers, too! Great video!
With Xmas party season coming up please do a video for ideas how to go from day to evening, office to night out, without a complete change of outfit. Thanks. X
Can you please make a video on styling collars. Like when to wear your collar up or down(like you have in this vid), different layering styles(oxford, quarter zips, topcoat), etc. haven’t seen a vid on this yet. Thanks
My marc o'polo loafers are soft as butter on the inside but structured on the outside. They also come in half sizes. No blisters from the start.

Great video! But out of the gate first lesson I learned is you bought brown patent leather loafers when you own/wear so much black! I had to really think about that one.
I love these! Only one i wasnt crazy about was red button up shirt it with the cropped jeans threw me off a bit.. it looked a little of place and thrown together..The socks..eh.. everything else I love!
I have never encountered any problems styling loafers😊 The cowboy boots are the trickiest ones for me in terms of footwear styling, thought. For some reason, all the influencers keep on promoting them, it is utterly frustrating 😢
Where are your super dark wash flare jeans from? Oh my gosh I've been searching high and low for denim with that silhouette!! You look gorgeous and I love your channel ❤
I really enjoyed this video and I learned a lot. If you can, would you share the brand of that beautiful coral/red button up shirt? Thanks again for the great video.
My 3 style words are: utilitarian, rustic and androgynous and while my style does not include a lot classic or preppy items, I do love wearing my thrifted Vagabond loafers as “the wrong shoe”. I pair them with prairie dresses and cargo / army trousers to create a more interesting and look!
Sadly I had no ‘’don’ts’ when it came to wearing my leather navy and black loafers this past winter. They are so comfy that I neglected all other footwear including my boots when it came to my trousers. I would wear sneakers with my jeans but the loafers won on comfort as they are several years old and look good and feel amazing.
Another great post! I'm going to watch it a few more times to solidify the ideas. Thanks Alyssa! BTW, I'm older and have white hair at the front and grey at the back, bit as long as yours, but below shoulder length. Would you still recommend a black loafer or dark grey?
I have salt 11:52 and pepper hair with (natural) bold white streaks in the front and darker hair at the black and I love pairing medium grey Superga trainers with my light blue jeans for a bookend effect. It’s my casual effortless weekend combo. My neutrals are black and navy so those are the loafers I have but I have had a pair of grey ankle boots for years that I pair with outfits like burgundy cords.
I own one pair of loafers and rarely wear them for lack of styling ideas. I felt like a super motivated student in class and appreciate the lesson. Thank you!
Oooh yay! I'm so glad!

Defining loafers and drivers was so helpful
I like this style video of yours the best! I like when you talk through, and show examples of what works and why.

woooah that is a great score!
sooooo timely!!! I love the loafer and jean look and the focus on casual is a PLUS! Thank you
I’m in my comfortable + practical shoe era … and I am here for this content 😂😍🙏🏽
amazing! Glad it helped!
Missed your Sunday video, so I was really happy to watch this one....and I just love loafers!
Thank you, I'm really struggling to style my loafers. I almost put them up for sale online this week! But my partner talked me out of it because they are so classic. I'm looking forward to part two.
Same! I bought an amazing vintage pair because “so versatile!” But haven’t used them much - will now!
Yes! I love styling videos for loafers! I don't know what it is about them but I find myself struggling to style them
time to show off my sock collection. i love the look of the loafers with the cropped pants.

Even though I'm more of a skirt-and-blouse gal and hardly use my jeans, I live in loafers. Thanks for sharing!

I love the way that you styling loafers with flare jeans and put a classic blouse to complete the look! Brava ❣😊🙏
Love this deep dive type of video

Bespoke?😄
@@BrandiKat made for me with foot measurements and I got to choose the fabric, colors, heel height - hence the wingtip style mule 😉.

Never thought a loafer would look good with flair jeans but it’s my favourite way you styled them.
Another very insightful video! Thank you Alyssa. I really appreciate how much time, effort and thought you put into your videos. I always leave them feeling inspired!
thank you so much, that means a lot!
So much insight on why certain of my outfits feel better than others. And I really appreciated the lesson on how to spot good quality in a 👞
I just bought a pair of loafers and love this video! Thank you
Thank you, Alyssa, for this loafer jean video. I wish you'd do a loafer video in which you contrast loafers (such as you modeled here), w/ sleek loafers like, for example, the Hermes, or Same Edleman ones etc.

Love all my loafers! My go to is Def showing the ankle!
Thanks Alyssa, this is very helpful. I’m looking forward to Part 2.

Looking forward to how you will style them with Skirts.
Great, informative video! Really appreciated the discussion and examples of proportions using similar items
This was so timely - I love the idea of loafers but often feel like they are too masculine when I’m styling them. Love the ideas in this video for bringing in balance. Looking forward to part 2 👌
Love this video Alyssa. Shoes so often make or break an outfit so its great to see various options for styling a chunkier shoe.
I've just got a new (to me) pair of brown loafers, so this is really great - plenty of ideas for how to style them! Thank you!
I have some medium brown loafers. You’ve given me some good styling ideas. Plan on buying another pair but can’t decide on black or mahogany.
I so need this mini series!!! Thank you!
I loooooove loafers!!! ❤❤❤
Great video as always. I have several pairs of loafers and am so glad to put them in the rotation. I wear a lot of denim so it was great to start there. I am adding more dressy pants so the next video will help a lot. Never know what socks to wear so your tip helps
Wonderful tips on how to style loafers. I have always struggled with proportion with these. Thank you!
Great information! I love loafers and the styling you created looks impeccable! Thanks for the advice.
Love your style❤ i love the vintage Eastland and Bass loafers.

So informative Alyssa thank you! I have a pair of Sezane black loafers which I really love but for some reason hardly wear. Your tips and explanations have been so helpful thank you!
Great Video, I find loafers difficult to style because of the blob at the bottom of the leg effect (you nailed it)!
Btw I adore my driving shoes-they give the chunkiness and more masculine edge but lighter. I love the flexible sole-so comfortable. It’s rarely cold enough here to set aside my Earthrunners sandals but I always look forward to wearing the driving shoes.

love to hear this!
I’ve been waiting for this video!!! Thank you!
Goodmorning from Athens Greece. I am happy for the outfit of wide leg jeans and loafers. I will try them.
Thank you this is awesome, can't wait for part 2 🙂
Great video! Love my loafers and now will love them even more!
I really like the cuffed jeans with the loafers

I love this video! How about classic derby shoes, despite laces; would you style them similarly?
