- This is the Kinzhal hyper sonic missile which means "Dagger" in Russian!
attached to a Mig 31 Foxhound,as you can see it can carry only one missile.
or it can also be fitted to carry 6 missile, ready to launch from the Tupolev 22 bomber
It consists of around 7 basic parts and we will be also looking into the Interiors of what it might look like from the Propulsion to the warhead.
And not to forget the basic step-by-step process of how the missile might work from platform launching to the delivery of payload.
But the main question is it really a Hypersonic Missile ? stay tuned and we will let you decide.
But what is a hypersonic missile?
A hyper sonic missile is any projectile that travels at 5 to 25 times the speed of sound
That is Mac 5 above.
These missiles are extremely fast and far harder for surface-to-air missile defense systems to target Like the Patriot missile.
And they should also be able to travel Zic Zac or random paths to confuse radar tracking.
There are many kinds of Hypersonic Missiles like the American air Breathing Scram jet or the AGM Arrw still under testing that cost a Whooping $15 million or more for one missile.

I've seen the video of the Patriot firing 30 missiles in 20 seconds, but still got destroyed by the Kinzhal.

1. Iskander is a single stage missile definitly, it has an inseparable warhead, seems like as a Kinjzal. So all maneuvrs does by main engine and main fins all the flight, and near a target too.
2. Mig-31BM can travel up to 2.8M speed on high altitude.
3. Max STATIC altitude of Mig-31BM is 21,5km (with full combat payload), dynamic - up to 30km.
4. Grid fins become ineffective on speed higher than 1km/s. Iskander definitly hasn't grid fins, likely as Kinjzal.
So, if you launch ground 500km-range missile (at least 4M from ground, either it can't flight 450-500km even by optimal ballistic trajectory) from altitude 20km and speed like 2.5M - it can accelerate to hypersonic speed about 10M like piece of cake. What is a doubt on it? A, it's just eternal western propaganda about bear-stupid and incapable russians...

1. Dual-mode solid state engines can burn all the flight. As Iskander's engine definitly, 48N6 heavy anti-aircraft missile's engine, and lots of other. Gas-dynamic control provides this maneuvers for high trajectories/long range missiles.
2. Mig-25 and Mig-31 have a VERY different engines, by the way. Educate yourself first.
3. You can excogitate all you want, but reality doesn't change. Even older mid-range ballistic missiles are still very difficult targets for air defence, so if such a missile can make unpredictible maneuvers, it becomes an impossible target. Ecpecially for incapable western ground 'air defence'. Ask for a 'Patriot' battery in Kiev. We are waiting for the hyped, but never tested in battle THAAD for another epic failure.

Why didn't you mention Kinzhal flight path and how it attains the speed of hypersonic? after the missile was released from its carrier at around 18.000 meters altitude and at more than Mach 1 speed, it would ignite the engine and then Climbed higher to the stratosphere after a certain period of time the missile would re-enter and dive towards the designated target with normal missile trajectory while engulfing itself in plasma through sheer speed which granted it a little bit of stealth, that is just the open information that you could even read in wikipedia

mig31k max speed is 3000 km/h mach 3, It was limited at this speed due security reasons, its precesedor mig25 was limited at 3500km/h but in test flights it did reach +3700 km/h. Mig25/31 are the fastest fighter planes ever.

Well, I googled a bit, that American scramjet can only run at above mach 4, it doesnt even reach mach 5 during testing in 2019. In 2021, they reported that hypersonic is here because they succesfully break mach 5. It is far below your 15-18 mach claim.

Hahaha, where did you hear that? The Kinzhal flies at the same speed as many other ballistic missiles. The US has shown many times that ballistic missiles are able to get shot down. There are numbers of videos here on UA-cam showing it. What makes a hypersonic missile difficult to intercept isn’t its speed, but that it can maneuver. The Kinzhal hasn’t shown this capability. Otherwise, like any ballistic missile it’s flight path can be easily projected and intercepted.

But you have a very rough mistake: Russian missiles like Iskander/Kinzhal type have no 2nd or 3rd stages, and they are only one stage system with a solid propellant rocket engine, that's is the very big difference. And also there are not illustrated any tail wings that are near the exhaust nozzle, to make different maneuvers of this missile. In that case with that big speed even a destroyed rocket can make a lot of damage with exploded parts, and even just by kinetic strike by the target with out any warheads on..

It did not down it. There is 0 evidence of this claim and Ukrainians are notorious liars about achievements of their army. Do you remember the "Ghost of Kiev" ?? What happened in reality was : they put a Patriot battery in the city between civilian buildings (Ukr tradition) ..and when they found out Kinzhals are heading their way they just emptied whole battery in to the air so they mitigate the size of explosion after hit. Look at it this way. Kh-47M2 is a missile capable of breaching trough the entirety of layered air defense thanks to it's speed, and only then, in the shortest section between the missile and it's target, it slows down, turns on the seeker and hits. Let’s say this happens at a distance of 10 km, meaning that missile punched trough layered air defense before that distance and is now slowing down to activate seeker. How many air defense systems do you need to repel such an attack? What is the density of fire that is needed to be sure? In other words, how many hundred millions of dollars you are willing to waste on just one missile? Will the crew have time to react if there is only less than 10 seconds to react? And what if dozens more cruise missiles were sent earlier, so that they would reach the same area at the same time?
I think that's the best way to describe what it does, and why it doesn't really matter if it is truly hypersonic or not. It is by it's nature hypersonic weapon, yes. But it's not entirely hypersonic in that regard.
Gladly, there is a Zircon missile with a true scramjet to end all debates about hypersonic nature of missile. If Kh-47M2 is only hypersonic until it can reach shortest distance with it's target, Zircon - will hit it on a full speed.

The images that Ukraine released of the downed missile clearly show that is was a gliding bomb, not a Kinzhal. Not sure why you would mention this in your video considering it was basically just a rumor.

It is important to mention than in addition to consider Mach 5 hypersonic there’s also a chemical reaction happening creating a boundary of heat.
The hypersonic regime can also be alternatively defined as speeds where specific heat capacity changes with the temperature of the flow as kinetic energy of the moving object is converted into heat.

But reaching hypersonic flight envelope does not qualify a platform as a "hypersonic weapons". There is only two types. Hypersonic glide vehicles & hypersonic cruise missiles. Both are able to maintain hypersonic speeds under their own power(not just terminal phase), for extended periods of time INSIDE the atmosphere. While ALSO being able to maneuver.
@@jdogdarkness I think that Is irrelevant if used as a standoff munition compared to get the desired effect at a cheap cost that allows to get more units on the battlefiel for less resourses. If they they have focused on developing the characteristics you have mentioned they couldn't have fielded the weapon on time. Sorry that is utterly absurd. Of course "it matters." The Kinzhal is an air-launched ballistic missile. ALL (as in, including the fucking V-2) ballistic missiles are "hypersonic" in that regard. However, a hypersonic CRUISE MISSILE would be far harder to detect and destroy given its non-ballistic trajectory and the fact it doesn't exit the atmosphere. Stop squirting stupidity and confusing people that don't know any better.
US has a lot of catching up to do. Btw- the Patriot systems did not intercept a Kinzal, contrary to what was stated in this video and by Ukrainians. Patriot was never designed for intercepting these types of projectiles. Also the Kinzal has been used very sparingly leaving little opportunity for any any defense system to learn and adapt. Meanwhile I read that China also is on par when it comes to hypersonic technology.
The US is constantly developing technologies and weapons that would be able to counter Russian and Chinese weapons. And the USA does not publicly say what kind of weapons and technologies it would or could use to counter Russian and Chinese weapons. And you'll never know what missiles were used to counter Kinzal.

Патриот конечно попал кинжал , но нюанс в том что сделал он это либо своим радаром либо пусковой установкой, в зависимости от того куда этот кинжал влетел)
радаром, конечно, никто не будет сраную пусковую разменивать на кинжал) минобороны всё по уму делают - запускают по установкам калибры, а кинжал по радару. В принципе можно было бы и одними калибрами перенасытить патриот, но калибров тогда нужно больше, а Кинжал не особо дорогой, да и покупателям надо продемонстрировать) Китайцам доставило, попросили им таких прислать в обмен на деньги.

The ability of the Kinzhal to steer in flight is conjecture only. Many knowledgeable people say that it cannot steer itself and is just like a ballistic missile. I do not know either way.

From the limited data we have, it looks like it uses a retro-rocket steering system. It blasts jets of propellant out of the sides, up, down, left, and right. The speed is too fast to use the very small winglets as control surfaces. Just my observation, and definitely not verified.

I believe the missile do not have warhead separation. It is not a ballistic missile, no reason to discard the tail at all. Even when the rocket engine burnout it can still work as a hypersonic glide vehicle.
It is called hypersonic because the air compression generating plasma in front of the missile, that produces a barrier that absorbs all kinds of electromagnetic waves. It should be invisible to radar. If the missile remains hypersonic all the way until hitting the target, it would mean that it is flying blind - because it cannot have camera or radar on board, which is how the missile is speculated to work using satellite positioning (before it goes above mach 5) and rely totally on inertial guidance after that point. That is using the change in inertia alone within the missile to calculate its current location. It is said to have 10m error which is fairly inaccurate as a precision weapon.
The "ballistic missile" can be shot down is based on the fact that a ballistic missile do not have hypersonic speed during the terminal phase, or there will be no guidance at all (as thermal camera, radar or radio communication etc cannot function when the plasma is still in front of it).
Everything points to a conclusion that the thing is unstoppable with current technology, but it have limits.
