There is no "old school Eminem". "Old school rap" is the term for REALLY old rap music from the late 70s and very early 80s. It has a distinctive flow, which was much simpler, than anything that came later. Also the styles of the different MCs from that early era of rap music were very similiar to each other. Eminem is from the late phase of the so called "golden age" of rap (late 80 to early 2000s). So there is nothing "old school" about Eminem, as there have been rap records for about 20 years already, when he released his first album. I understand that you young folks of today call EVERYTHING "old school", which came out before you were born or before you became interested in something, but "old school rap" has a very specific meaning within the history of rap music. Trust me, I've been into this subculture called hip hop since it became a thing...

Thank Prince for that! He bothered Tipper Gore so much with the lyrics to his song Darling Nikki where he talks about a woman masturbating in a hotel lobby and then them going to her room to fuck. She bought the CD for her 11 year old and heard the lyrics and made a major deal out of it, that's how the Parental Advisory label came about! XD

One of his most controversial songs was Kim, where he sings about killing his ex. All these feminine groups were up in arms, talking about how horrible he was. I saw an interview Eminem did and he based a lot of lyrics and storytelling on past life experiences. He would think of a verse, write it down and then keep in in a box he kept at home. Eminem will definitely come after you if you annoy him...LOL....he's the GOAT when it comes to the flow of his jams.

Utter brilliance that's still funny and witty today.
The whole comic book visual style of the clip is a riff on the '60s comedy TV show Batman, which itself had a comic book visual style . He's dressed as Batman's sidekick Robin, the Boy Wonder, kind of a reference to the way he was perceived at the time.
The whole tv show was high camp with lots of guest appearances/cameos from big stars of the day. He even does a little musical reference to the Batman theme when he sings " n.a. n.a. n.a. n.a. n.a. n.a. n.a. n.a...."
One of the catch phrases in the tv series, which he references a number of times, is " ...this looks like a job for Batman..." Much of the action in the TV series features the Batmobile. In the clip he and Dre are like Batman and Robin in the Batmobile.
Do yourself a favour and watch the TV series. It was groundbreaking at the time with the high camp humour and Pop Art/comic book aesthetic.

I think that girl in trunk is from his song Stan. It's Stan who put his girl in the trunk. The urban word "Stan" being unreasonably fascinated in an unhealthy way with a celebrity or person. That's why we say I "Stan" for this person"I Stan" for that person

I was 10 years old listening to Eminem and my two brothers were younger than me and we would blast his music while we played Mario kart double dash in 2004 😂 we live just south of detroit so every parent was like Eminem? He’s from detroit so it’s cool. Everyone at school listened to him. and when my mom heard the lyrics she was just like oh.. you probably shouldn’t hear that but too late now lol she heard mockingbird first and thought it was okay

People been trying to cancel em since his first album. "Have you ever been hated and discriminated against? I have, I've been protested and demonstrated against. Pickett signs for the wicked rhymes.." he had every group in america coming after him lol
Edit: watch the video for White America, he talks about how he came onto the scene in that song

It made sense at the time that they tried to sensor him. When he came out he attacked everyone that was big at the time, Britney, Christina, Limp bizkit, Everlast, politicians. Talked about killing, homosexuality, all the opposite of what anyone was writing. Rappers were all about money, clothing and chicks at that time. Manson was getting huge for how off the wall he was but he was mainly anti-religious and not near as big of a genre that what Eminem was in. Times changed fast when Em came out.
