Eminem wrote this whole track originally for Dre and Snoop. Snoop didn’t want to. So Eminem wrote the part for his self
Dre said on the Defiant Ones that he liked Em's vocals on the reference track so much that he didn't even tell snoop
@@bigstevie1690 That's what I heard Dre say in 3 different interviews. Em wrote it with Snoop in mind, but Dre liked how it sounded on Ems reference track and kept it
@Mike Mike STFU
@Mike Mike i agree. but i dont think hes that dumb, unfortunately
I had heard that before that Em wrote the whole song but i never knew snoop didn't wanna be on it but I'm glad it turned out hard as fuck with Slim on it
When you realize this video is *22yrs* old damn do I feel *OLD!*
right
same - senior citizen status
yep and still nothing better since then
I’m right there with you….❤️
Man. I was feeling myself earlier until I realized how old this song is watching Asia's cute self trying to sing it. This was the SHIT in our day though. Bet she can't backwards skate. lol
Eminem says that he always hired child actors to portray Hayley, to protect her identity. Except for a few home movies when she was a baby
22 years and I legit still know every word to this song 🤣
Song legit. Eminem a bitch now
Right. I can’t walk out of the room and remember what I was doing. But every. Single. Word. 😂
@@nonyabuiz3605 Haha why is this so accurate? Haha
Snap!!!
came out in 99
That Will Smith line was 🔥 🔥 🔥.. 🤘🏻
Hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Will smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records ...
"Don't come around with those flawed raps trying to stunt compare me to meek big Wheelies (Willy's) get popped"
“Forgot About Dre” was released as the second single from Dr. Dre’s 2001 album, and it was his statement to anyone feeling like his production suffered after his escape from Death Row in 1996. Eminem not only features on the track, he also wrote almost all of the lyrics, including the majority of Dre’s verses. This is rather obvious given the rapid flow, jam-packed with multisyllabic assonance-a marked departure from Dre’s usual style
"Hated on by most these niggas
With no cheese, no deals and no G's
No wheels and no keys
No boats, no snowmobiles and no skis " -: Haters are jealous of Dre’s:“Cheese” (money), (Record) deals, “G’s” (money, as in thousands of dollars.), “Wheels and keys” (nice cars) , Boats, snowmobiles, skis (luxury goods) Cars and money are staples of Dr. Dre songs, while the dense, multi-syllable rhyme scheme and references to skis and snowmobiles are likely a product of Eminem’s pen.
"Gave you a tape full of dope beats
To bump when you stroll through in your hood " -: Before the release of 2001, Dre already established his reputation for producing many famous hip hop beats fans bump to loudly in car stereos. He’s been producing well-known beats for many artists ever since he was part of N.W.A., but as for a “tape full of dope beats”, he’s likely referring to his first solo album The Chronic which he contributed to the production in all of its tracks.
"And when your album sales weren't doin' too good
Who's the Doctor they told you to go see? " -: Dre’s reputation as a producer is similar to a “Dr.” in the professional world in that other artists come to him when they need help. This comparison makes this line a play-on of Dr. Dre’s name. He is a mentor to Snoop, Eminem, and even other producers such as Daz Dillinger and Scott Storch. As such, ever since his debut as the head of production at Ruthless Records and well into his tenure at Death Row, he’s done a lot of notable, well-received, commercially successful production work up to this point, sometimes uncredited.
"Hoppin' out with two broken legs tryna walk it off " -: There is some serious sarcasm going on in this line. With two broken legs it would be almost impossible to move, nevermind hop. But Em is so drunk and impervious to pain that he tries to just “walk it off”, despite the fact he can’t physically walk.
"And I'm still loco enough to choke you to death with a Charleston Chew " -: Charleston Chews are extremely chewy chocolate bars. They are very stretchy and do not break or fall to pieces, thus making them an ideal edible means to strangle someone.
"Callin' men ladies
Sorry Doc, but I been crazy
There's no way that you can save me " -: Eminem lets Dre know that it is hopeless to try and fix him, it isn’t like this crazy behavior had started recently, he has been like that his whole life. It’s best to just let him be Shady.
Great break down and I have to say I agree. You can def tell some of Dre's verse was written by EM. Dre was a way better producer than he was a rapper. Not a diss to Dre its just the way it is. The man is a beast running the boards and making beats but his writting is lacking, like I said its not a diss on Dre its just the way it is.
Actually came out November 1999. It's just named the Chronic 2001.
I think you're overthinking broken legs line, it's just another way of saying he's very drunk.
@@138NastyNatethis isn’t his breakdown 😂 he stole it
@@138NastyNate ALSO (sorry only my 5th time watching them do this cause I just love Asia and BJ AMD her reactions to certain parts and BJ over there .....that’s just him...but she caught things in the video same as BJ AND NO REACTION CHANNELS HAVE BUT THEM!!!! Because it surprised me with a few that didn’t realize DOWN TO THE TINIEST DETAIL EMINEM AND DRE ARE THE SAME THEY WANT AS MUCH CREDIT TO GO TO OTHERWISE OVERLOOKED OR SLEPT IN PEOPLE AND FACTS ETC WHILE STILL KEEPING IT 💯 and just why they were the literal PERFECT MATCH TOGETHER. AND HERE WE ARE 1 MAJOR Super Bowl performance (YALL HAVE TO SEE THE NEW VIDEO/DOCUMENTARY ON HERE ABOUT THE CREATION, MAJOR MAJOR BACKSTORY & so much work!!!!! And DR DRE AND EMINEM WANTED THAT VIDEO DONE BECAUSE NO ONE HAS EVER EVEN CREDITED THE BEHIND THE SCENES MASTERS!!!!!) like Asia said in Lose Yourself.....BOTH EMINEM & here DRE what BOTH HAVE DONE FOR RAP!!!!!!!!!) it wouldn’t survived seriously much less overshadowing pop etc nowadays just look at the last few years AND NOW BEST OF BEST WAS DR DRE & Eminem at his induction to Rock N Roll HALL OF FAME & all I can this back to his lyrics about meeting Run DMC & getting to introduce them to the hall of fame AND ALL HE WOULD get on was the Alcohol Wall of Shame!!!!! I knew better. DR DRE’s voice & delivery on rap shows his Compton roots and I love it!!!!! 💯💯🔥🔥🔥💯💯🐐🐐🎤🎤🚒🚒💪💪🙌🙌👑👑❤️❤️❤️❤️
Crazy thing about this song, is that it was written completely by Eminem, even Dre's parts
before the beat was even made
I’ve been using the line “ I was upstairs listening to my will Smith cd” ever since this came out lol
...then the slap
You guys should find UP IN SMOKE TOUR 2000 and watch that.
"The Up in Smoke Tour was a West Coast hip hop tour in 2000 which was headlined by Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, also featuring artists Ice Cube, Eminem, Proof, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, D12, MC Ren, Westside Connection, Chilldrin of da Ghetto, Mel-Man, Tha Eastsidaz, Doggy's Angels, Devin The Dude, Warren G, Crucial Conflict, TQ, Truth Hurts, Xzibit, The D.O.C., Hittman, Six-Two, and Ms. Toi."
Hell ya! Best concert I've ever been to. I was 16 when I saw them in Toronto.
i have that on dvd somewhere, that concert was awesome.
Ice cubes crip walk lives rent free in my head
We need Asia's reaction to "Guilty Conscious" asap!!💯💪
I concur!
But make sure it's the explicit video
Absolutely!
Guilty conscience
@@echtautuus09 talk and text bro
LOVE THAT MARSHALL HAD "JANE YAMAMOTO" IN EVERY VIDEO WHERE THERE WAS A REPORTER FIRST TIME I NOTICED WAS "STAN"
It felt like it was just yesterday that I was 21 and this beat hit the radio. 20+ years soars by very fast. Enjoy the time that you are blessed with before it's gone!!
Respect bro. For sure
This, this, this!
Shady be writing his verses. That being said, no one can deliver it like Dre. 🌹🌹
👍
Eminem can rap to any beat…he is the Goat!
Asia and BJ we appreciate your hard work and talent on breaking down Eminem’s bars. You both have taught me and inspired me with the lyrical version of rap.
Eminem wrote Dre’s lyrics
I love Dr Dre's voice so smooth. Love this song.
I watch these reactions now waiting for Asia to “Eminem is a fool y’all” brilliant
One of the most iconic and legendary song from the best duo in rap industry.
What a masterpiece. Portugal here for the Goat Eminem always since day one and forever. Thanks for reacting. Salutes.
Best duo in the history!? Talk about an over-praise lol... Sir have you heard of Redman & Method Man? Jedi Mind Tricks? NAS AND AZ!???
Dre is not even a proper emcee to be classified in a duo lol he's mainly a producer who don't write his raps most of the time.
@@Supes97 who, in this days, beside Eminem, write their own songs, who?
Second, you clearly are giving oppinions based in what you heared the internet say and people, you clearly don't know much of this.
Let me see, to be considered a duo, both have to write their own verses (it doesn't matter the rapper flow, voice, skills?) Is that it?
Even so, Dre has one of the best voices, deliveries and most classic albums ever in rap history, he is a pioneer in this rap game, made collabs with almost every legends and was very important in the developement of the hip hop culture, so, please, put some more respect when you talk about Dre, cquse you clearly don't know sh** about it. I've been on this since the 80's.
I would love to know your favorite rappers lol and duos.
Oh, who are you to ask me if I know Meth or Redman, etc? You think you can teach me something in the rap game? I was buying and listening to Wu Tang Clan tapes and then cds and probably you were not even born my guy.
@@Supes97 i said one of the best Duos, not one of the best 2 lyricists, or writers, or producers, or teachers, or whatever your hater head thinks, ok? You need to be teached?
@@ErmelindoBarreto Hahahahaha what!?? Why are you judging and assuming shit you don't even know a squat about? That's an L right off the gate. You don't know me- what makes you think that i'm giving my opinion based on what I've heard or seen on the internet? I'm a Battle Rap judge, Freestyler and Hip-Hop connoisseur i would literally school you in any Hip-Hop related topic.
1. Saying Eminem is the only one who still writes his raps proves how ignorant you are about the culture- you're the one who actually don't know shit about the culture especially underground rappers which some of them are lyrically better than Eminem but they're not even known because they themselves refuse mainstream rap so they won't ever scratch the surface of the rap game- they just doing for the culture
2. If you were a real Hip-hop head you'd be aware that an emcee who doesn't write his stuff is not considered one. Even if he got the craziest cadences, flows, rhyme schemes and patterns. That applies to Eazy E as well. It seems that got that unconditional love for Dre 😆
3. Wanna know my top 10? Aight.
Big L
Rakim
Nas
Big Daddy Kane
Chino XL
Jeru the Damaja
Immortal Technique
Masta Ace
Chino XL
Royce Da 5'9
4. You think you're superior because you listened to Wu-Tang tales before i was even born!? Wow what a groundbreaking achievement lmao.... BOI IF YOU DON'T GET YO- I'm 26 yo and I've listened to every English speaking emcee on the planet. It's not about being born in a certain era it's about whether u went back and did your research- discovered new artists AND it's about knowing the fundamentals of Hip-Hop (lyricism, mic skills, standards to determine whether a certain rapper is goated or nah) not just listen to a rapper and over-praise him like you obviously do! I can name over 30 emcee that you didn't heard nothing or at least half of their discographies. And according to what I've saw from you so far? Yeah you're a typical mainstream head who thinks that Dre is special and Eminem is one of the ultimate rap goats... Because unfortunately you don't know many others that are simply doper. You mainstream groupie 😆
PS: Word of advice, don't you ever judge a person that you don't know shit about or they will make you look bad trust 😆
It definitely wasn’t 2010 😆 I’m 35 now, and I’m sure I was 15 when I first heard this
Correction , I was 13 😯 feel so old 🙈😆

Em wrote this entire song. This album took forever to come out, it was so hyped and it delivered. I was 21 and this song was Everywhere!!
BJ I have to ask man. How the hell do you not stay in a constantly melted state around Asia. Those eyes, that smile...all of it. Damn.

It’s all the for the views my boy. I know, I was let down as well. 😒
By far the best couple reactioners on YT🇬🇧stands with you both!👍✌🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
As a full metalhead, Chronic was one of my favorite albums. I love this track
What are your favorite metal artists, if I may ask?
For me the duo DRE and EMINEM is the best duo in history between an artist and a producer, everything they did together to walk, when you watch Dre's dvd on netflix, he explains that from the very first minutes of their meeting, he already knew that Eminem was going to be a star, he also added that his friends at the time did not want him to produce a white, but Dre didn't care because he is not a racialist. , in the dvd he says that if he managed to release the album "chronic 2001" it is thanks to the energy that Eminem brought him, this dvd teaches us a lot of things that we did not know about the two , especially in relation to the mystery of their meeting where many people invented a truth that did not exist .. Their meeting is thanks to Jimmy Iovine who is Dre's mentor in the high music business ... Iovine/Dre/Eminem = legends. 👌🤙🏼🐐 (big support from France 🇫🇷)
Em & 5'9" are an epic duo too..... jS
That Friend Was Snoop.
No
Dude just taught me something...my whole life I heard it as "in the parking lot when it's dark or not"
9:27 Eminem brought a whole new crowd to Dre, and vice Versa, mostly because of the comedy and the “odd couple” mentality. People liked seeing two opposite people having so much in common. They brought out the best in one another, honestly. Great fame for both of them because of their unlikely collaborations and relationship. Truly historic and amazing.
I was 19 when this came out , partying to this song lol
I was about 19 when em dropped, can u believe i didnt realise that he would be a legend. I think i was living in his awesomeness at the time.
I was 11 when he came out...1999... remember when they took over TRL and the Music Awards
ASIA YOU KILL ME LAUGHING... ITS CONTAGIOUS!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
Came out when I was 19 or 20. Me and my boys used to bump this in the car 24/7. Really the entire 2001 album was fire too
Eminem wrote all this shit. His biggest breakout was when he bodied JayZ on his own record. Eminem is the GOAT, don't deny it.
❤❤❤
Great reaction/explanation BJ
Em wrote Dre's verse
Love you guys 🤘. Your reaction to I Need a Doctor would be awesome
I feel so old. I'm 39, a little tipsy and can still sing this song word for word without missing a beat. You will get it eventually Asia. (And look much cuter doing it lol)

That intro was absolutely adorable. 👍✌❤
This is probably my favourite Rap tune, and one of the few that I can (somewhat proudly) pretty much Rap along to (not that a middle-aged white boy like me should necessarily be doing so). 😋
Best bar dre had is when he said "give me one mo platinum track then fuck rap you can have it back"
The best Iintro ever!!

Classic em track.
Em dropped the slim shady lp in 1999,My Name Is was his first radio hit. This was 2001,one of the best songs from that era
You have to be a early 90s baby to catch this one, Im 91 and this song came out 2001
Thank you for playing this classic song Eminem is truly a genius rap God all the way
This song debuted on the Chronic 2000 album, so definitely not 2010 lol. Great reaction though guys. Keep it up 👍
Just curious Asia what's the tattoo of? Good vid love the reactions you two!
He actually wrote this whole song he wrote dres lyrics etc this was deffo not his 1st song.
This single is off *(Chronic 2001)* & dropped in late *1999* but *Eminem's* single *(Hi My Name Is)* dropped in early *1999*
This song is so nostalgic I know every single lyric this is back when Ja Rule was actually respected and everybody bumped his CD in there Walkman
Best of Dre rapping ever!

I graduated HS in 2001. Marshall Mathers LP and Chronic 2001 came out pretty much back to back. Best believe we were all listening to them shits
I graduated in 2000... You ain't lyin!
At 2:12 got me craking what Asia said and BJ's honest reaction🤣😂
Between the Slim Shady LP and the Marshall Mathers LP. This song took him to legendary status, and was the linchpin for selling a ridiculous about of CDs on the MMLP
Em finally got his flowers after 50 years
7:26 it just never gets old XD Poor Will Smith! XD Such a nice and great actor!... Bad Boys, Independence Day, I'm Legend (fkn brilliant movie tbh), MIB and MIB2, I Robot and FKN HANCOCK (such a good and fun movie)!!... will forever be some of my favorites!... and i could watch all of them, together, in 1 sit, no problem!
Hard to respect Will Smith once you find out his lady wears a strap on.
Damn! U know infinite! Respect. I didn't know ppl outside of Detroit knew that shut existed.
*shit
Em wrote the whole song 🔥🐐
I can't believe you guys haven't heard Eminem's old stuff it is the best of his stuff if you ask me but I grew up with it
My name is was his first chart tune!1 biggup from the UK
He definitely was popular before this lol and he Also wrote the whole thing even Dre part
Great reaction, y’all should check out dre and Eminem “ I need a doctor “ won’t be disappointed
Snoop is still bitter because of this song to this day.
