"You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" is a prime example of Dusty's powerful voice. That's next up, right?😁
My favorite song by Dusty.
I hope!
Check out "WISHIN' AND HOPIN",THE LOOK OF LOVE".
She was insanely good throughout her long career. I loved her singing back then and I believe she led the women of the British invasion. Just a remarkable talent all-in-all.
that song is pure killer! the emotion in her voice is amazing.
Back in the sixties again. Those were the days. A great singer is Dusty. 💕💕🎶🎶👍
Dusty Springfield was the White Queen of Soul.
The incomparable Dusty Springfield.
"You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" is a must AND "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" when she teamed up with the Pet Shop Boys is an absolutely HAVE TO!
I love her song All I See Is You.
Oh definitely 😃
You beat me to it @teethang1! Yes this is my favourite Pet Shop Boys song. I especially love Dusty's solo (vocal, she isn't playing electric guitar, although maybe she could at the time, no idea 😉). I like the music video as well.
The Look of Love is super relaxing
She saves that pet shop boys song from being dull
The late, great Dusty Springfield. What a tremendous talent. I hope that at some point you will do her duet with The Pet Shop Boys, "What Have I Done To Deserve This?". For more of her 60s stuff, you can react to "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "All I See is You", or "Wishin' and Hopin'". Thanks for reacting!
Yes one of my favourite collaborations ❤🌟❤ Pet Shop Boys 😊
Damn straight dude.
Her cover of Anyone Who Had A Heart is my personal favorite.
I loved when she was with the Pet Shop Boys
Hey everyone look a troll
J & Amber, you'll love her "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me", "The Look Of Love" and "Wishin and Hopin' "!!!
Dusty has a soulful sound!
Great picks!
@@sarablack2547 thanks!
The Look of Love is a must!!
Dusty has some very bluesy and soulful songs in her repertoire. Have to hit The Look of Love and You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.
Only Dusty could pull at your heart strings when she sang.
You Don't Have to Say you Love Me
Wishin and Hopin
Son of a Preacher Man
The Look of Love
One of the best of the British Invasion females along with Petula Clark , Cilia Black, Lulu, etc
Glad you both enjoyed her.
Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
You're so Sweet. no pun intended. genuinely a nice person. Bigg Huggs !!
She is just amazing but actually her roots are Southern Irish, not British . But any way she is just fantastic and so brave being the first female superstar to come out as being gay, very unusual back then. She actually started out in a group called the Springfields, not sure, family members maybe . Her real name was very Irish sounding
@@sallybannister6224 I don't think she ever actually "came out" as in publicly proclaiming her sexuality. It just became known who she was and she never denied it. It was pretty much an open secret as I remember people saying she was lesbian when I was at school in about 1970. She was a truly great artiste and by all accounts kind, modest and a really lovely human being.
Never knew she was Irish or gay!!! Just knew I loved her and music. Lol 👍✌️🇨🇦
💋 Love Miss Dusty Springfield!
Please react to "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" by Dusty. Nothing but class from a classy lady with one of the best voices ever. God Bless and RIP Dusty.
The next one should be "The Look of Love." One of the most sensual performances ever recorded.
So so many hits from this woman
"All I See Is You" "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" and " Baby Blue/How Can I Be Sure? Middle Of Nowhere/ I Close My Eyes And Count To Ten"/The Look Of Love/ Little By Little/Some Of Your Lovin/Wishin' And Hopin'' and my favourite " Going Back" :)
R.I.P DUSTY
Dusty Springfield's versions of "Spooky" and "The Look of Love" are SO SULTRY, you'll be breathless!
Spooky is such a cool song!
yes. Spooky ❤
The Look of Love really brings her vocals to the foreground.
They are both such great songs and really explore her vocal talent.
She was a legend. The first lady of the BrItish invasion .RIP.. She hit it big here about the same time The Beatles did.. What you need to do is react to the other queen from back then and that is Petula Clark, Downtown is a must.. super reaction as always
One of my first memories as a child was this song playing in the car as mom was driving downtown! I was born in '64 so it must have been a few years later and still popular.
Yes!!!!!
Pet Clark was terrific too. You've GOT TO sing along with "Downtown".
This is my all time favorite Dusty Springfield song. This song was a hit while The Beatles were dominating the charts. I was in junior high when this song was on my favorite AM radio station WABC in NY with Cousin Brucie!
I always find it strange that nobody mentions 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' when Dusty is brought up. One of my favourite tracks of hers and a fantastic showcase of her incredible voice.
Dusty was part of the female British Invasion along with Petula Clark. You need to listen to Petula also. Her songs Downtown, I Know A Place and Don't Sleep In The Subway were all big hits in the early 60's
don't forget "this is my song" and "eternally"...
I vote for Downtown. It's the very first song I remember singing in the car when I was very little.
@@bethmiller1840 Downtown. Featuring Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Vic Flick (James Bond theme) and Big Jim Sullivan (almost everyone) on guitar.
It wasn't as bit a chart hit as some of Petula's others, but I alway loved "Who Am I?", which I always thought was such a quintessentially '60s song.
Son of a Preacher Man! Play it please!
Queen of Blue Eyed Soul thanks for coming back to her
A song we all need to hear - "What The World Needs Now Is Love" Jackie DeShannon
I agree! Beautiful song and means even more today.
She was on tour with The Beatles in 1964 and she sang this song in Toronto. Beautiful song. 🎶
Great suggestion!
yes we do! ❣️😃👍
And much later ...in the early 80s Jackie ( a physically sexy lady like Dusty) co wrote virtually the biggest selling song of the year........Bette Davis' Eyes
Dusty was one of the greatest singers ever was inducted into Rock n Roll Hall of Fame shortly after her passing. You don't have to Say you Love Me really shows her range. This was great. A Brand New Me is another great song. Also noted fot doing covers as good or better like Linda Ronstadt. Am I the Same Girl, Don't Make me Over by Dionne Warwick, did a duet with Tom Jones I'm gonna Make u Live Me. Terrific 👍
Oh yeah man that was awesome
Another one of my favs -- good picks today! "I Only Want To Be With You" (1964) was Dusty's 1st single to chart in the U.S on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #12. Part of the British Invasion ignited by the The Beatles at the beginning of 1964. One of the key British Invasion female singers to successfully hit U.S charts, along with Petula Clark). Dusty charted 19 singles on the Billboard Pop chart, 4 reached the Top 10, zero #1s (a 1987 collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?," charted highest, peaking @ #2 for 2 weeks)
.
You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me and The Look Of Love are her absolute best! They really showcase her vocal talent
Dusty was the British "Queen of Pop". She had a bunch of hits in the '60 and '70s. IMO her best stuff came from an album she did in Memphis. That gave us "Son of a Preacher Man".
She was Irish. And is buried in Ireland with an Irish language inscription.
She covered it up well mind you
Dusty- a British institution and a voice that just makes you wanna dance.
You previously reacted to the Bay City Rollers' 1976 cover of this song. This is THE best version.
Listen to Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt's duet " I don't know much (but I know i love you)" .Probably the best duet ever. Do the live version 1990 Grammy Awards. Amazing!!
YES! YES!! YES!!! They ❤️ LINDA RONSTADT, but they haven't heard AARON NEVILLE. I ❤️ AARON NEVILLE!! two perfect voices 👍😃❣️
Dusty also covered Leslie Gore’s song, You Don’t Own Me. I loved that song by both women. Powerful!
Love Dusty. She died 13 days before her induction into the R and R Hall of Fame in 1999 of breast cancer. She was only 60. She was great! Awesome voice!
Y'all need to do "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" by Dusty. Its one of the best songs ever written
The song gets even better when you read the story of how it came to be. Sorry I no longer have the link but it's worth searching for.
Great choice. Dusty was an amazing singer and was known for soulful voice. She appeared on Tom Jones TV show a few times around 1969 and they did some great duets.
For a powerful performance, you should do '' I close my eyes and count to ten '' my favourite track of hers, dusty was one of the best ❤❤❤
Dusty's brother Tom was a song writer. One of his songs was performed by The Seekers, "I'll Never Find Another You." If you haven't done a reaction video for The Seekers, check them out.
Dusty had such a great voice. Early 1960s - it was her first hit. I love this song and her look. Stuff from that era was so bright, upbeat and optimistic.
Dusty has a beautiful voice. "I just don't know what to do with myself" is another good one by her.
If you want gorgeous, otherworldly, mesmerizing Dusty, you gotta do Windmills of Your Mind! Probably a lyric video as they're pretty intricate.
This came out in 1964 (when she was 24) and managed to become a hit despite the onslaught of Beatlemania that year.
I was one of the many teenage boys who was in love with Dusty. And, of course, I knew she was singing this directly to me.
Oh and you must hear her 80’s duet with Pet Shop Boys, What Did I Do to Deserve This. The song reacted to last time was Son of a Preacher Man
You got to do "The Look of Love ".
Yes!
As Dusty got older, her voice got lower and more beautiful. You gotta listen to "A house is just a house". Fantastic.
“Wishin and Hopin” is another beautifully arranged and sung by Dusty.
Yes, definitely.
Her song *_The Look Of Love_* is AMAZING! The original recording is so clean and precise that professional audiophiles have for nearly 50 years used it to diagnose, calibrate, and set up their systems.
This is the version from the 1967 movie Casino Royale (a spoof of Bond movies). The song was nominated for an Oscar and is in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

You are so right. A truly great song!!!
This is my absolute favourite of hers.......sultry, smoky, sexy .....oh and that sax......it’s sublime ❤️
Another great one from Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
Yes yes yes!!
Absolutely yes I love that track, sheer perfection
This is an example of why previous generations were happier than today’s. There are a ton of examples of songs like this that do nothing but put a smile on your face. It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t have any negative overtones to it. It’s just somebody happy singing about why they’re happy - and you feel happy hearing it. 😊
I think you’re on to something. Music is magnificent. I feel sorry for those that don’t know that.
Want to be blown away Listen to Dustys Windmill of my Mind so beautiful!!!!!!
You ought to find Dusty's performance of 'A House is not a home' live on TV with Burt Bacharach. Soulful, gorgeous..... check it out!
I remember hearing the Bay City Rollers version of this song in the mid 70s but lately, I've been listening to The Tourists' 1979 version sung by a pre-Eurythmics Annie Lennox (alongside Dave Stewart), which I completely missed back then.
The classic British Invasion sound from 1963. For a similar singer, try Petula Clark "My Love" or "Downtown."
The Look of Love, You Don't Have to Say You Love Me are great Dusty hits!
Dusty Springfield! What a talent! So soulful! Dusty was close friends with Martha Reeves of the Vandellas and was instrumental in popularizing Motown music in Britain. She performed many Motown songs by various artists.
She did a song with Richard Carpenter in 1987 titled "Something in Your Eyes". It's almost like listening to the Carpenters again. Now you know Dusty and Karen it should be interesting.
You don't have to say you love me is most important. But all her music is so exceptional. What a beautiful talented lady.
Hinestly with so many of her songs suggested to you in truth you could pick any song randomly and you will love it. 1958-1990's! she did not define an decade... she defined an era in music.
I can't believe this! I heard this on a classic Casey Kasem from 1982 about an hour ago. It was a long distance dedication. I wanted to request this for Female Friday... and then you put this video up. Pretty awesome! This is a great sounding 60's song. 😎
DUSTY. Her style and voice were one of a kind!
LOOK OF LOVE ☆ JUST A LITTLE LOVIN ☆ WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND ☆ Live
Another beautiful beautiful song from Dusty is I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten.
In this same time frame, you had Petula Clark's "Downtown" a lighter pop sound, and Cilla Black's "You're My World" with more power still, both brits. SO MUCH MUSIC SO LITTLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I associate Downtown with Windy by The Association (no pun intended). I think they often played on the radio around the same time.
There's a vid of Cilla doing "Anyone Who Had A Heart" live, right back at the beginning, that's phenomenal.
Dusty's first record.Truly soulful.
Yay! You guys are really hitting it out of the park this week. I love what this song brought out in you guys! It's what sets you apart from others in a great way. Dusty does have plenty of great songs, soulful gems like "Some Of Your Lovin'", slow seducers like "The Look Of Love", big ballads like "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", " I Close My Eyes and Count To 10' Upbeat pop in the vein of this with "I'll Try Anything", "Stay Awhile", "Magic Garden". Plus so many others! You can't help but love Dusty! I would say "Some Of Your Lovin' " and "I'll Try Anything" would really appeal to you.
THe song is like a little symphony....this was one of the first "music videos"...it was done in 1963 and yes, was in black and white...colorized in the 90's.
She died after a five-year battle with breast cancer at the age of 59 in 1999. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later that year. Her fans hold "Dusty Day" every year in London to remember her music and raise money for breast cancer research.
😄best female singer the uk ever, Dusty was magnificent, the
voice was unbelievable, feel proud to English when I hear
people sing like this.
Dusty was instrumental in promoting the Tamla Motown Revue in 1965.
Introducing so many artists to the U.K.
Motown was enormous in the Sixties/Seventies.
I’m requesting “The Look of Love”. It’s smoking’ hot, and my favorite rendition of this song.
when I was growing up in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's there was a whole array of rich music...excellent!
I just love that you young folk can enjoy classic oldies 👍🎶♥️
Dusty had an awesome voice
This one alone was huge for her, Dusty was 1 of the greats of British female recording artists including hosting her own tv show during the latter 60's - back then you only got that on true talent and being very special, unlike its more general free for all of who gets their own show these days based on more dubious genuine factor of that. To this day Dusty remains one of the most respected and highly regarded vocalists of all time adored by her fellow peers back then in her era, and even now by later artists (hence how the 90's collaboration with Pet Shop Boys came about). She and Cilla Black were also great friends.
This song hit the Top 40 chart in the US on January 25th 1964. The official start date of The British Invasion of the 60's. Another British group was right there with her that week, The Beatles.
"The Look of Love" - another great Dusty song ...
My favorite Dusty Springfield song is a hidden song called give me the night tonight.
Windmills of your mind, is a gem!!!
Dusty was considered pop/blue eyed soul as her genres. She had a remarkably (seemingly at least) long career for someone who sadly passed very young. She died from a recurrence of her breast cancer just months before her 60th birthday. She was later inducted into the rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and her friend Elton John did her induction. He called her the best white singer he had ever heard. incredible talent.
Dusty's voice was simply amazing
Dusty was the original British Invasion...this song came out about 3 weeks before the Beatles debuted their 1st song, I wanna hold your hand. Yes this was colorized afterwards.
“You don’t have to say you love me” is her best!
Another great one from Dusty is, A Brand New Me, a great tune. She’s a great singer!
Classic '60's sound! Remember it well, listening to my small portable transistor radio, waiting for my favorites to be played! :) Excellent Choice, just listen to Dusty and How the Violins SOAR! :)
This came out on Nov. 3, 1963 -- so toddler that I was -- I remember it from being on the radio EVERY summer through my early childhood.
This was actually Dustys first hit, after going " solo " Previously was part of The Springfields trio singing folk and Country music .
"I Only Want to Be With You" was Dusty's breakout debut hit in 1963. Check out these other Dusty hits: "Wishin' and Hopin'," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," which was her one and only #1 hit, and her incredible take on a classic that many others have recorded, "The Look of Love," but hers is one of the best. If you've already done "Son of A Preacher Man," then you've done her best song. But these others are excellent, too. Dusty Springfield was one of the best parts of the British Invasion. Gone much too young.
Her first hit in the pop charts. Many don’t know that Dusty was originally a folkie with The Springfields with the tune Silver Threads and Golden Needles.
Absolutely! She was in The Springfields with her brother Tom, who was a songwriter. Thank you for including this one.
So happy you did Dusty!!!! The look of love is one of my favorite songs ever, by anyone!!!!!
Sergio Mendes & Brazil 66 & Dusty Springfield have the best versions of The Look of Love......💥
Thank you for sharing . The color of the video back then was in Technicolor. The camra tubes in the camera had rare earth phoshors on the screens that made the color brilliant than ones used today
Dusty Springfield was one of the finest singers of her generation, and you have to check out more of her songs.
Love her! Love this song! May I suggest Petula Clark as well "Downtown" is a great place to start ❤😀 This is the same song ya'll reacted to by The Bay City Rollers(a cover)
@@Dave-hb7lx "Downtown" by Petula Clark was the biggest hit of its year. It was everywhere.
This is my favorite song ever. My favorite version is by the Rollers, but I've never heard a version this song that I don't love.
@@diannestucki5732 i agree. There are a couple more versions I'll recommend to you as well. I only want to be with you versions by The Tourists and another version by Volbeat(all here on You Tube) 😀
A group I haven't seen ANYONE react to yet and has a strong summer vibe is Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft. Also, We May Never Pass This Way Again by Seals and Croft was played at every graduation ceremony in the late 70's. Both great songs.
Great reaction guys. Another great female singer/song from the 60s is "Downtown" by Petula Clark. I really think you'd both like it. 👍 🎵🎙💖
Yes, Petula Clark's "Downtown" has my vote too!
Yes please!!
revisiting this reaction. love Dusty Springfield! Her voice is always so clear and soulful. This is one of those up-beat "feel good songs" of the 60's. (The Lovin Spoonful had several songs in that category, along with Jackie DeShannon, Hermans Hermits. Keep in mind that this was released in 1964 - stage lighting and such were not of great quality yet. A few other top 40 songs: Wishin and Hopin - '63; You don't have to say you love me - '66; The Look of Love - '67; Son of a Preacher Man - 69 (soft, sultry voice). One of the top female singers of the era, for sure!
I was born in 1968. I have loved Dusty since before I could remember.
Dusty had a big hit as a member of 'The Springfields' who included her brother Tom & another guy. It was 'Island Of Dreams'.
If it to see KISS in 1976 Cobo Hall Detroit MI I was 10years old. It was the most amazing thing I ever seen in my short life and I have seen KISS 10 more times over the years! Always a great show! No matter the line up of the band Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are the heart & soul of KISS!!!💋
I was literally a toddler when this came out - and it's the first song I ever remember hearing (and loving) on the radio. Happy memories. :-)
Another incredible Dusty song you two will love is “Who Get’s Your Love” from 1973.
Her most beautiful song is The Look of Love. Her voice and the way she can express feelings with her voice in that song is just great. Completely different from the songs you heard so far.
The Look of Love is a must listen from Dusty.
remmeber was in Belfast 1996.12 when Ruby Murray died. the radio was playing her songs as well as Dustys. Two Goddess.
One of the most perfectly produced songs of all time. You can literally hear every instrument. Springfield's vocal is also perfection.
Beats Phil Spector's Wall of Sound hands down.
Dusty also had a rare track that made it on to the Northern Soul dancefloors in clubs in Northern England worth a listen called "Live It Up" 👍👍
Also I thought it was high time us Brits returned a Northern Soul classic back to America to react to called "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" by Frank Wilson. It didn't get much notice originally in America but was a key track played in every Northern Soul club at one time. There's a fella in Britain that has the only original 7' vinyl recording left in existence and has received offers over £100k, but it's not for sale! ❤️
