Hello Catherine, Back in 1979 or 1980, one of the instant potato boxes had an impossible cheeseburger pie recipe on the back of the box, you made the crust from the instant potato flakes and cut in butter and inside the pie you added ketchup , mustard and cheddar cheese soup, if you can find the original recipe that would be great. I make the original Bisquick recipe, no onion soup. I like these impossible pies, especially the spinach and feta one, the coconut one, the cream cheese one. The list is endless. My mother made them often. You can find tons of recipes for them online. Most are mixed in a blender. I’m going to make the pumpkin one.

Ummm . This looks so simple and tasty 😋. I like to buy up ground beef, fry it up, vacuum seal it and this is why. I add onions to some of it while I’m frying it. So I just happen to have everything I need at home. Also this is not a big casserole dish full. Perfect for me and my husband to enjoy a couple of meals out of it. We don’t mind leftovers. I too love impossible pies and the onion soup mix idea is a good variation. I'll have to try that! We like to substitute bacon or leftover chopped ham or lunchmeat ham for the hamburger meat (makes it like a quiche sort of thing).The Mexican version sounds really good too! Thanks again! 🙂👍

I use to make this a lot when my kids were little. I added a little ketchup into the meat mixture just to add a little more flavor. It was liked by everyone. I also use to do a Mexican version by a adding taco seasoning to the meat and had all the toppings of tacos on the side. Diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced up green onions, salsa,sour cream and of course guacamole.
When i make this, after browning and draining my ground beef, I add 2 heaping tbls of ketchup and 2 tbls mustard, 1/4 cup relish and mix into mixture before putting in pie plate!
I made this a lot for my family when my kids where growing up! They loved it and the grown ups liked it too. I lost my old recipe but I’m glad to see it again on your page. Thank u Catherine!
I love to make the impossible buttermilk pie! It is a custard like pie, and we love it.. We also make the cheeseburger pie and add 5 mins b4 slices of tomatoes.

This is an absolutely GREAT recipe. You might want to try a dab of sour cream when serving? That's what I did, and it made it that much more delicious! On my second piece I put some diced tomatoes as well? Yum completely! REALLY love this recipe Ma'am. Thanks for posting! 👋
