Reminds me of when my husband was alive. We were on a quest to making the perfect pizza crust. I made homemade dough and kept tweaking the recipe and we baked our personal sized pizzas in cast iron pans. They were always so good! Put that cheese right to the edge and the hot oil on the sides crisps it up beautifully. We got too fat eating pizzas every Friday and we went on a keto diet after all that and lost the weight. @ I’m sorry for not replying sooner! I had to find it! Keep in mind that this is a basic recipe. I kept tweaking here and there. In a bowl add the following and mix: 1 C. Hot water (bath water hot, not scalding or boiling! Kills the yeast if it’s too hot) 2 tsp. Yeast 1 T. Sugar In a larger bowl: 3 C. Flour 1 T. Baking powder 1 T. Onion flakes 1 T. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. Garlic powder 1 tsp. Salt Mix well! Add 4 T. Oil to your yeast mixture. Add the yeast mixture to your flour mixture and mix to make a soft dough. Drizzle a little oil over the dough, use your hand to moisten the outside of the dough ball. Cover for 30 minutes. I have used the dough without letting it rise. I actually did this often and it still turned out good. Knead your dough and divide it 3 ways for 3 personal sized pizzas. Roll each into a ball. Flatten on floured cutting board and use a roller pin or use your hands to make disks. You can just make one large pizza if you want. Put enough oil in the cast iron pan to oil up the entire bottom and sides. Lay your dough in the pan. Put your pizza sauce on, toppings and don’t be shy with the shredded cheese, put it all the way to the edge of your pizza. I can not remember the length of time it took to bake, but I do recall the oven temp was 400 degrees. Just keep an eye on it. Your cheese should be melted and bubbly and brown. You can double check the crust by lifting with a metal spatula, make sure it’s brown. Make note of how long it took so you don’t have to baby sit it so much next time. Good luck, enjoy! I have tried it with less oil, I’ve tweaked the amount of liquid, sugar, flour. Just enjoy a little change here and there until you like it. My husband wanted it chewier. I read that I probably should have been using a different kind of flour called semolina. So, get some semolina flour for chewier dough. Edited to say, I looked up the temperature to bake a pizza in a cast iron skillet because I could be wrong about 400 degrees. I read to bake it as hot as possible 450-500 degrees. I hope your pizza turns out great.
In cast iron pizza making, I build the pie and have oven preheated as hot as it will go, 500F if inside up to 600F if outdoors on gas grill, then "fry" on a burner on a lower medium setting to get the pan hot and the oil sizzling. NOT TOO HOT! Once dough begins to rise it's time to shut off the burner and let the pan set for a few minutes to get your money's worth out of the pan preheat. Next put pizza in preheated oven and remove when top ingredients are done and cheese has melted. The stove top preheat will give your bottom crust extra crunch and reduces bake time in the oven as the cast iron does take awhile to rise to a good frying temperature if directly tossed into the oven. Nice pizza and Don Pepino is pretty good for a quick and easy sauce. Thumbs up on the video!

Also, to rotate the skillet in the oven. This might also prevent uneven crisping. But that being said, the pizza was wonderful with a lovely crunchy crust. I will definitely make it again.

Looks good, I’m with you on the cast iron, some tips I can offer: pre heat your pan, this increases the crispy bottom. I love Cento pizza sauce more than Don Pepino, and you can turn on the broiler to crisp the top as well, enjoy.
Instead of pre heating the pan, you could cook it on the stove top for a few minutes before inserting into the oven. Turns out super crispy, and easier to let the dough rise in the pan. If you don't buy the dough, do a no knead for 18 hours or so.
Thank you for sharing this amazing dish….🙏 Tonight I made a pizza in my cast iron 9” skillet for the first time. Omg, I don’t think I will ever go back to a pizza stone. It’s crispy & moist in all the right places! I could have eaten the whole darn thing myself, but I didn’t. 😅 I made it with a basil pesto sauce, red onion, artichoke hearts with garlic & mozzarella pizza. Wow!…..Now it’s back to my keto diet. 😂

@@cecileroy557 oh thank you i will .. I got the skillet at Aldi for 9.99 and surprising it’s a real nice one .. I’ve put the oil on like it said to do and cooked in it and I had a little bit of sticking and I was frying in it and still had a little sticking so I’ll do the oil thing again. I’m very happy with it .. I’m thinking if I make the pizza in it .. all that oil will help to season it more?? .. I’d like to try the liquid pizza crust recipe in the cast iron pan .. but I want to make sure it doesn’t stick at all before i do that .. I’d definitely purchase another cast iron pan from Aldi .. it’s turned out to be a nice skillet and the price was right..

I’ve tried all the pizza sauces. I worked in foodservice over 35 years. Don pepino is hard to find in South Florida unless you pay out the nose on Amazon. I’ve tried everyone on the grocers shelf in 4 different grocery stores and Don Pepino has always been my go to. The Stanislaus product Pizzaioli which is in a #10 can is very close along with their Full Red one. #10 can is about 80oz.
Oh boy, am I jonesing for pizza right now. I have the same skillet. This is going on my to-cook list. Now I just have to find a place to get some dough and look for the sauce. I'm not in densely populated area, so fingers-crossed. I am now a subscriber. And let me also thank you not just for the recipe and process, but for not putting any music on top of your dialogue track. We get to hear just you telling us what to do. I wish other hosts who are telling us stuff (either just info such as why a plane crashed or how to cook something or how replace a bathroom's exhaust fan) would knock it off with the music playing while they are talking.
Good luck on finding your ingredients and I definitely know about the music overlay, that's why I don't do it. Thanks for watching and for the subscription!
You can buy the frozen bread dough…it comes just the right size to put in your bread pans….just let it defrost then put it in your skillet and spread it out ….it is so easy that way…look in your freezer section At Walmart or any grocery store…I pull mine out of the freezer the night before I’m going to use it..place it in a gallon size zip lock bag ..zip it up then place it in the refrigerator for a slow defrost all night …🤗
I make mine in a cast iron, no dough. bit of corn meal at the bottom and olive oil. Layered meat/cheese/toppings. Sometimes I add low carb noodles in the meat sauce. Keto bread toasted/cheese and cut into cheese sticks.

What a great comment, every oven is a little different, great advice for people that might have had the same thing happen to them. Once you make another pizza and make the adjustments it will be perfect. Thanks for watching!
I need to try putting my frozen pizza in cast iron, this looks delish 😋
If you do that good luck, I've never put a frozen pizza in a cast iron pan. Thanks for watching!

I've been using Mutti pizza sauce with good results. Thanks for the recommend on Don Pepino. I will try it.

I used to live 5 minutes away from Pepinos NJ processing plant. On cool winter mornings you could smell them cooking the tomatoes. It was amazing.
I bet that smells amazing! Thanks for sharing and watching!
Really loved your presentation. The pizza looks perfect. I can't wait to try it out, especially that Don Pepino sauce. Thanks.

That Dough is amazing!! You tell them I said that!!
And I'm telling them who said that? Thanks for watching!
Looks good, I’m with you on the cast iron, some tips I can offer: pre heat your pan, this increases the crispy bottom. I love Cento pizza sauce more than Don Pepino, and you can turn on the broiler to crisp the top as well, enjoy.
Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!
Great pie...looking tasty.
Instead of pre heating the pan, you could cook it on the stove top for a few minutes before inserting into the oven. Turns out super crispy, and easier to let the dough rise in the pan. If you don't buy the dough, do a no knead for 18 hours or so.
@@daphlavor thanks for the info and thanks for watch!
i make my oen dough amd i add a tblsp of otalian herbs in the dough..makes a big difference in the taste!

I have never heard of a cast iron pan pizza. This looks _INSANE_ good.
I think you should make it if you get a chance. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you did a cast iron pizza and that you loved it. Your pizza sounds awesome! Tomorrow I'm posting another pizza with my homemade sauce and the pizza is in a sheet pan this time. Thanks for watching!
I was wondering how to make cast iron pizza .. I just got a new cast iron skillet.. I’m looking forwards to trying your methods .. appreciate your time to make a video for those of us out here wanting more recipes for our cast iron skillets.. 👍
I subbed too! 🙏
Cast iron cooking is great, I use them all the time. Good luck with your new pan. Thanks for watching and for subscribing!
Make sure you "season" it. And season it every once in awhile. Google how to do it!! It's worth the effort and makes all-the-difference!!
Faceless,
The sound of the crust when you cut into the pizza was music to my ears.
And surely sir you have youngsters in your life you can make pizzas with. Don’t deny yourself (or them) the experience.

Looks fabulous.
@@JamesWillison-hv6jy thanks!
Looks fantastic, I get my dough from Jets right around the corner and thier sauce, it`s like $4.00. Then I build my own at home, i`m an anchovie guy, but only allowed to put in on half, hehe, well done sir.
It is so much fun to build your own. Thanks for sharing and watching!
Yummmy! Bring on the dough😋
Thanks for watching!
I can't believe that crust got so beautifully golden and crispy without pre-heating the cast iron pan first (like on a stove top burner). Looks great!
Yup, if you do it just like I did there is no reason to pre heat. Glad you liked the video, tomorrow I'm posting a sheet pan pizza with homemade sauce this time. Thanks for watching!
I’ve been a cook for over 40years and your pizza looks amazingly delicious good job 👍
Thanks for this great comment and for watching!
Thanks for a great comment, I, along with my viewers love other recommendations like this. Thanks for watching!

You can buy the frozen bread dough…it comes just the right size to put in your bread pans….just let it defrost then put it in your skillet and spread it out ….it is so easy that way…look in your freezer section
At Walmart or any grocery store…I pull mine out of the freezer the night before I’m going to use it..place it in a gallon size zip lock bag ..zip it up then place it in the refrigerator for a slow defrost all night …🤗
This was A - MAZ -ING!!! My husband and I made this last weekend and ended up eating the whole thing!!! Thank you!! 🎉

How was it?
@ delicious. I think I will use a thinner pepperoni next time. They were pretty thick. It was delicious
@lovemytide45 great to hear, thank you for the reply
I make mine in a cast iron, no dough. bit of corn meal at the bottom and olive oil. Layered meat/cheese/toppings. Sometimes I add low carb noodles in the meat sauce. Keto bread toasted/cheese and cut into cheese sticks.
