Thank you very much for the very informative and charmingly presented video. I have been taking astaxanthin (12 mg) and curcumin daily for about 8 years now. My immune system has improved dramatically since then. I also make sure I eat a balanced diet, get enough exercise and do muscle training 4 times a week. I haven't had any colds or flu since then. About 8 months ago I had a biological age test carried out at Glycan Age. That was very positive. My biological age (36) is 23 years younger than my chronological age (59). Astaxanthin has certainly played a significant part in this very pleasing development.
@@moniryousefian8782 Thank you very much. Gladly, I take 3 capsules of VitalAstin Astaxanthin brand: "Ivarsson's" daily. I also take 2 different types of curcumin from the manufacturer "Cellavent". Hello Irminne, thank you for the interesting video. But I thought AMLA was the king of antioxydants. Is Astaxantin a stronger antioxydant than Amla? Thank you dearly❤
Good question! It’s generally thought that astaxanthin has higher antioxidant activity compared to AMLA. if you look at ORAC scores (a general measure of antioxidant activity) AMLA has a score of about 261,000 and astaxanthin has a score of about 2,822,200. So much higher. This doesn’t discount AMLA though - it’s a great antioxidant berry and a great addition to the diet. 👍

Some antioxidant supplements have been found to negate the benefits of exercise and some reduce the production of glutathione. Have you run into anything in the literature that indicates this might be the case with astaxanthin?

Isn't the evidence on astaxanthin mixed for different outcomes? Like for example, studies show no effect on certain health outcomes and other studies show positive effects. Do you know what to make of that conflicting information?
I think a lot of it is study design, specific supplement brand/formulation used, and dosing. It’s hard to standardize when many different groups are studying a compound that is contained in many different formulations and dosages. Adding to this, many studies are of poor quality so have to be taken with a grain of salt or completely disregarded. When this happens, I go with what the majority of the scientific literature finds, that astaxanthin overall has beneficial health effects.
I have found Krill to be the best product for me so far, but after your presentation, I will try astaxanthin. One question I have, many supplements are contained in a gell capsule. Is all that gell harmful to the body?
That is a great question. Gel capsules in all types, even vegan without the bovine gelatin. Astrada thin can also be purchased in “regular” capsules, not gel (for example a brand called AX3 makes some).
I read that the synthetic versions of astaxanthin are in effective and therefore waste of money similar to the synthetic form of alpha lipoid acid. Its cheaper for a reason.
At the human dose equivalent of the ITP study* most people would turn orange (some ppl get carotenemia even at doses that are typically recommended on supplement labels). * Modern Healthspan calculated that a 75 kg person would need to take 1.3 g/day
