1. Dr. Nathan Bryan, a nitric oxide scientist, reports that studies done on adding arginine supplements did not increase nitric oxide, and in some cases made the production worse. The body uses body-produced arginine for nitric oxide and supplementing can mess up the process. 2. Nitric oxide produced when nasal breathing and humming has a very short life, only seconds. So we can't stock up for the day by humming for 5 minutes once a day. We need to do small hums throughout the day. (from the book "Breath" by James Nestor). 3. There are cavity and other pathogen causing bacteria floating around the mouth. This bacteria is different than the innate bacteria biofilm that we want for good oral health and nitric oxide. Only one or two mouthwashes (chlorhexidine) kill both the pathogen bacteria and the innate bacteria. Most OTC mouthwashes kill only the pathogenic bacteria. The innate bacteria springs back almost immediately after any disturbance. Sipping water disturbs it, eating disturbs it, OTC mouthwashes disturb it, but it comes right back unless it's the rare wrong kind of mouthwash described above. Unfortunately, oil pulling can also remove too much of the beneficial bacteria. This is from a dentist who measures and has promoted healthy oral bacteria biofilm for decades: ua-cam.com/video/dbydOM0OsfQ/v-deo.html
Wow you didn't miss a beat! Not a single stutter or pause well done. All these years doctors have been telling me to avoid nitrates so I did and I developed afib Now I'm learning I actually need nitrates for vascular health. Thank you for this video.

The always overlooked, very underestimated supplement, "Black Elderberry" will probably help or eliminate that... *The immune boosting and anti-inflammatory properties of this superfood make it a great natural remedy for allergy symptoms. There's a book called breathe. Don't know the name of the author. I read it. It's all about deep breathing and building your carbon dioxide up in your body to get your mitochondria /atp up. It's pretty cool. Wim Hoff it even mentions that in the book. It's a good read too. Did it on vacation in 5 days
One way to boost NO production that is often overlooked is to eat 'purple foods' - foods that contain anthocyanins. I call them 'purple foods', but they can be purple, red, magenta, or even black. Examples are blueberries, beets, black rice and hibiscus tea. With beets you get both nitrates & anthocyanins. There's also a lot of oxalate in beets so I would avoid things like beet juice and freeze dried beet chips. I passed a kidney stone after eating a few packs of beet chips over the course of a couple of weeks.
I read similar articles concerning beets and oxalates. One way to counter it is by taking vitamin C with your nitrate foods. I use a lemon in my beet, Arugula, spinach, radish smoothie. I’ve done this for ten years with no problems. Some of us are more sensitive to oxalates than others.
I don't understand how that would work since vitamin C also increases blood oxalate levels. Citrate from lemon could mitigate effects of oxalates, though. Lemon or no, I would not drink smoothies made out of beets, spinach or chard. Arugula is relatively low in soluble oxalates. Stones are no fun and can wreck kidney function over time. @@captainadams7569
A urologist said to eat something with calcium with the oxylate. That way the oxylate bonds with the calcium in you gut and never enters your bloodstream. Putting cheese on your spinach salad will do it.
I found that Citruline was better than Arginine: with the A, I would get swimmy-headed if I over ingested it. With the Citrulline, I just pour it in my tea, and don't bother measuring.

Now- Please respond: do you know of any peer reviewed literature or pre-publications that look at whether nasal corticosteroids like Flonase may impact the bacteria in our sinuses that help increase nitric oxide which relates to this? Thank you, you ROCK!
Hi, great question!! I did a quick literature search, and I do not see anything specifically on nasal corticosteroids inhibiting or affecting nitric oxide producing bacteria in our sinuses. But in general, these nasal corticosteroids are immunosuppressants - and there are some studies that demonstrate that they alter microbiomes in the sinuses and lungs, even making people more susceptible to pneumonia. So if I was to guess, they probably do decrease the nitric oxide producing bacteria. Again, that’s just a guess though - I don’t really have science to support that specific claim.

Speaking of nasal breathing to increase NO. Would it make sense to breath in through the nose and exhale through the mouth? This way all the NO produced in the nasal cavity would be channeled into the lungs, instead of half of it.
Hello quick question, I have occasionally swollen gum and when it happens I chew 2 cloves and instantly the swelling goes away. does cloves interrups my production of nitrates by destroying my bacteria /fungi ans viruses in my mouth? .... and sometimes when I fell something in my gums , I start chewing some cloves....
In Yoga we knew effects of NitricOxide 3000yrs back when we has "Brambri" Pranayam. Its a form of breathing technique dine with the buzz of a bee(bramri). Thats 130Hz. But you know what i loved this program for helping me reinforce my belief in Yoga
My nasal is almost always congested. But when I am exercising it clears up. When I get home and rest it slowly going back to being blocked up. I am not sure what is the deal.
Same. Warmer air passing through nasal from heating up frm exercise seems to clear it but when temperature drops back to normal blocks up again. Still trying to solve. 👊🏽🦁
Superb presentation.Im sure you must be aware of several breathing exercises in Yoga- Kapaal Bhati,Anlom Vilom, Pranayama,Bhramari Pranayama(Humming of bee),etc. Even the "Pranav Mantra".
Another method to elevate NO from Google, "Niacin (nicotinic acid, Vitamin B3) is a potent systemic vasodilator used to treat hyperlipidemia. Niacin induces vasodilation through prostaglandin-mediated release of nitric oxide." Also, bacon has nitrites as well albeit less than leafy greens.
Help and thank you for your great videos. I have one question for you and learning about the nitric oxide and the nasal flora and also a sinus area, if I take a nose spray called. Flutacasone Prophanae, will that compromise my sinus areas for nitric oxide. Thank you for your advice.
There are 2 pathways for the body to produce NO. The arginine pathway and the nitrate pathway. From age 40 only nitrate pathway is active. And arginine intake will be detrimental. Also using mouthwash like listerine and the popular H2O2 Hydrogenperoxide intake is horrible for nitricoxide production. Dr Rachel Ross is an expert on this topic. Checkout.
Excellent video - Thanks. The only item I would disagree with is Arginine supplementation. Dr Bryan explains that shortage of Arginine is not the problem, but the conversion of Arginine. In fact, over supplementation can be an issue (according to papers he discusses). Not sure where he stands on Citrulline supplementation. He recommends stopping, statins, Fluoride in toothpaste etc. stop mouth washes and avoid anti-acid products. All these inhibit the production of NO.
I’m already doing most of these things and I can affirm that with each one of these things I’m feeling better at 55 than I did at 45. I’m adding the humming and pray it gets even better
Good information, but I would just like to clarify for anyone looking for the humming note of 130 Hz. It is actually C3 (130.8 Hz). That is one octave below middle C (261.6 Hz). Middle C on the piano is named C4. "C1" as mentioned in the video is the lowest C note on the piano (32.7 Hz).
Just like to add that your gut health is extremely important to your overall health. When your gut microbiome and gut health are in a dysbiotic state, you will not break down nutrition for metabolic health adequately. It's important that your gut and oral microbiome health is in a state of high digestibility. If you have hyper intestinal permeability your body will be in a chronic inflammatory state, and the energy to repair and heal will be less as your body will be constantly fighting mild to moderate infections either from biotoxins or environmental toxins. Also, your liver is highly nutrient-dependent and in order to create or break down metabolic molecules for repair and healing .. your liver will need specific nutrients. Health is many things.. all of what she says, but importantly understanding that the foods you choose to put in your body are directly correlated to gut microbiome and the future person you want to become. Health can be a choice for MOST of us. If you want to create Nitric Oxide nuture the cells in your body adequately. I am an RDH,Bs, Certified Functional Nutritional Medicine Practitioner, and BCTN.
I've had stubborn high blood pressure for 30+ years, I'm 68, 6'1, 170lb. I was on Atenolol for 20+ years. I now play at lot of pickleball and found if I play like over 3hr my BP would drop to like 70/45 so my doc switched me to HCTZ which gave me headache and ringing ears. So I quit HCTZ, I'm now on Ashwagandha root powder (1/4 teaspoon) in 1/2 cup beet juice 2/day. My numbers seem to be holding steady at 135/80. I'm so excited that it's working.
I do the same things as you, except that I ride my bicycle up on the Mt. Tam instead of playing pickleball. I have read one of the most important things is to not use any fluoridated toothpaste, and never use mouthwash. Unfortunately around here the MMWD adds fluoride to our water, so I don't drink tap water here-haven't for the last 40 years or more. I don't even use fluoridated water to brush my teeth. I read that fluoride kills the bacteria in the mouth that goes down to the stomach to create nitric oxide, and that using fluoride is the very worst thing that anyone can do to their body. Worse than smoking or living in the city by far.
Beta blockers have lots of side effects. Increased blood sugar, increased hemocrit, and increased hemoglobin. Study your blood pressure info on line. I switched to a arb blood pressure med which decreases blood sugar, lowers hct, and decreases blood volume. Diuretic is Chlorthalidone also instead of htcz. Check your lab work also. I’m your age but have been on meds since I was 34 after the birth of my son. There are multiple classes of blood pressure meds. Beta blockers were probably only available way back then before new meds came on the market. I’m on valsartan now and worked with pharmacists to cross taper me off of lopressor onto this new drug. Goal is to get off totally. You’ve really got to advocate for yourself and research any drug your on.
I love humming & believe it can heal. Humming at different octaves vibrates different areas of the body. Happy healing thyself!😊 Laughter, strong laughing oxygenated your body, how wonderful! When I go to the city, people often comment on my smiling. Most people in cities don't smile much. It's important to smile & complement others. You just might make their day or save a life.😊
Cal Esselstyn (Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease) is big on Nitric Oxide and endothelial integrity via nutrition and backs up exactly what you are saying; it is refreshing to hear a physician such as yourself articulate the wholistic way to optimise NO; thank you so much
Yes, however I do not remember Esselstyn talking about taking supplements of L-Arginine and L-Citrulline for the downstream effect to increase NO in the blood. And Esselstyn is even more strict with avoiding flouride, to use a water filter that removes even the low level flouride in water from the faucet.
Thank you for this excellent video👍🏻 this was the first summer I grew beets in my garden , not only because I love them but also wanted to get more NO in my diet. I have been roasting them and I swear I can feel an increase in my energy.
Yay! You're back! Your mention of L-Citrulline lead me down quite a fascinating rabbit hole about Dr. Ignarro's discovery that lead to a Nobel Prize. Amazing! Your videos are ultimately valuable, and so well made! Thank you!
@@danpan001 Nitric Oxide apparently has a very short half-life of just a few seconds. L-Argenine apparently gets converted to nitric oxide and has a longer half-life but still short in comparison to L-Citrulline, which, when used with a strong antioxidant, apparently gets convertrd to L-Arginine, in the body, and has an hours long half-life. So, after going down that research rabbit hole, I've chosen a combination of a couple grams L-Arginine, a couple grams L-Citrulline, and Amalaki (Indian Gooseberry) for my antioxidant. It seems to have an observable positive affect.

I sometimes breathe thru my mouth because my nose is stuffy. Would using Afrin affect the NO in the nose?
In Yoga we knew effects of NitricOxide 3000yrs back when we has "Brambri" Pranayam. Its a form of breathing technique dine with the buzz of a bee(bramri). Thats 130Hz. But you know what i loved this program for helping me reinforce my belief in Yoga
You are good looking , and your video is very informative.
Is oral microbiome relative to gut microbiome? Thanks
Don't forget stinging nettles, they to are rich in it!
I never heard of Arugula
but it it turns out it's what we refer to as Rocket here in the UK.
The joys of the American language.
lol
Turns out there are so many more examples like this:
Zucchini = Courgette
Rutabaga = Swede
Scallion = Spring Onion
Egg Plant = Aubergine
I know!!! We are strange over here 😜
@@outofthedoldrums you said, it lol 😂
although I have to say Rutabaga has a good ring to it 😉
My nasal is almost always congested. But when I am exercising it clears up. When I get home and rest it slowly going back to being blocked up. I am not sure what is the deal.
Same. Warmer air passing through nasal from heating up frm exercise seems to clear it but when temperature drops back to normal blocks up again. Still trying to solve. 👊🏽🦁

Awesome
Superb presentation.Im sure you must be aware of several breathing exercises in Yoga- Kapaal Bhati,Anlom Vilom, Pranayama,Bhramari Pranayama(Humming of bee),etc. Even the "Pranav Mantra".
With nasal breathing should you exhale through the mouth or through the nose?
Exhale thru 💋. Humming noise u hear when u see 🛸🛸. 💘🌎🕊
Sauna, sun and cold exposure also create nitic oxide
Another method to elevate NO from Google, "Niacin (nicotinic acid, Vitamin B3) is a potent systemic vasodilator used to treat hyperlipidemia. Niacin induces vasodilation through prostaglandin-mediated release of nitric oxide." Also, bacon has nitrites as well albeit less than leafy greens.
Does singing also increase NO?
Not sure, that study hasn’t been done yet!
Great
Help and thank you for your great videos. I have one question for you and learning about the nitric oxide and the nasal flora and also a sinus area, if I take a nose spray called.
Flutacasone Prophanae, will that compromise my sinus areas for nitric oxide. Thank you for your advice.
BEETS, SPINACH, CELERY ARE VERY HIGH IN OXALATES! Please see Sally K Norton's book TOXIC SUPERFOODS about why you've got to them out!

There are 2 pathways for the body to produce NO.
The arginine pathway and the nitrate pathway.
From age 40 only nitrate pathway is active.
And arginine intake will be detrimental.
Also using mouthwash like listerine and the popular H2O2
Hydrogenperoxide intake is horrible for nitricoxide production.

what about ginko biloba?
Where can I get red light therapy?
Excellent video - Thanks. The only item I would disagree with is Arginine supplementation. Dr Bryan explains that shortage of Arginine is not the problem, but the conversion of Arginine. In fact, over supplementation can be an issue (according to papers he discusses). Not sure where he stands on Citrulline supplementation. He recommends stopping, statins, Fluoride in toothpaste etc. stop mouth washes and avoid anti-acid products. All these inhibit the production of NO.
She explains that Arginine supplementation is not effective because it gets metabolized in the liver.

I shall have to check my biosonic tuning forks. I’ve not used them in a few months.
Imagine monk's chanting Om or Aum.. why do you think they do it?❤😊
Just like to add that your gut health is extremely important to your overall health.

Your "Dr" is a dealer first, a healer 2nd.
The effects of infrared light is intriguing in its relationship with NO. What effect does an infrared sauna have in generating NO?
I love humming & believe it can heal.
Humming at different octaves vibrates different areas of the body.
Happy healing thyself!😊
Laughter, strong laughing oxygenated your body, how wonderful!
When I go to the city, people often comment on my smiling. Most people in cities don't smile much. It's important to smile & complement others. You just might make their day or save a life.😊
Love this! ✨
❤every time I start humming , I start giggling and end up laughing. Childhood memories I guess. Good stuff

WHOSE GOT THE CHEAT LIST?

Beautiful, clear, steady presentation. Well done!
I think the real message is the deception in the food store 😢
Thank you for this excellent video👍🏻 this was the first summer I grew beets in my garden , not only because I love them but also wanted to get more NO in my diet. I have been roasting them and I swear I can feel an increase in my energy.
Las remolachas no las como crudas , cocidas al vapor por los oxalatos.
Yay! You're back! Your mention of L-Citrulline lead me down quite a fascinating rabbit hole about Dr. Ignarro's discovery that lead to a Nobel Prize. Amazing! Your videos are ultimately valuable, and so well made! Thank you!
Thanks for sending me down this rabbit hole in advance! lol
How about just take nitric oxide?
@@danpan001doesn’t work that way
@@danpan001 Nitric Oxide apparently has a very short half-life of just a few seconds.
I told a coworker about the Nasal Humming. He reacted like I was nuts. Some people just don't get it. 😂 Loved your tutorial. Please give us more. 🥁
