Bayonetta is a great example of "too many options" She already has a Jeanne based alt and the rest are just recolores. But there would be so much to choose from. All of the Nintendo/Amiibo costumes, a Jubelaus costume, a Madama Butterfly reference, a costume based on the "Joy" from the first Bayonetta It is just so much........
I think the reason they didn’t give him that costume is because a lot of Terry’s animations involve him playing with his hat, and the GAROU terry doesn’t have a hat so he wouldn’t have been playing with anything. If they gave him that costume he would need new win screen animations, a new taunt animation, and a slightly tweeked power dunk animation since he turns his hat backwards for that move.
They’re doing it in kof xv so they could’ve done it for Terry in smash, the hat twirl could be changed to his taunt in mark of the wolves where he bows and says “sorry” and when he has his MoTW costume the hat toss victory screen could be changed to the victory pose where he takes off his bomber jacket and tosses it over his shoulder
@@rg527 what im trying to say is thats a lot of work and they didnt have to do that for the other DLC character costumes like naked sephiroth or nerd joker. and theirs actually more animations than just those theyd have to change. Idle animation, falling animation, up air animation, no other character with a unique alt requires that much changing, its possible but its just not worth the extra work, thats more than some echo fighers get.
I mean they did that for pyra and mythra to an extent, and honestly it’s such a minor animation of grabbing the hat that they could probably leave those move animations unchanged and no one would really notice or complain
@@rg527 thats not a good comparison, pyra and mythra are 2 characters meshed together. We're talking about costumes, and i like the garou costume as much as the next guy, but its a lot of changing for a mere costume. It would literally be about as much as Samus and Dark samus, and theyre echofighters.
Move crafted Yoshi to slot 11, and add back black Yoshi to slot 8, and white and orange Yoshi to slots 9-10. Add yarn Yoshi to slots 14-16 with green, pink and blue colours. Add red and blue crafted Yoshi to slots 12-13 to complete the set. Place slots 9-16 below slots 1-8 and use up/down to move between the rows.
@@omarpikm2101 Yarn Kirby wouldn't exactly work, since he's 2D, and would require reworking all the animations. Having him do the regular 3D animations with a yarn body will just look wrong. I do still believe they would be able to create yarn animations that mimicks the 3D animations, to ensure all hitboxes and hurtboxes remains the same, but it wouldn't be the standard of adding new costumes. Also having him being 2D could also mess with the Z-axis detection of these boxes. - I'm still all for a yarn Kirby. But I don't think it would work great in the game.
I wish they gave Link the Hylian Hood as part of his outfit. He was wearing it when BOTW was first teased in 2014. Even if they make him wear the hood down, I would at least want him to have the cape.
For me I'd like to see Clouds look from kingdom hearts and Boom boom, pom pom, or even meowser jr for the koopalings. (I have thought maybe Boom Boom AND Pom Pom together but I don't think they would be able to both fit in a clown car and look natural) Edit: While technically a costume, Jigglypuff when using her final smash should become dynamaxed jigglypuff

One idea for a full-on costume I had was Luigi's casino outfit (with the bow tie and waistcoat suit) from _Super Mario 64 DS,_ where he was the dealer in a series of casino-themed minigames; always thought he looked really classy there, so that'd work well for one. And If we're talking colours as well, I'd love to see Mario and Luigi get their classic looks (blue shirt and brighter red/green overalls that match the hats) from the early games. Kind of surprised they've never had those in _Smash_ already, I will be honest!
I’d love for Link to wear the Hero of Time and Hero of Twilight sets from the BOTW’s amiibo costumes. Since there technically from Link’s game there’s no need for a moveset change!
I find that Fox’s appearance in Star Fox Assault is the one game where he’s designed way differently than all his other designs because he wears a red coat. And I think it would be neat to give Fox his coat from Assault.
I think that Fox could have an Assault or Adventures design for an alt costume. They could even get recolours that reference other characters from the games.

Ninten is also a fairly good idea for Ness' alt. They look similar enough to work, whilst being unique from Ness' look. Also, it would be cool to see all three entries in the Mother series to be represented.

In Star Fox Command, there's an ending where him and Falco repurpose their Arwings and become basically F-Zero drivers. They both had pretty spiffy outfits to boot so maybe those would be a neat costume addition

I'm still up for the idea of Smash giving us access to do 8 additional recolors or palette swaps so we can have each character be up to 16 costumes. This idea was also good.
I'll repeat my idea for how DLC costumes could work: - when you hold L/R, you can move left and right to change costume, and you have 1-8 to pick from. The DLC can add costumes 9-16 as a row below 1-8 and you can press up/down to quickly move between the rows. - All characters will one alternative model: Joker, Little Mac, Meta Ridley, Sephiroth, Shulk, will have their alternative model moved to slot 9 and 10 if it has a recolour, and slots 11 and 12 will have new recolours. This will free up slots 8 and possibly 7 for recolours of their regular model. - For characters with two alternative models like builder/wedding Mario, will have his two variants be placed in slots 9 and 13, with 10-12 be recolours of 9, and 14-16 be recolours of 13. Then fire Mario can be re-added alongside another colour for slots 7-8. - For characters where there's two models, with 4 colours each, which are Bayonetta, Byleth, Cloud, Corrin, Kazuya, Olimar, Pokémon Trainer, Robin, Wario, Wii Fit Trainer. The second model will be moved to slots 9-12, and 13-16 can be filled out with new recolours. You can then press up/down to select costume variant and left/right for colour. - Then there are other characters with only alternative models like Bowser Jr., Inkling, Jigglypuff, Pichu, Pikachu, so either slots 9-16 can be creative recolours of 1-8 like blue bow for Jigglypuff, or create new hats like bringing back the green headband for Jigglypuff. - Then when the costumes are better sorted, new costumes can be added through DLC, like Dry Bowser with recolours for slots 9-12, golf Peach with recolours for slots 9-12, and so on.
i would personally love costumes based on Strikers Charged for the characters that were in that game, like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, DK, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr, and Wario

These are some cool "what ifs" and I look forward to what you think of for Smash Ultimate newcomers and its dlc. Personally, there's a lot of lost potential on Byleth when two alts are just Byleth with the different hair.

It bugs me so much that K Rool just has alt colors, I feel like they missed such good opportunities for him. They couldve gave him full on alt skins from all the different games, Kaptain K Rool's pirate outfit from DKC 2, Baron K Roolenstein's lab coat from DKC3, and his boxing outfit from DK64. Im glad the moves are inspired from all the different games and that he puts on the pirate hat with his neutral special and stuff but i think it would be so much better if you could just play as each version.
You know, a great reference costume for Jigglypuff would be to have a Male Trainer hat just like how Pikachu has a female hat (Selene's hat from Sun/Moon) for itself. Help to make them closely related. Since the Black 2/White 2 trainers dont have a reference, giving Jigglypuff the Visor Cap from Nate's design would be awesome
For Mario, he also needs his Wario alt back and needs a alt based on his own brother, Luigi. He might even need back his inverse alt and his Ice Mario alt. For Donkey Kong, he needs a Funky Kong alt. For Yoshi, he needs his black color alt back, along with orange and white. For Luigi, he needs the same thing as Mario. For Pikachu, he might need to have a cap alt based on Ash Ketchum.
Skylanders is my childhood, so I like hearing about it especially with its 10th anniversary! Also, it’s fine if you hate the series, please just respect my opinion and I’ll respect yours.
Donkey Kong could also get adult DK Jr. (as he appeared i Super Mario Kart for Super Nintendo) and Funky Kong as alts. They are all three the same built, so it shouldn't be a problem. Fox could get his father James and an adult version of his son Marcus as alts.
Since copy ability hats make giving Kirby an actual costume a no go. My idea would be to give him different skin textures such as Yarn Kirby from Epic Yarn, Clay Kirby from Rainbow Curse, or even bring in his old N64 model. As for characters with little costume history to pull from, more original ideas, inspirations, or pulling from different characters would have to come forth for them. With that in mind, characters like DK get a lot more options to choose from. DK Jr., Arcade look, Funky Kong, Cranky Kong. Then there's my favorite unique idea for him: His old model from the SNES Donkey Kong Country games straight up recreated in all of its retro glory!

Aaron, I implore you. For Ike. Make one of his Radiant Dawn color schemes to be in the Disciples of Order colors. They're the antagonist of Radiant Dawn, Part 4, near the end of the game. While the wiki doesn't show the colors of the generic units, if you look up Catalena and Yuma on the Fire Emblem Wikia, those two are Disciples of Order **bosses.** You could use those as a base. It's a damn shame we don't have them in the base game, and I'd love to see it represented here.

So so glad you are making this series cause I have many ideas for costumes for smash (that are within reason) I’ll go over the ones you mention: Mario- love the idea of sunshine Mario and I could even think of alternate colours for that (e.g a hawaiian shirt with fire flowers instead of shines) DK- the punch out costume would be the best option. You could even make alternate colours to change the trunks to match other punch out characters Link- if we want to go with referencing other links, then I would pick Hyrule warriors link cause a) I love the scarf b) hyrule warriors have alternate colours for it Yoshi- paper Mario yoshi is a fine choice, however to make him seem older I would have him wear a wrestling singlet with polka dots (a reference to the American dream Dusty Rhodes) Kirby- yeah you really are stuck with colour changes Samus- fusion (which has alternate colours) dread, dark, light and PED suit Fox - I would give him either his adventures outfit or assault outfit Pikachu - detective pikachu or even a “cosplay pikachu” Luigi - yeah I am trying not to say Mr L Ness -…. I have nothing Captain Falcon - there is one point in F Zero GX where he was forced to wear a marti gra mask and cape… why not go all out? Jigglypuff- this sounds weird but I picture a Roxy themed Jigglypuff. Yes roxy is a poison gym leader… but she is also a singer, like jigglypuff

Idle animation, falling animation, up air animation, no other character with a unique alt requires that much changing, its possible but its just not worth the extra work, thats more than some echo fighers get.
I mean they did that for pyra and mythra to an extent, and honestly it’s such a minor animation of grabbing the hat that they could probably leave those move animations unchanged and no one would really notice or complain

We're talking about costumes, and i like the garou costume as much as the next guy, but its a lot of changing for a mere costume. It would literally be about as much as Samus and Dark samus, and theyre echofighters.

Move crafted Yoshi to slot 11, and add back black Yoshi to slot 8, and white and orange Yoshi to slots 9-10. Add yarn Yoshi to slots 14-16 with green, pink and blue colours. Add red and blue crafted Yoshi to slots 12-13 to complete the set. Place slots 9-16 below slots 1-8 and use up/down to move between the rows.
@@omarpikm2101 Yarn Kirby wouldn't exactly work, since he's 2D, and would require reworking all the animations. Having him do the regular 3D animations with a yarn body will just look wrong.
I do still believe they would be able to create yarn animations that mimicks the 3D animations, to ensure all hitboxes and hurtboxes remains the same, but it wouldn't be the standard of adding new costumes. Also having him being 2D could also mess with the Z-axis detection of these boxes. - I'm still all for a yarn Kirby. But I don't think it would work great in the game.

For me I'd like to see Clouds look from kingdom hearts and Boom boom, pom pom, or even meowser jr for the koopalings. (I have thought maybe Boom Boom AND Pom Pom together but I don't think they would be able to both fit in a clown car and look natural)

One idea for a full-on costume I had was Luigi's casino outfit (with the bow tie and waistcoat suit) from _Super Mario 64 DS,_ where he was the dealer in a series of casino-themed minigames; always thought he looked really classy there, so that'd work well for one. And If we're talking colours as well, I'd love to see Mario and Luigi get their classic looks (blue shirt and brighter red/green overalls that match the hats) from the early games. Kind of surprised they've never had those in _Smash_ already, I will be honest!

I'll repeat my idea for how DLC costumes could work:
- when you hold L/R, you can move left and right to change costume, and you have 1-8 to pick from. The DLC can add costumes 9-16 as a row below 1-8 and you can press up/down to quickly move between the rows.
- All characters will one alternative model: Joker, Little Mac, Meta Ridley, Sephiroth, Shulk, will have their alternative model moved to slot 9 and 10 if it has a recolour, and slots 11 and 12 will have new recolours. This will free up slots 8 and possibly 7 for recolours of their regular model.
- For characters with two alternative models like builder/wedding Mario, will have his two variants be placed in slots 9 and 13, with 10-12 be recolours of 9, and 14-16 be recolours of 13. Then fire Mario can be re-added alongside another colour for slots 7-8.
- For characters where there's two models, with 4 colours each, which are Bayonetta, Byleth, Cloud, Corrin, Kazuya, Olimar, Pokémon Trainer, Robin, Wario, Wii Fit Trainer. The second model will be moved to slots 9-12, and 13-16 can be filled out with new recolours. You can then press up/down to select costume variant and left/right for colour.
- Then there are other characters with only alternative models like Bowser Jr., Inkling, Jigglypuff, Pichu, Pikachu, so either slots 9-16 can be creative recolours of 1-8 like blue bow for Jigglypuff, or create new hats like bringing back the green headband for Jigglypuff.
- Then when the costumes are better sorted, new costumes can be added through DLC, like Dry Bowser with recolours for slots 9-12, golf Peach with recolours for slots 9-12, and so on.
It’s a crime that the green headband isn’t in every smash game is like the most iconic alt ever

It bugs me so much that K Rool just has alt colors, I feel like they missed such good opportunities for him. They couldve gave him full on alt skins from all the different games, Kaptain K Rool's pirate outfit from DKC 2, Baron K Roolenstein's lab coat from DKC3, and his boxing outfit from DK64. Im glad the moves are inspired from all the different games and that he puts on the pirate hat with his neutral special and stuff but i think it would be so much better if you could just play as each version.
You know, a great reference costume for Jigglypuff would be to have a Male Trainer hat just like how Pikachu has a female hat (Selene's hat from Sun/Moon) for itself. Help to make them closely related.
Since the Black 2/White 2 trainers dont have a reference, giving Jigglypuff the Visor Cap from Nate's design would be awesome
For Mario, he also needs his Wario alt back and needs a alt based on his own brother, Luigi. He might even need back his inverse alt and his Ice Mario alt. For Donkey Kong, he needs a Funky Kong alt. For Yoshi, he needs his black color alt back, along with orange and white. For Luigi, he needs the same thing as Mario. For Pikachu, he might need to have a cap alt based on Ash Ketchum.
Skylanders is my childhood, so I like hearing about it especially with its 10th anniversary! Also, it’s fine if you hate the series, please just respect my opinion and I’ll respect yours.

Donkey Kong could also get adult DK Jr. (as he appeared i Super Mario Kart for Super Nintendo) and Funky Kong as alts. They are all three the same built, so it shouldn't be a problem. Fox could get his father James and an adult version of his son Marcus as alts.
A cool costume for kirby would be the modern design for shadow kirby
Since copy ability hats make giving Kirby an actual costume a no go. My idea would be to give him different skin textures such as Yarn Kirby from Epic Yarn, Clay Kirby from Rainbow Curse, or even bring in his old N64 model. As for characters with little costume history to pull from, more original ideas, inspirations, or pulling from different characters would have to come forth for them. With that in mind, characters like DK get a lot more options to choose from. DK Jr., Arcade look, Funky Kong, Cranky Kong. Then there's my favorite unique idea for him: His old model from the SNES Donkey Kong Country games straight up recreated in all of its retro glory!

Aaron, I implore you. For Ike. Make one of his Radiant Dawn color schemes to be in the Disciples of Order colors.
They're the antagonist of Radiant Dawn, Part 4, near the end of the game. While the wiki doesn't show the colors of the generic units, if you look up Catalena and Yuma on the Fire Emblem Wikia, those two are Disciples of Order **bosses.** You could use those as a base.
It's a damn shame we don't have them in the base game, and I'd love to see it represented here.

So so glad you are making this series cause I have many ideas for costumes for smash (that are within reason) I’ll go over the ones you mention:
Mario- love the idea of sunshine Mario and I could even think of alternate colours for that (e.g a hawaiian shirt with fire flowers instead of shines)
DK- the punch out costume would be the best option. You could even make alternate colours to change the trunks to match other punch out characters
Link- if we want to go with referencing other links, then I would pick Hyrule warriors link cause a) I love the scarf b) hyrule warriors have alternate colours for it
Yoshi- paper Mario yoshi is a fine choice, however to make him seem older I would have him wear a wrestling singlet with polka dots (a reference to the American dream Dusty Rhodes)
Kirby- yeah you really are stuck with colour changes
Samus- fusion (which has alternate colours) dread, dark, light and PED suit
Fox - I would give him either his adventures outfit or assault outfit
Pikachu - detective pikachu or even a “cosplay pikachu”
Luigi - yeah I am trying not to say Mr L
