  • Riding my 95 Yamaha Banshee at Wayne National Forest. I've been asked several times if I think the Banshee is a good woods/trail quad. My answer is the Banshee "can" be an excellent woods machine. If you have it tuned properly, widen it up a bit and bolt on some good shocks its an absolute pleasure to pilot in the woods. Come with me for a ride along and let me know what you think. Comments welcome and Thank You for watching!!

As a banshee owner myself, and owning many banshees in the past as well, I can say that most people don’t have any doubt about the banshee’s motor, it’s a great motor. It might be a little more complicated to work on than a normal 2-stroke, but when done right it is awesome. Most of the trails you were on are well traveled and groomed trails which works well for a banshee as well, but in tight and very technical trails the handling isn’t as good as many other sport quads. Yes, it will put handle ANY utility machine, but in comparison to a 250R, Tecate 250, LT250R, or any of the 400cc or 450cc pure sport machines the banshee doesn’t handle as good out of the box. That’s not yo say you can’t spend some money and make the suspension much better, but it seems to take a lot more money to build a banshee to compete in the handling department. That doesn’t mean it’s a terrible machine because it’s not at all, it’s just a machine for the “financially stable” if you are going to really build it to be a top competitor.

I love banshees so much and want to own one so bad please continue to ride and take care of this beautiful machine as your future kids/grandkids may never get to experience this!

I personally did all my trail riding as a child and teen on 2 stroke bikes trikes and atvs 4 strokes are now much more popular but back in the day 2 strokes were the way to go hell to rebuild a top end along with jetting carb replacing floats etc was easier than most people think nice vid btw.

I'm 54 years old. Only atv I've ever owned sense the mid 80's has been and still is to the day a Yamaha banshee. I'm widened and lowered and more geared for flat track racing. But on off days when my wife wants to ride we do a 30 mile loop of seasonal and back roads. My body just isn't trail worthy as my bike is.

I love trail riding on sports quads ... the maneuver game is insane 💯💪🏾👌🏾

Looks like an excellent place to ride. Way back in the day I used to race hare scrambles with a 87 Fourtrax 250r so I love any kind of woods riding. I was a mid-pack finisher at best but it was fun. Like your Banshee btw 👍

I've riden here several times. I have a 4mil banshee myself. Banshees (imo) love this shit. If you have it setup properly it's a blast in the woods. A lot of folks build engines, but never do the suspension. I've ran Elka Legacy on all my banshees. Personally! The fit me, and my riding style. You can make anything do anything. Just how far you want to take the build is the question.

Nice Banshee! My banshee is setup for trail riding and I love it ( extended A arms and rear axle, elka long travel shocks, full skid plate, Dg bumper, grab bar, and nerf bars, and its geared down) The only thing I don't like is that its lower then stock so it doesn't take much to get stuck on a stump or in mud.

I built mine for the trails, widened and the front end is a tad bit lower for drifting. Never had any issues. Made 59whp on the dyno, perfect for woods.

I loved mine in the woods. Sold it for a yfz450 when I started racing motocross though. At the time it was the right move, now I just want that banshee back
