As a kid I was never allowed to have such a awesome machine. Now at 57, I just purchased a 91 Banshee fresh rebuild, powder coated, almost $9500 after shipping can’t wait to take delivery.
My step dad when I was 13 I had come home from school on honor roll and there in the back yard sat a Yellow and Blue Quadzilla man I was soooo excited dang bet I put 100 miles on it first weekend
Congrats bro! I literally just bought to out of Washington. Both 2003 and fucking clean like day. Both blue and chromed out. 20k out door and shipped, they will be here Saturday! Looks like a few boys dreams came true this month,..... decade or 2 later🤣
I bought one in 1999 just like the blue one in the picture, I rode it on and off for four years, then I parked it when my fist daughter was born until now. I just replaced all the fluids, rebuild the front calipers and ordered two front tires, can’t wait to put them on and go out and ride it. It’s been 20 years. I thought about selling it, but when it cranked up the bug bit me again 😂 God I love that ATV..
I wanted one since the day I first time I saw one when I was 14. I bought one and have had it 10 years now. The sound and the g-force of that power band just never gets old. The thing about ever selling one is that nowadays the prices are getting so high if you sell it may be the last time you ever get to own one. At least not without spending an arm and a leg.
could not disagree anymore, Ive known many in the town I grew up. nobody liked them. they had them because they sounded cool but then wook up when they realized how much more gay it was having 2 more wheels and then nobody would buy them so they were stuck with them.
LOL. The Warrior / Banshee reference really hits home. I had a '98 Warrior and thought I was the shit until my cousin shows up one day with a 'Banshee. Soon as he kicked it over I knew I was in for something special that weekend. Man, when the power band hits about half through second gear is a feeling ill never forget. If I had $8k to blow, id buy a Banshee tomorrow!
I bought one brand new in 1994 purple and yellow, traded a blaster and gave 5600.00 dollars for it. And no four stroke quad will ever compare to just the raw visceral experience of a Banshee. I've rode most of the new four stroke quads, they're way better than the ones from back in the day like a warrior but I wouldn't trade my old Banshee for any quad built today.
Couldn't agree more with you at the end about pulling the check book. I literally just bought my first ever quads. 2 quads out of Washington. Both are 2003 banshee, fmf pipes, chromed out. Looks like noone has ever touched them. They were garage babies and for sale at a dealership. 9k each. Holy shit! I literally paid 20k 😮💨. But I'm 😊 😃. They will be here Saturday. What a first buy man and ya I pulled that trigger as fast as my first nut!
I love my banshee and I think you guys should build one most definitely. I have a 2022 yz250 and my 98 banshee 2 strokes are just something that makes me happy
My first quad I got when I turned 21 every one hated on me but I loved it it fit my personality I smoked everything I came across 😂😂nothing compares to it the sound the speed and the uniqueness💯💯💯
Put a set of Toomey T5s on it I promise you will be glad you did. I have an 03 Banshee all stock besides a set of Toomey T5s. I had plans of doing a bunch of other stuff but the difference the pipes alone made were so big I put anything else I planned on the back burner. It’s so much faster you will come home after your first ride and throw your stock pipes in the trash because you’ll know you’re never going to put them back on. It’s not like a 4 stroke where aftermarket exhaust doesn’t make big power gains. With a two stroke engine the shape of a tuned pipes expansion chamber can make power gains as big as you would get putting an aftermarket cam in a 4 stroke engine.
It’s the Motor, the two stroke Twin is a descendent of the water cooled TZ -250 and 350 gran prix bikes, also the TZ-750 a 190 mph 4 cylinder with 140-160hp at 320 lbs and known for its broad powerband. It’s basically two banshee motors connected with a common crank. The internals are very close in design and known for being a very durable, reliable engine. The biggest difference is the lack of a power valve on the Banshee. The early 80s RZ-350 street bikes were the same motor as the Banshee except for the retention of a power valve. Imagine if you will a TZ-1000 4cylinder motor in a side by side made with modern CP cylinders At least 200 hp, probably more. There’s been several people who tried to cast new cases and source parts for the 750 over the years since it was such a beloved, legendary motor which was also known for it’s ease of building and maintenance. Maybe Nows the time. It also shares a lot of parts that are already being manufactured for Banshees .
i randomly came across a 100hp banshee video on youtube and a week later paid 7500 bucks for a nice 2000, funnest quad ive owned by far. my 660 is covered in dust never gets used anymore
Just bought one yesterday! It’s an ‘87 and almost completely stock, I’d say 90% stock. I bought it for 5k here in Michigan! It’s fairly clean, the paint wear definitely shows the year, but the last guy sunk a lot of money into restoring/fixing it, and rode it maybe 9 times since it was rebuilt last year. I’d say I got a steal.
In 1988 I purchased a new 1987 Banshee. It was a demo at a dealership in Stone Lake, WI. Several years later, I sold it for what I paid for it, and I always regretted selling it. In 1989, while I was serving in the military at Fort Irwin, California, I finally saw a Yamaha RZ 350 street bike for the first time. I now own a 99 Banshee that is almost completely stock, with the original, un-cut fenders. There are lots of excellent, high-performance quads, but nothing sounds like a Banshee.
The twin cylinder 2 stroke sounds amazing, thats what got my attention as a youngster and when I got mine a set of DMC aliens, 916 or fmf was the only exhaust sound I wanted. Managed to get the aliens and loved every moment! At 60hp mine was hella fun, never did I ever think "I need a 100hp build" 😂. Thats just mental!
Banshee's are super sick, but I still don't think it matches the Fourtrax 250R in all around performance. Banshee is definitely faster/quicker, but stock for stock the R blows it away in everything but a straight line. I'm still really happy to see the aftermarket is strong for both quads. Let the debate rage on forever!
Is not about that, it's the whole experience the banshee gives to you, the adrenaline, the sound, the looks is just iconic and unmatched in that way. Sure the 250r is faster on a track but banshee's are for the dunes not for the tracks. shees are like an old japanese muscle car and the 250r like a 90s Honda. Also the reliability of the 350cc engine is amazing. Here in South America we have 20+ years old banshees still running hard on their original engine in the dunes. If you take care of them they run foverer plus is one of the most 80s thing ever.
Shout out to the 250r when we first did motocross my older brother bought a nice one a guy had raced dirt track with, bought roll design and custom axis long travels all around. That thing handled like no other and had some pretty good power on the band but you had to do a lot of shifting to stay in it. Another special machine like the banshee.
First loved the banshee because of the look and sound, then when I finally got one I stayed for the power. Nothing done to it to improve power at all besides pipes but thats all I need for trail riding in PA.
Given that Yamaha is the lone remaining Japanese manufacturer of 2 stroke dirt bikes I’m surprised they haven’t seen how profitable it could be to have the only brand new 2 stroke quad just take the existing yz250 motor (which outpowers a banshee considerably stock) and throw it in a version of the yzf450 chassis . Hardly any new tooling or R&D investment and if they wanted to do it they could easily just bore out the 250 past 300 or so.
I was 21 (1989) when I got my first banshee. That was the day I decided that I would never own any other ATV. Then mid 90's came and children happened. No more banshee.... for now. Then my youngest boy turned 14 and wanted an ATV. So I couldn't start him on one and I would need something for myself to ride with him. So I got him a warrior with motor mods and got me my 2003 shee. Now its 2022 and still today I own and ride it frequently. Yes at 54 I've reverted to riding mostly paved roads. And yes my wife is on the back. Its nothing for us to ride 40 miles in less than an hour and it's still as fun as it was when I was 21.
I buying one tomorrow 7/22/2022 and it’s clean ass hell “1998” just had a total engine rebuild and I’m never getting rid of it!! I’m going to totally upgrade everything on it couple day after I get it I’m putting on the toomey t5’s the bike cost me $8000 but it’s like new so I paid it banshee are just expensive and I can understand why.
I had one years ago, loved it, they have a distinct look and sound i think. I've owned ten different quads also and they hit 70 something mph but the banshee was always a little quicker, that maxed at about 85 mph but my banshee had a couple of add ons which made it slightly quicker.
Because its the best looking 2 stroke quad ever built. they are great at dragracing, but have zero chance of actually keeping up with any 450 on the track or in the trails.
Great vid guys. I had one back in the day It was stock win I got it .I got a toomy racing power kit pipes silelencers and jet kit .That banshee would rip!!!!!!
We like Banshee because they got a lot of 'personality' , it's fun to ride, 2 strokes 2 cylinders, the sound and there is ton of aftermarket parts. But dont be mistaken, the geometry and suspension sucks.
If it doesn't break your bones, you are not riding it hard enough. I'm still recovering from a flip over broke both my shoulders, but would never sell it. Its a death machine. Love my Banshee.
Sweet vid! love my redline racing ported 421 serval! if you build one come on down here to Oklahoma to little sahara and we can shoot some great footage! Duneman
I’m a True Die Hard Honda guy. The the Banshee has always been on the list of quads I want. I race XC so no it’s not practical for me in that group. But I would still love to rip it at a race at the end of the season just to do it. There’s no match to the sound of that twin motor. Winning or not you would definitely have people cheering you on haha
It’s a popular bike cuz it’s durable, easily customizable, and you can get good deals if you search hard. I’ve ridden banshees in the past, and if I ever decided to buy a quad, I’m definitely getting a banshee.
I agree, I hate the EPA as well. Just an organization with too much funding and nothing to do. They don't give a crap about emissions, with the push for EV's being proof of that statement. All EV's boast "Zero emissions!", even though there is no such thing. Most of that power came from coal mines, natural gas burning generators, etc. All they do is relocate emissions, not to mention the energy that is lost when transferring and storing said power, until the car is ready to use it. EV's are no better for the environment, and in my opinion, they are worse. So my question is, what's with the big push? My guess is something completely unrelated to the environment.
I had one for a few years back around 2001. It was really fast. Bought for $1300. Sold a couple years later for $2400. Wish I had never sold it. It was red and yellow with the yellow rims. God I miss it. Currently have a Suzuki Quadracer 250. Also a great quad and love the 2 stroke. And a Honda 450r. The 450r is just as fast or faster than the Banshee but honestly it doesn’t handle all that well. Nothing like the old Honda 250r’s
Don't buy one just go online by a frame with a title and then build it ground up that's what I ended up doing I bought the bike but all I used was the rear swing arm and the gears! That is it!!! You can still buy OEM engine cases for $700 You get a nice crank and top and kit for 2 grand, Long travel Elka suspension and a arms for another 2 grand, OEM plastic for 7 to $800, And then just a few other odds and ends it does add up but you end up with a sick a** BANSHEE. If you have somewhere I can send pictures I'll show you my build! I'll literally be finishing it up this weekend( Just waiting on part from Duncan still ) or next weekend and headed to Hatfield & McCoy at the end of August!
Don't take it on the mountain. Nothing good will happen trust me. I been there. 2 strokes r not good at all there. I 🙃 flipped n almost flew off the mountain
Owned my 94 dark purple poked and stroked fully modded for over 25yrs and will not sell it. It’s the sound, the twin chrome pipes and the adrenaline rush that gets it for me ! Too bad atvs are not street legal here in MI !
I paid $400 for a 97 banshee all original. Even the brake pads are original and still are. The engine had a bent rod and twisted crank when I bought it 11 years ago. I just got it going a couple months ago. I'm to old for a 90+ mph machine like this. I ported it myself and airbox lid mod, squeezing 135 psi compression for 92 octane non-oxy gas. Yee Haw.😁
There is very few banshees where I live so when I pulled up to the dunes here the dudes on raptors couldn’t quit eye balling I even had the local Yamaha dealer here try buying it off me.
i bought a '99 new and rode it every day for about 7 years. moved around and got married , had 2 kids and its been in storage . just bought a new house with 2.5 car garage. my baby is coming home. new rubber. breaks and gaskets. cant f'n wait. im going to ride it like i stole it. brapppppppppppppppppppppppppp!!
I know I am late to the party, but I own 2 of them. I will die with them. I also have leakdown kits on SALE at ebay (East Coast Banshee), whatever the build!
One thing the banshees suck at is motocross because of the geometry and suspension. But building a banshee for motocross would be really unique because everyone builds them for drag racing or dune riding.
For real! My friend claims that his Polaris Sportsman 700 four-stroke could beat a banshee. DUDE! 700 four-stroke compared to a 350 two-stroke? Still not sure it would win🤣
I mean there is a twin cylinder variant if im not mistaken that ones the most expensive but the few ive got to drive was some of the most scary but fun times ive had
People who never ridden one will never understand. When that power band comes on. And it gets so angry it wants to sling you off of the back. Something I can’t explain. My 4mil stock cylinder, with a drag port, small bore shearers. Tuned to VP 110 is special to me. You can’t get on one and baby them. They’ll hurt you if you don’t know how to ride one.🦍💪🏾
anyone know anything about this museum out east with the never ran banshees before ?id love to go check out the museum if i could find it ...a link would been nice
Stock for stock, the Raptor is the better sport quad. That being said, they are so different it's hard to compare them. The Banshee is just impossible not to love, even if it's not the best.
@@jamesjackson4224 me either, I hate raptors. Most can be a hunk of junk. To me they handle horrible for what they are. They always made me feel like I was going to turn over. But maybe that’s because I own an LTR. I just never been a fan of raptors.
Super Quad Nothing else comes close...I have four banshees...all OEM except one has a twist throttle. When left stock and taken care of..they are bulletproof. Also have a warrior, yfz 450 ( just gave it to my son) and a raptor 700R....which is faster than the stock banshees....but I love the sound and smell of a 2stroke 350twin banshee....peace out
When they were $1000 on Craigslist 10-15 years ago, no one wanted them. Now that they don’t make them, everyone wants one. The suspension is shit, but it rips.
@@Jay-323 the seat is comfy. It’s pretty comfy on the street. I ride woods with steep hills, roots, big rocks, and it’s a pretty rough ride. Mines a 95, shaved heads, 2-1 exhaust.

As an 80’s kid this was my dream quad! It was most definitely the hellcat of the quads…maybe more like the Demon. I still want one.
Let her rip! Most fun you can have. 100 mph with a couple pipes and a rejet and sprocket

The Yamaha Banshee...a quad so good even dirt bike riders loved it.

Winning or not you would definitely have people cheering you on haha
It’s a popular bike cuz it’s durable, easily customizable, and you can get good deals if you search hard. I’ve ridden banshees in the past, and if I ever decided to buy a quad, I’m definitely getting a banshee.
literally the most overpaid for atv right now.....
I have a 1987 my dad bought new in south Florida never had a over heating issue I still get it out time to time
Need 1
Bought mine for 2500 last year!! Got lucky on that one
The banshee is what the fox body mustang is to the aftermarket
I think that’s one of the best descriptions I’ve heard.
And I’m a proud owner I would like to say I own one 🤘🏾😎
I had one for a few years back around 2001. It was really fast. Bought for $1300. Sold a couple years later for $2400. Wish I had never sold it. It was red and yellow with the yellow rims. God I miss it.
Currently have a Suzuki Quadracer 250. Also a great quad and love the 2 stroke. And a Honda 450r. The 450r is just as fast or faster than the Banshee but honestly it doesn’t handle all that well. Nothing like the old Honda 250r’s
And the sound it makes??? Truly is a banshee!!!
We love two strokes🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hands-down best quad ever made just above the 250 r
I mostly stay on 2 wheels but the few ATVs I like is a Banshee, quadzilla 500 and a Raptor 700
Stuntin on em
Yes belgium 10k -15k banshee street légal. I love banshee 🥰
i bought a '99 new and rode it every day for about 7 years. moved around and got married , had 2 kids and its been in storage . just bought a new house with 2.5 car garage. my baby is coming home. new rubber. breaks and gaskets. cant f'n wait. im going to ride it like i stole it. brapppppppppppppppppppppppppp!!
I know I am late to the party, but I own 2 of them. I will die with them. I also have leakdown kits on SALE at ebay (East Coast Banshee), whatever the build!
my dad has a banshee motor in a ymz 450 quad
That's wild! How long did it take your dad to do that?!
In 87 people actually used them as a Atv not street queens like you see today and we rode trails with no issues
What makes it great is that twin cylinder fire breathing dragon
It's just the hype. I took mine on the trails and dirt tracks and was highly disappointed. They're awesome on dirt roads and pastures tho.
They can be made into trail machines, but we also know they are meant to run the dunes or wide open roads/trails! Great point!
One thing the banshees suck at is motocross because of the geometry and suspension. But building a banshee for motocross would be really unique because everyone builds them for drag racing or dune riding.
Lonestar and Laegers build 250r geometry frames for banshee for this purpose
I have a 2000. Love it.
That liquid cooled 350 engine was mint on a street bike as well and bullet proof.
Bought brand new banshee cases from America 2024 to build my dream motorcycle!
I just found a 2005 banshee on fb market place for 3000 euros is it worth getting ?
Thanks to use my videos 👌👌
Thanks for watching! We always make sure to plug the channel well too! Keep up the awesome content on your channel!
You guys should do a VERSUS between the Banshee and the YFZ 450 SE.
Whenever I see someone hate on banshees this is their argument " Banshees are the past, it's not the 80s anymore, Raptor 700r go brrr."
😂😂😂
For real! My friend claims that his Polaris Sportsman 700 four-stroke could beat a banshee. DUDE! 700 four-stroke compared to a 350 two-stroke? Still not sure it would win🤣
@@datimeem9898 it’s not. A Banshee is a whole different animal 🦍
I got a banshee in 06 at age 19 I got about 30 hours on it after all these yrs. To this day looks like it's out the factory
There is a car lot in my town that has a pretty clean banshee! I’d love to own it but no telling what they want for it!
Glenn - good job man
I would like to have one and see what you guys build
I had one, when it ran, it was a beast however when it breaks, it breaks….
I mean there is a twin cylinder variant if im not mistaken that ones the most expensive but the few ive got to drive was some of the most scary but fun times ive had
One word for the Yamaha Banshee!!! LEGEND!! or CLASSIC!!
The Yamaha Banshee... A beast of a quad!!! ❤️❤️❤️
You already know it!!!! 🤘🔥
So damn glad i bought one when they weren‘t that expensive.
And i can run it on the street legaly.
there's a guy in Texas who has a twin turbo 650 banshee, it's producing 344 horses, I've seen him run the quarter mile in 5.25 seconds
You're claiming he went at least 250mph in a quarter mile?
Because it looks cool.
And I'm over here towing my banshee with a rust free hilux 👌🤘👍
Best quad ever made
Facts!🔥
anyone know anything about this museum out east with the never ran banshees before ?id love to go check out the museum if i could find it ...a link would been nice
I know there’s Binkys is that what your talking about?
Stock for stock, the Raptor is the better sport quad. That being said, they are so different it's hard to compare them. The Banshee is just impossible not to love, even if it's not the best.
Rather have my banshee. Raptors just don't apeel to me.
@@jamesjackson4224 me either, I hate raptors. Most can be a hunk of junk. To me they handle horrible for what they are. They always made me feel like I was going to turn over. But maybe that’s because I own an LTR. I just never been a fan of raptors.
Love my Shees!!
Hell Yes it is the Best Quad Ever Built. 1st Banshee, 2nd Quadzilla, 3rd Trx 250R. 4th Quadracer 250R. Still waiting on more 2 strokes to be built.
4:52 that’s my banshee braap was on lol. 💪🏽💪🏽. Btw I still have it lol
Helll yeah!!
@@FunctionPowersports shee street legal too 😬. Btw, awesome vid! Sub’d!
I’m thinking of buying one , 2010. How reliable are they ?
Super Quad
Nothing else comes close...I have four banshees...all OEM except one has a twist throttle. When left stock and taken care of..they are bulletproof. Also have a warrior, yfz 450 ( just gave it to my son) and a raptor 700R....which is faster than the stock banshees....but I love the sound and smell of a 2stroke 350twin banshee....peace out
I have a babied 2006 Banshee. All stock just different stickers on plastics, never piped or jetted have fmf pipes. How much you willing to spend?
Because it so fun to ride and hp easy gain lots after mod I used have it before turn stock banshee into sand drag lots of drag race in Oregon dune
If you build it they will come..... Banshee.
I just bought a mint condition banshee zero scratch and zero problem for only 1000$
Awesome 🤘
@@FunctionPowersports not awesome…. I got scammed
I want a 4cyl matoon banshee engine to put into an R6 chassis.. 2 stroke crotch rocket 1400+cc lol
When they were $1000 on Craigslist 10-15 years ago, no one wanted them. Now that they don’t make them, everyone wants one. The suspension is shit, but it rips.
What about it that makes you feel that way? Just out of curiosity I have an 06 and I find it comfortable to ride
@@Jay-323 the seat is comfy. It’s pretty comfy on the street. I ride woods with steep hills, roots, big rocks, and it’s a pretty rough ride. Mines a 95, shaved heads, 2-1 exhaust.
what brand/model light is on the black banshe at 17sec video
After some pretty deep searching, we have been unable to get you an answer on that. We will keep digging though.
