This is super helpful man thank you. I freelanced full time for 8 years and most of the time it was either highly stylized lighting that I would do or it would be the type of shoot where it’s run’n’gun with very minimal to no lighting on set. But recently I got a job as part of an in-house video team for a big company.
Now that I’m working at this company, I have to do that bright, even, globally lit commercial type of look you did here. It’s basically all they want for all their shoots and it’s the type of lighting I have the least experience in. I have team members who are talented but none of us are great at lighting. We usually achieve a good lighting look but sometimes it takes way too much time to figure out.
I’ve been on sets with talented gaffers before and I feel like with more practice we should be able to cut our time spent figuring out lighting by at least 1/2 maybe even 2/3 less time.
Thanks again for this. I’m gonna check out the Patreon for sure
Great setups, thanks for sharing!
I really liked the meditating scene.
Thanks for sharing man, really cool stuff!
Thanks Rob, hope I can come shoot something with you some day. Would love to learn from you in person. Thanks for all you have put on youtube.
Great work!!
another banger of a video bro!
Great video! I Learned a lot!
Solid video as always!
Nice one Rob!
Great Video
Intro goes crazy. Nice new little thing I like it
Trying something different!! 🙂
Recommendation: wrap stabilise your footage even if you use gimbal, or glide cam, as it feels bouncy... just saying, it will help to keep those shots nicer and steady, as it is already steady but for some reason the background feels bouncy.
which is your favourite length lens to film commercials? 35mm or 50mm or other?
The "healthy lifestyle" lip sync up made me laugh
😎
🤝 thanks Evan
Hey! great video Robert!
I wonder about intensity of bouth 1200D... Full for the bright day? and matching windows?
Great tip for the frost diffuser
They were running from 80-100% most of the time!
Hey man. You're great for sharing all you do and clearly very talented. I know you're going for a high key look. I'm not sure it's intentional, I find the front lit scenes a little unflattering on the faces, especially the couple on the couch. I feel it would have looked a lot nicer with a bit more shape and reverse key. Whereas the yoga scene super nice with the reverse key and shape. Just wanted to share! Good job overall.
super helpful. Frames looked good, albeit a bit source-y
New intro is so much better.. 🤙👍
🙌
Good thing you insisted on the Steadicam!
Thanks for sharing the lighting breakdowns Rob! Great looking work, Cadrage is such a great Directors Viewfinder. What sun path app do you use?
I keep flipping back and forth between Sun Seeker and the sun tracker in Photo Pills. Photo Pills tends to be more accurate, but Sun Seeker is a little easier to screenshot/share.
@@robchado Oh cool thanks! I'll have to check Photo Pills out. Would you recommend getting it if you already own Sun Seeker?
What IRE levels are you aiming for for this high-key vibe? I've been shooting around 60 IRE but it seems too bright.
On set I usually aim for ~60 IRE on the higher end of skin tones but it usually gets stretched up a little in post once you add contrast.
What was the iPhone app used from the scout??
Cadrage
What wattage of hmi would have helped light this scene?
I probably would have run a few 4K's, but it's hard to beat a free sun!
@@robchado do u ever use led lights like the nanlite 1200 or the aputure 1200 to mimick daylight when shooting outdoors?
The lighting needs work.
Nah.. it doesnt. Its pretty good, actually
23.976 fps 🤢🤮 (outdated non-standard) wish TV industry would snap out of it already.
too bad there's that mandatory gay stuff in every stuff right now...
what's even worse are the mandatory shitty comments you see on UA-cam nowadays
kitchen lighting not great
Bummer
