After a few years of doing the glitter ornaments I found the polycrylic holds the test of time without the ornaments loosing their look. I also just found a trick for pouring it. I put it into a new dollar store condiment bottle to store. It has that ketchup too so it’s SUPER EASY to use and store. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Thank you for the tips! I've also heard (since I made my video) that polycrylic will hold up the best over time. I'll take a look at these ornaments in a year to see how they are doing, too!
Allison Silensky!! Thank you 🙏 for the test of time reply! I’m new to this and I’m buying the supplies this week so I was going to buy mop and glo, but now I will buy the polycrylic! I’m doing this with my Grandkids! Thank you 😊
Firstly, I want to say your videos are very interesting and I appreciate seeing the comparisons that you make. I do have a tip (as someone who has been working with vinyl since 1995). It's easier to just change the colors of everything to black (or white or whatever) on your page before you press make it. This way you don't have to move everything to the same mat (which takes three times the amount of time). You can still place your colors how you want to your mat so moving them after the fact is just more work. You can also just click select all and then attach. When doing it this way you can't make further adjustments on the mat so make sure that the spacing is already how you want it if you decide to go that route.
@@gentryluz if you have different colours the machine wants you to use different mats. Keeping it all "one colour" just means you use one mat, but you have to put the colour vinyl in the proper place if you want a different colour than that "one" colour
Thanks for a video with all 3 methods together. I like putting my polycrylic into the condiment ( ketchup and mustard) squeeze bottles from the dollar store. I also let the polycrylic dry just until it turns clear, and I find I get a more even coat with less glitter.
Hi Jennifer, I have had my Cricut for almost 5 years (Expression before the Air 2) with a part-time business. I think we are always learning when it comes to these machines. Just when we think we have it all figured out something new comes out! That's what makes it fun! I do want to thank you because all this time later and I've learned things from your last 2 or 3 videos that I didn't know. Thank you and keep up the awesome work!
I really appreciate the product comparison for the glues. I tried to make these last year and I did not have the right one. This years ornaments will be so much better! Thank you Jennifer!
I went to a craft class last year to learn how to do this and was completely disappointed. Thank you so much for this video instruction as well as the comparisons. I am going to try these again this year..
Thank you thank you for sharing your designs. Im completely understand people wanting to keep their ideas to themselves. And there is nothing wrong with that but I soooo appreciate with artist are happy to share with other artist. It’s just so generous and giving. Thank.
I watched a video where a lady did these with the polycrylic, and she had the product in a squeeze condiment bottle AND the glitter in a squeeze bottle as well and it went so fast and was so clean the only messy part was a wet paper towel she used to cover the hole when she turned the ornament with glitter inside. she used the same cup method too :) you make everything so easy I can't wait to try it.
Have had my Explore Air 2 for a year now and have made so many paper things but vinyl has been a struggle! I’ve maybe made 3 simple items - all done the hard way! I’ve learned so much from your videos! You’ve simplified the process so much for me. Thank you!!
I started with a silhouette, I just got my cricut maker. And I may get voted off the island for saying this, but I do not Like cricut vinyl. I have always purchased Oracle 651 and the only time I have had an issue with it is when I am cutting something very, very little. Or if my blade is dull. Cricut vinyl is so hard to work with or at least it was in my Sil. Cameo. Plus I purchase my vinyl in larger quantities and the cricut is just too expensive. I had to buy some cricut HTV over the Christmas break out of desperation and it seemed to do ok. But I had to pay way more than I’m used to.
I like your tips and tricks and enjoy your videos. What I LOVE is yours craft room and how you e decorated it. Mine is a complete mess ALL THE TIME. You’re an inspiration.
When using floor clean & shiner, one quickly figures out the right amount of product to use. This means the ornaments do not need to be turned over on a cup. I added glitter to over 30 ornamnets last week, and did not need to place them on cups. The liquid dries quite quickly, so all I do is add it to the ornament, twirl it around and then pour any extra back into the bottle. When using only one color of glitter, I simply add it, put a piece of paper towel over the top, and shake the ornament. Working with multiple colors of glitter means one cannot shake the ornament. Also, any size glitter works. I use fine or extra fine for fancy ornaments, and a nice thick glitter for casual or playful ornaments.
Some years back, I did something similar using different colored paints swirled on the inside of the ornaments, to look like they were marbleized. Just another option for anybody who doesn't want to use glitter. I'll be doing this glitter version soon, to add to my ever growing collection of holiday decorations. Going to need more trees soon .. LOL
Wow! Just found you and have learned in the three videos I've watched than I have in the year I've had my cricut! So many cute ideas and GREAT tips! Thanks for everything!
This is Tom's wife Nancy commenting. Jennifer makes thorough videos that are easy to follow the directions and easy to stop, do the step, restart for the next step and so on. She's always very joyous as well!
You are a very gifted presenter! I can’t wait to get started! Come on Amazon, you were supposed to be here today. Anyway I compliment the techniques you included in your tutorial! Thank you!
I can not tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I received my cricut maker as a gift in May and have to credit you to some degree for my success with it and enjoyment of it.
Thank you for your sweet comment Kendra, I'm so glad you're enjoying your new Cricut. I'd love to see some of your creations in my Facebook group! You can find the link above if you're interested! :)
I have a Cricut Maker, I received it 2 months ago. I have been watching you on UA-cam. I am going to make the glitter ornaments, I have the ornaments just need to get the glitter and polycrylic. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Thank you so much, I’m new to crafting....I retired and it’s my turn to be creative! You had mentioned a 3-D Christmas tree from wood. As I want to jump right in with my new Cricut maker can you show a video of that. Thanks again, you’re wonderful.
Thank you very much. Your video was very educational and informative. As a new crafter it was awesome. My granddaughter and I are getting ready to start making them for the holidays.
I did 9 ornaments using Mop n Glo. They looked great! I was so excited. It’s not even been 48 hours and 90% of the glitter of sitting in the bottom of the ornaments. I’m crushed. I hope I can redo them
Thanks for sharing this with us. Can’t wait to make these. A tip I read from somewhere is to use a lint roller to collect all of your tiny weeding pieces and just tear and toss when you’re done.
As much as as I love you Jennifer, I had to shake my head when you say that aluminum foil can sharpen a carbide blade. It will clean debris off but it does not sharpen a carbide blade.. Thank you for all your helpful tips, I have learned most of my Cricut info from you and appreciate all you do!
Indeed, it does not sharpen the blade, but it cleans it and removes any residue from vinyl, etc., that might remain on the blade. :). Thanks for being here, crafting with me!
Thank you for your tutorial. I planned on using the Minwax Polycrylic, but there were a lot of articles suggesting alternatives. I was really happy to see your companion. Fantastic tutorial !
I think I'll make each of my six grandchildren an ornament for their Christmas trees this year. I'm relatively new to many things on Cricut BUT your tutorials are very helpful. I'll be saving this video to reference while making all twelve ornaments. What?! YES TWELVE! Memaw has to have each kid's name on her tree too! 😉 Thanks 🎄
OMG from Australia. I'm addicted to this craft. I started making for for my nephews and nieces (5 in total) then I thought, oh my friends special needs daughter might like one, then I thought, my tree at work could do with one. So going to town with baubles. In Australia, I've found, Cabot's polyurethane is the best for baubles. For next year, could you create a grinch face and maybe a Mrs Clause. Please.😍😍
The foil sharpening technique can be done with almost any crafting blade. If you have a guillotine cutting system or 12 inch cutting system you just keep cutting aluminum foil with the blade to keep it in top cutting condition.

I tried the Glitter It with my baubles and my partner knocked a couple of them off the tree and the glitter came away inside :( I was gutted.

Which polycrylic do you use? There gloss, semi gloss, and matte finish. I don’t know if they are all the same or if one works best
