Dear Katy, I enjoyed this wind down sequence. Perhaps you can include some comments for modifications/alternatives if participants don't have the type of the chair that you do. Thanks.
Dear Katy, a huge thanks for sharing all the precious videos. I follow your channel regularly and your classes are now a key element of my personal practice (I practice at home and stopped going to class about a year and a half ago for a number of reasons). I had asked you in my previous comments about advice on how to start a pranayama practice (and stick to it!)I tried it several times (Ujjayi and Viloma lying down) but did not manage to continue. Grateful for any advice you can provide. Kind regards from Brussels. Ignacio
Hi Ignicio, Nice to hear from you again. Pranayama practice is always a more difficult practice to stick with due to many factors. I.e. Falling asleep, seems nothing is happening, not seeing progress or all seems repetitive. It’s easy to get bored as it’s not as dynamic as asana practice. As we get bored the mind wanders. I haven’t made a pranayama session, but your request reminds me, students maybe ready. We don’t teach pranayama to beginners as it take a certain focus and also body awareness, especially as we begin to sit upright. For you, question…..how long have you been practicing? Are you doing sirsasana and sarvangasana? And if yes, how long? I will look for your response and guide you further. Namaste 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@DesaYogiIyengarYoga Thank you so much for your reply, Katy, greatly appreciated. I have been practicing Iyengar yoga for about 20 years. I try to practice inversions regularly including Sirsasana and Sarvangasana (also with chair). As said, I did manage to have a regular morning schedule of pranayama (Ujjayi and Viloma) but did not manage to stick to it. Kind regards
Dear Katy, thanks a lot for another great sequence and for your generosity in sharing these videos. I have been following your teaching for several months now and your videos are an invaluable tool for home practice. Do you have any specific guidance for starting a Pranayama practice? I have been practicing asanas (always the Iyengar method) for several years now and I have been unsuccessful so far in incorporating Pranayama in my regular practice. Kind regards from Brussels.
Hi Ignicio, I appreciate you taking the time to send me your note and practicing with me. Pranayama is good to do first thing in the morning before the day gets too busy. Actually first thing in the morning is best. Please tell me if you have been practicing at all and if so what are you practicing so far. Additionally, are you meditating? Once I hear back I will direct you further. Namaste, 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot for your reply, Katy. I have practised basically Ujjayi and Viloma, lying down. I followed John Schumacher’s recorded classes. I practised for about 8 months (around 30 min in the morning) but did not stick to it. Thanks again and a very happy and bright 2023. Kind regards, Ignacio
