Great finds ! Been many years since I've gone to Bancroft. Nice to see the younger generation enjoying the hobby. Best wishes and regards to everyone !
That was really neat! Thanks for introducing us to Jacob. He's smart and young and lucky to be young and smart lol. Nice treasures to be found in those rocks! Looking forward to the night hunt🍻
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me the CN Dump was picked out I could afford to buy all of Jacobs zircons! Hahaha. Nice feature bud. Well done!
@@meMiner certainly is a sight to see. I may or may not have been spotted there in broad daylight under a BBQ cover in the past with a mutual buddy. The things we do…
😉they start 7;30 every day by loading the 'yard' from the mine and also add some other minerals, so the children get exposure to fun finds. I've been there just alone with my dog in shoulder season and this last weekend for the Gem and Mineral Show with my daughter and about 50 folks, ha. Great chipping at Sodalite none-the-less, with lovely tree-shaded areas. We left with a nice collection for tumblers for fair price. Not sure if they give access to the mine if asked. There's a nice store.....you're not in the wild and rugged, just sorta, ha. Cheers@@meMiner
In the beginning of the video, your guest called 365nm UV light "Midwave". NOT CORRECT. I suspect the other light may have been 395nm. BOTH ARE LONGWAVE. But 395nm lights are pretty much junk for rocks. You would need a UV flashlight with 255nm LEDs to be emitting Shortwave UV light. Perhaps it was a midwave light, and he incorrectly stated 365nm. Midwave would have been down at around 310nm.
@@meMiner about half way from the dump to the zircon deposit my Geiger counter was set off. I started digging hole but I never reached the material almost pegging out the meter. I was with a class and the student had to leave. I wish I had more time to find the source. Maybe you might have more luck than me.
Sweet sweet adventure fantastic finds the black light wow as always. Awesome time thank you
The next generation is in good hands.😊 Thanks to you and Jacob. 😷⚒
He had a great Dad there.

You should see it at night. Almost everything glowed under long wave 365.

@@mattridley8995 I have used a BBQ cover a few times myself, but not there. They get hot in the sun. ;-)

We were just there last weekend....didn't roll over that big boulder apparently, ha ;] but did visit Princess Sodalite mine. Great fun
If you can believe it, I haven't yet been to Princess Sodalite Mine.

I didn't catch that while editing. You are correct about 365 being the long wave for rocks
Awesome video. What state is this place in?
Ontario (Canada)
Didn’t know there were zircons there. Just curious, have you collected zircons at a site near the county dump?
Yes. The ones I found were perfect shape but really small

A very gneiss video but some people are so metamorphosed that they don't give a schist. Geology jokes are where I fracture my fans. 🤣
lol
Mica Drop !
🤣Good one
Really nice video
