Aside from the movie, what i got from the book and i think alot of people missed, was the idea that he used to chew aspirin on the way to work, with a burned throat from drowning himself in alcohol, and that when he takes the "drink", it's not really alcohol, it's something offered from the "post human" or "demon" characters, and it symbolizes him crossing the line to evil. It is more about them being able to drive a wedge in his weakness, more than it is just his weakness to alcohol.

None of the characters seem to celebrate Christmas in this film, so I would say no, it's not. They don't even mention it. Just like Misery, it just happens to take place during winter.
There may not be any snow in Die Hard, but I don't think that matters. Many countries rarely get snow in December. The important thing is that the characters celebrate Christmas in that film, which to me is an essential ingredient in any Christmas movie.

Christmas is not integral to the plot in Die Hard, nor is it the focus of the plot. If you replaced Christmas with Valentine's Day or Halloween, Die Hard would fundamentally still work. You can't do that with stuff like Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story, etc.
But I get that people don't really believe Die Hard is a Christmas movie. They're just being quirky because it's an action blockbuster which isn't standard for a Christmas movie.

Saying that The Shining is a Christmas movie is akin to calling Gremlins a Halloween movie despite taking place during the holiday season. I'm alright with anyone who watch holiday films that are not in the same month. It means people have interests to differentiate the setting of a movie, I'd always watch spooky stuff anytime when it isn't October; all thanks to my affection towards Halloween.

6:58 So it also mentions the 4th of July. It's like Wonder Woman 1984.
12:17 Or, you could misread it as "The Cold Room," which also fits the Christmas theme we're looking for.
If you do another one of these next year, the one I recommend is SHAZAM!. It's easily the most Christmassy of all these "unofficial" Christmas movies.

I'm not sure what I was expecting here, but this was really well thought out. I personally preferred the tv rendition, as it was so close to the book. This video was fantastic at Shining a new light on the original though. Thanks for the entertainment, as always.

In my opinion The Shinning is a one of a kind masterpiece. In the sense that it’s a movie that can be whatever you want it to be. Hence why so many people have an enormous amount of theories around it.

You're missing the obvious Christmas movie with Jack Nicholson. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is a Christmas staple in our household, because it does take place at Christmas (at least at one point). We usually watch it around December 5th. Right before Die Hard & The Bourne Identity

Ironically, a friend of mine watches The Shinning miniseries every Christmas Eve, she’s a massive Stephen King fans and refuses to watch the movies because it’s different from the book… so that kind of counts lol

I am not a horror fan at all but like many of you the shining has always intrigued me i am into many different eras and genres when it comes to movies and music. Its great when the backstory of the movie and history is almost as interesting as the movie itself and i agree some of us have a lot of knowledge in these areas it is fun to just analyze about it all..
